As requested by GGG here is a list of recommended Europorn films, there's still lots I haven't seen but these are the best of what I have seen so far, please add to it and comment!
Firstly, Lasse Braun is not only one of the first feature directors, he is in my opinion one of the best:
SENSATIONS
BODY LOVE
PENETRATION (documentary, not a white coater)
Brigitte Lahaie films, the best directed by Gerard Kikoine (who also edited or more accurately constructed a number of the better Jesse Franco films) and Claude Mulot, probably the other consistently great xxx Euro director
JE SUIS A PRENDRE
EDUCATION OF THE BARONESS
LES PETITES ECOLIERES
EXQUISITE PLEASURE
Unusually good porno crime dramas
COUPLES PERVERS
DIAMOND BABY (Marilyn Jess alert!)
More Mulot goodness
PUSSY TALK
SHOCKING!
A CHANGE OF PARTNERS
LA FEMME-OBJET (Marilyn Jess)
More Francois Leroi
LES PETITES FILLES
More Gerard Kikoine
BODY LUST (apparently also shot by Metzger)
ADORABLE LOLA (Marilyn Jess!)
CHAUDES ADOLESCENTES (Marilyn Jess again, also known as The Arrangement in English)
BOURGEOISE ET...PUTE! (Marilyn Jess!)
Edited to add: KINKY LADIES OF BOURBON STREET

Pussy Talk is really fun. I also enjoyed the far more recent Dog World series.

Oh, fantastic! Thank you, Blacksix, for doing this. And thanks also for the Marilyn Jess alerts!! I think I will check one of these out tonight. I will report back!
The more the merrier--any other suggestions are most welcome.
Oh and I saw and loved PUSSY TALK. Great and quite bizarre movie. LA FEMME-OBJET is, as I have explained elsewhere, super hot and incredibly thought provoking.

I'll add the following:
RASPUTIN (Ernst Hofbauer, 1984) - Super big budget and surprisingly violent [though heavily fictionalized] Rasputin biopic.
BREAKING POINT (Bo Arne Vibenius, 1975) - Mind-fuck masterpiece from the director of Thriller: A Cruel Picture.
The entire TEGN series, of course.
SUPREMES JOUISSANCES (Claude Mulot, 1976) - Extremely dark social satire on feminism. Only watch the French language version as the English dub really fucks up (and omits) a lot of the dialogue.
CHANGE PAS DE MAIN (Paul Vecchiali, 1975) - Odd blend of detective mystery lite with soft (and some hard) sex scenes. Was the springboard from which the Exhibition films were made.
BLUE MOVIE (Alberto Cavallone, 1978) - Decidedly anti-erotic (and occasionally quite nasty) political allegory of some sort involving kidnapping. Still, pervasively weird.
DIVERSIONS (Derek Ford, 1975) - Despite being written off as a failure by a lot of people, this UK made hardcore anthology film is a lot of fun. Vampires, Nazis, gore, and a great library soundtrack all make it a winner.
FELLA (Francis Leroi, 1977) - An unjustly forgotten, yet well written and directed, psychological drama with thriller overtones from the third of the three French masters, Francis Leroi.
And, for completists, here's a few crucial all-male films (they're all French because France was the only country making a lot of them):
NYC INFERNO (Jacques Scandelari, 1978) - Not just the best French all-male films, but one of the best French sex films, bar none. An absolutely mesmerizing docudrama on sex culture set in NYC and scored with (authorized use) Village People songs!
HOMOLOGUES (Jacques Scandelari, 1977) - Another masterpiece from JS, loosely inspired by DeSade, though more of a surreal 'day in the life' style film involving all manners of strangeness, including necrophilia!
ET...DIEU CREA LES HOMMES (Jean-Etienne Siry, 1978) - Elegantly photographed film by acclaimed poster artist Siry. Features an impressive original soundtrack along with dreamy visuals.

My trading partner recently unloaded most of his French classics in my lap so here are some of the best of what I've seen so far.
Of the Tranbaree films I've seen, these are all worth a look:
Sexrageous AKA Les Femmes Mariees AKA Les Dames de Compagnie (the picnic orgy finale is a riot)
Educating Tricia AKA Les Bas de Soie Noir (beautifully shot and loaded with action)
La Rabatteuse (a Brigette La Haie flick with her and hubby picking up French lovelies in the streets of Paris---viewed in its original language)
Caresses (another streets of Paris flick similar to those Bertrand Blier buddy flicks he made with Depardieu and Deware)
Flesh Fever (first third is really wacky; the rest of this dubbed version can not really keep up)
Also some recommended voyeuristic flicks:
Peek Freak AKA Nuits Suedoises (referred to as the Rear Window of porn flicks)
Voyeur Couples (another horny couple watching S & M stuff across the street and more)
Brigette La Haie has a pretty big following around here so maybe someone else will want to weigh in with more of her titles in addition to Black 6's titles and my lone title---tb
