With Payola Paul's annual party around the corner, just wondering how many of you out there feel that Tory Lane should win the AVN award for best female performer, this past year?
A big company with even bigger AVN ads, caused Tory to be passed over last year for Starlet of the Year, as the award went to McKenzie Lee, Club Jenna's contract star, a woman whose sexual fire, could not ignite the cigarettes Tory smokes with such sexual finesse, in so many of her film appearances.
As an aside, how much I wish, the other ladies of porn, as well as the adult film directors out there, would recognize, what main-stream Hollywood has known for decades--- a lit cigarette, dangling between a beautiful woman's luscious lips, projects an extremely powerful screen sexuality.
Now, here we are again, and Tory, one of the most powerful sexual animals I have ever seen on film, faces the same dilemma---a free lancer most of 2006, without those BIG BUCKS, which Payola Paul salivates over, in her corner.
When one considers Tory's body of work last year, there is little doubt that she was one of, if not the most, prolific female performer to hit the adult screen in years. For that alone, she should win the honor.
But, what it really should get down to, in determining the best performer of the year, imho, is the old Peter Meter, and here, Tory has no equal for NEVER have I seen a woman, so completely dominate a scene sexually---she doesn't just screw her men, she nails them to the floor!

I think Tory is great, but this is a pretty strong field she's competing in, and I can think of two women in it that I'd pick over her. She's not a sure thing and it wouldn't be a crime if she lost.
Which two? Let me guess - Jenna Haze and Hillary Scott?
You're right, it's a killer field and she'll probably miss out, but I think it would be a crime if she lost. Whereas others have suffered from continous exposure in a plenitude of releases, Tory has suffered precious little at all. Romain is painfully overexposed, and Belladonna is intense, but not as reliably excellent anymore. Jenna Haze is superb, but relative to Tory, rides on her looks a little too much. The girl who I think comes closest is Hillary, but despite the fact that she's game for anything, despite her gorgeousness and attentiveness during scenes, and despite her ability to act and fuck, she doesn't have the same physique, she doesn't move with the same seductive rhythm, and she isn't a hurricane of sexuality waiting to unroll in every scene she's in.

Hillary takes on more challenging male talent, and scenes, on a regular basis, and her performances are just as affecting in their way as Tory's. I'm not saying this to downgrade Tory, just to point out that things are a lot more equal than you're making them out to be.
I stand by that statement 100%. +1 for you, Sir. And everyone knows how much I love white girls who do IR scenes, so for a second there I was gonna pick Hilary; if for nothing else, due to Tory's ALWAYS incendiary perofrmances and her already huge fan base...and the fact that she doesn't do IR. But you're completely right on the body, despite Tory's fake tits, Tory has far and away the best physique.
Well, I'm not really going to argue with that Picman. Tory Lane limiting the men she can work with will cost her votes, no denying. I am a Hillary fan, I've bought a lot of movies just for her, and if she won, I think it'd be deserved, but I still feel Hillary in her work doesn't unleash a certain glorious sexual atavism that Tory does in her scenes.
Maybe Darko can do a 'BIG ASS SHOWDOWN: TORY VS HILLARY' and set me straight.
Tory's a bit like Mika Tan in that, I love the hell out of both of their performances but one has to admit, regardless of how intense or "into it" they may seem, they both tend to stray into "over the top" territory at times and come off as a bit of a ham. There's a fine line between the two sometimes, between genuine and phoney, but when it veers into the latter more often than the former it starts to wear thin.

I take your point CJ, but the porn star's face plays heavily into hamminess. Mika Tan's face, pretty as it is, has the malleability of one of the Animaniacs, those Warner cartoon characters, and combined with her antics in scenes the overall effect can veer into caricaturised coitus. Tory plays it straighter though, he starts from the position of ruthless allure and it all avalanches from there. She plays it close to that line of sexual bathos, but there's a self-consciousness to hamminess that she lacks. When she's fucked in the moment, she's 100% blissed.
