I bought it from Adult Dvd Empire. I'm sure it was not a bootleg. It had come loose in transit, though (this is a common problem). I've learned to just open them & see how they play rather than return them. Usually they are fine, sometimes just scuffed-which will wipe clean, but occasionally they are badly scratched. This one had many scratches, but the video quality was fine, no problems in playback. I don't imagine scratches would cause one audio channel to be bad throughout the disc. I do wish that adult studios would use a better quality box!

Scratches may be a problem when you have an ultra-sensitive player, like some Sony models. But my Pioneer endured lots of badly scratched discs pretty fine, just like horses´ asses in July.

Planet-I have a Toshiba that usually works great but has some foibles. I don't think I tried it in my cheap-ass Apex to see if it plays the same. The Apex usually plays the ones the Toshitba (er, Toshiba) has trouble with.

If the image appears fine but the sound doesn´t, the the problem is with the DVD itself. Unless you did some bad juju with your hometheater. But if you put the disc with the bad sound on, THEN you put another disc and the sound is good, and THEN you put the first disc back, the one with the bad sound, and the sound remains bad, then the disc is the one to blame, not the Toshiba nor the Apex.

Plays the same in the Apex. I usually listen via the tv's headphone jacks, rather than thru my receiver (it's not a problem with the phones, either). The audio is distorted, a problem with the dvd, not with any parts of my system. I guess I'll just have to flip one earcup away from my ear & deal with it, (my receiver won't allow for me to choose the good channel & switch to mono-nor will the Toshiba-the Apex is supposed to but I tried it & it did not work).

No-just s-video & coaxial out. The Apex video is connected to s-video input & the Toshiba via component input. Both audios are hooked via RCA jacks to the tv. The tv audio out is connected to the receiver (it's just a little Aiwa-via RCA jacks).
We should probably dispense with this discussion & stop hijacking Tom's thread before a moderator gets after us. We could really use a separate forum for equipment/hardware type questions.
