I think the stuff she made before she turned 18 is illegal in fifty states and all US territories. Other than that, I don't think there's anything remarkable out it.
don't want to go off Traci topic too far but the age thing. There's the 'alledged' Barbra Streisand stag which purportedly hails from 1959. She would've been 17 years old that year. If the day ever comes where it's bonafidedly proven that it's her in that loop and that it 'is' from 1959, or if Streisand for whatever reason comes out and readily admits it's herself, would this stag then be illegal as it depicts a 17 year old having sex. No matter how old the film is?
No because nothing Barbra Streisand does can ever be wrong-she could have done a Baker's Dozen when she was 10, and everyone would still turn their heads like it doesnt exist.... As for Traci-OVERRATED-she isnt even pretty IMO.
Well, we might not admit to owning it, but if you happened to see it when it was out and have memories, or if you live in Canada (where pretty much all of her stuff is legal), then you have nothing to fear.
I'm not going to say which of those is my reason for familiarity, though.
I think "Battle of the Stars" is an awesome movie. Traci herself is pretty typical of the mid-80s porn stars. While she did throw herself into her work, I'm not convinced that her work would be remembered as well if there hadn't been the scandal. She obviously fakes all her orgasms. But she has nice tits. Other than that, not much to talk about.
Why are they legal in Canada? As far as I know, everyone of her movies (around hundred) was made before she turned 18. Beside one. The one she had the copyrights for and the one she made her money with after the scandal. "I was a 15-year old Pornstar. Big fucking deal!"
I saw most of her work while in high school in the 80's...it was great stuff! I remember going into the back rooms of those first video stores. My friends always sent me in because I shaved first and looked older.. I actually share the same birthday as Traci..ironic.
Different age of consent would be the most likely guess. As far as what I think of the stuff she made before she was 18, I think it is illegal and irrelevant. However, I have heard of people prosecuted successfully back in the 80's for having some of the movies she was in. Silly because they didn't know she was underaged nor did they get off because of it.
Alain Bourassa tells me that ONLY the original releases are legal due to the fact that they were approved for distribution back when they were released. Once a movie has been approved, only the provincial movie board has the power to take a movie off the shelves; to make it illegal. Since they didn't do it back then, the movies remain legally available.
However, no re-release of those movies could be done due to changes in the rating system which now must include a viewing by the movie review board for approval.
I`ve also seen her in one of my first movies "It`s my Body"), and also I diddn`t know that she was underage! But if I had knewn, it wouldn`t have been that bad cuz I was underage that time myself, haha. But it seems like nowadays she isn`t that proud of her early Fuckfilms:
"DR: Do you find it hard to get roles because of your, uh, earlier career?
Tracy Lords (TL): (playing dumb) My earlier career?
DR: Yeah, you were a porn star.
TL: That was over a decade ago
DR: Of course, but I think that most people think of porno when they hear the name Traci Lords. Does your reputation bother you?
TL: (super annoyed): Listen, I have fans from all walks of life. I've got little girls who are 12 years old who are fans of my album 1,000 Fires, I've got fans that are fans mainly because of Crybaby [the 1990 John Waters film], and I have people who know me from when I was a 15 year-old porn star. You're not one of those, are you?
DR: Well, actually yes. Surely you still get offers to return to adult films.
TL: (grabs the tape recorder from my hand): This interview is over!
(Interview Quote: www.dailyradar.com 2000)"
btw, do you believe this girl to be eightteen? >> http://www.teentopanga.com/18675064/tour.html
From what I've read about her, I gather that Traci thinks of herself as a victim of porn. I think that being in porn actually helped her. People know who she is because of that. By the way, the only movie of hers I saw was "Traci, I Love You", but she had turned 18 when that movie was made.

Sorry to burst your bubble BUT porn available in Canada is the same as in the USA, all her movies got pulled and porn took longer to become legal up here than in the USA. We didn't have Adult Video stores until the early 90's and they were heavily edited. Rogers Video and Video 99 had a seperate room for their porn videos and Blockbuster did not exist up here yet. Only if you had the big dish satellite system you got American XXXtasy. Porn was not even on PPV until mid/late 90's. Alexandria Quinn, who is Canadian, was underage for some of her early porn and it got pulled and edited all her scenes out. She went on the road to strip back in the early 90's, I got a couple of polaroids with her from when she came to dance at the strip club I worked as a DJ at. Quebec has different laws governing that province so they are less strict. Is why Montreal is nicknamed The Smut Capital Of Canada. Here in Toronto there are lots of Adult Video stroes BUT they are all shit. I tried looking for some of Jenna J movies on dvd and the clueless clerk had no idea if he had any in stock. All garbage videos/dvd's. Never find Traci Lords movies here. And age of consent has nothing to do with possession of porn..still have to be 18 to perform in them.
How big of a star was she before it came out that she was underaged and the celibrity that followed it? In Sweden she was a huge star without the underage fact came out clearly so was she like Jenna J but just earlier or was he fame caused by the underagedrama?

Before the shit hit the fan it was a toss up between her and Ginger Lynn for the #1 spot.
For those of us old enough to have seen Traci before the shit hit the fan, I thought she was awesome. And, very importantly, you never had any clue or thought that she was underage. So, having seen her in porn, and then watched her mature in her 20's and 30's into an absolute mega-hottie, is what keeps the fantasy going. In my mind, it is now actually the 20's and 30's Traci that I think of and "remember" (incorrectly) as the pornstar (but it is a very hot mental image). Even now, she's a good-looking woman. Prime MILF material if you ask me
I was very young & underage when Traci Lords was making porn...but got to see her stuff from my older brother's collection. She was incredibly hot in all her scenes, and it was a real toss-up between her and Ginger Lynn as who was the best in the biz. Many people in the biz suffered when Traci's age was revealed and they had to edit out all of her scenes from product. Traci moved onto mainstream (most notably appearing as a semi-regular on "Melrose Place"on TV), and up until now has had the most success in crossing over to mainstream--not as a "Porn Star" but an actress--of any former porn performer. She got her roles on Melrose Place and in several mainstream films because of her acting chops, not her porn celebrity. And I agree with the other recent posts: Traci is still good looking in her MILF years.
Derek: I dont agree with you I actually think Tracis background helped her land those maninstream roles. I think mainly because of her being so negative towards the business then making it easier for mainstream producers defending themselves for casting her etc. And with her being that big pornstar as she was of course they got a lot of publicity. I remember articles about melrose place about Traci being on it and that was the only time any newspaper reported about that series. I mean its only nowadays that with Sasha Grey a pornstar has been able to break it big and still being postitive to the business and not playing a parody on themselves (Jenna J and Traci Lords). Traci was actually born on my birthday, so I've seen almost all of her scenes while I was in high school and college. She made a comment that she actually didn't do much porn, it was just a bunch of scenes spliced together...I highly doubt it. She was one of a kind though..I loved her work.

It would certainly provoke some candid remarks from industry folks on, and breathe life into, the porn forums. This would probably make both ADT and XPT look like The Batley Townswomens Guild's presentation of the Battle of Pearl Harbor.
Jaktarn, I guess we'll just disagree on this. Here are some more comments. My recollection is that Traci gave very few interviews after leaving porn--though lots of articles were written about her that were negative towards the Porn Industry. Most articles blamed the industry for not having safeguards that would prevent minors from lying their way into the biz. Currently the Porn Biz has the ID check requirement you see at the beginning of each video...which is a result of (among other things) the Traci Lords scandal. Also I don't know that Traci has every said anything in the press that other porn performers haven't also said, about pay, conditions, not feeling good about themselves after doing scenes. A more "objective" view is that both Traci and the Porn Industry used each other--and Traci won the last round: the ONLY legal Traci Lords porn video is the one ("Traci, I Love You") that SHE produced and profits from. And all of the videos she made for porners like the Dark Bros. cannot legally be sold...which you know every porn company would be doing now that she has some mainstream name recognition. Think of all the "celebrity" sex tapes that have out-sold the porn performer sexvids. Is Traci an "innocent victim?" Hell no! She willingly came into the adult biz as an under-age minor. But, the industry establishment (companies, agents, directors, journalists) refuses to acknowledge that they should have had measures in place to prevent this from happening. Indeed, it's very hard to believe that, given as much time as Traci party'd off-camera with porn people, that some of them didn't suspect/know that she was too young to be performing sex in front of a camera. Scapegoating is not consistent with "progressive" thought--which alternative cultural lifestyles, like porn, should embrace. But porn doesn't. Traci doesn't need money. So there's no reason for her to return to the porn biz--and if she wanted to, I doubt anyone would have her. Except to humiliate/degrade her in scenes as "payback" for the scandal. Not gonna happen.

Some suspected. In fact, Tom Byron, who was a babe in the woods himself at the time, has said in retrospect that he should have known. Others knew. The whole reason the situation blew up in the first place is because someone in the industry informed on Traci. Underage issues aside, one of the bigger revelations was the role of drugs in motivating performers as supplied by directors and producers when deemed necessary. It's one thing to be duped, and quite another to engage in such obviously nefarious activities. While there are still a few people around who were hurt in the scandal (Ginger Lynn for one), if Traci somehow felt an itch to return, big money would be flying out of producer's wallets to be first or exclusive. As far as Traci's popularity at the time of the revelations, I don't think anyone other than Amber Lynn challenged Ginger as top of the food chain at that particular time. Traci was more ingenue than full blown star, but clearly on the fast track. More interesting is that she was never portrayed as jail bait, and honestly didn't look the part.
Yes...Tom Byron was one of the people I had in mind. As I recall, he and Traci were a couple off-camera for a few months. Given that, it is difficult to believe that he didn't know. Of course, he can't admit it, and I wouldn't expect him to. The other point you bring up, about "who" dropped a dime on Traci, is probably going to go down in history as one of the Great Mysteries; like Area 51, who killed JFK, etc. The theory, mostly floated by porn people, is that Traci informed on herself so she could get all of her product removed from the shelfs--which is exactly what happened. Thus, making her self-produced sexvid the ONLY product on the market. If true, she is very, very smart! The other theory, more widely accepted, is that some other porn performer/industry person turned her in. Either out of a sense of "decency" or jealously. Also, let's not forget that at about this same time, lanky blonde porn performer Stacy/Tracy Donovan was an informer for the LAPD--having been "turned" after a drug bust. So she could have been the source. While Ginger Lynn was without doubt the Numero Uno Babe of Porn at the time, Traci was right on her heels--and had overtaken Amber Lynn, Angel, and Barbara Dare. Maybe some day Traci will write a book, and set straight some of the mystery. Or, a Freedom of Info request to LAPD may reveal who turned Traci in.
hi, i can assure you that most of Traci Lords stuff is not available in Canada.some folks may still have some vhs stuff from back in the day,but it is not widely available! map47
Hello well there is a euro distributor simplythebest.com that has a whole catalog of Traci films on dvd including the Dp scene film however that scene is so poorly shot and brief that it could BE a DPP or standard DP also downunder I have browsed several Sex shops in Auckland nz and they still sell Traci titles like Those Young Girls with Reems and Ginger ,Traci's Fantasies,
^^ True, there are still full Traci Lords catalogues outside the US. When I visit Canada I've seen most of her sexvids for sale. However, since she was either sixteen or seventeen when these vids were shot, it's creepy that people would still sell them. Child pornography is still child pornography--even if the child is a willing participant.
Isn't New Wave Hookers a classic? From everything I have read on her from back then, she and Ginger were 1 and 2. So she was a very famous porn star. I believe Ron Jeremy said on her E! True Hollywood Story that she was the first to get $1,000 a scene. So I guess there was a lot to talk about.

I heard the only ones convicted and sent to prison were the ones that still distributed her movies after the scandal broke. Edited by - Darrah on 6/8/2009 6:01:01 AM

I've seen her interviewed and she says no one put a gun to her head when she got into porn. But she was poor, young, stupid, and needed the money. How many other women then and now have said that?? Jim South said on her E! True Hollywood Story that her stepfather brought Traci into his studio and told Jim I'll get her doing movies one day. This would have been when Traci was 14. This is the same stepfather that had been raping her since she was a child. She started in the adult industry first with adult modeling and then into porn from I believe after her Penthouse shoot featuring Vanessa Williams on the cover.

Traci has been a successful mainstream working actress for the past 22 years. The novelty of being an underage porn star would have worn out 20 years ago. She makes her living solely on her acting and not because of her porn past. Traci has been in television shows, a regular on a few television shows, television movies, television mini-series, Hollywood feature films, had a top selling techno album, had songs from that album featured in television shows and Hollywood feature films, was a Guess Jeans girl with the commercial going worldwide, has product endorsements, runway models, directs for the Lifetime Movie channel, and won the acting award "Film Discovery Jury Award" for best actress for her film Chump Change. Traci Lords is the most successful crossover star. Name anyone else that won an ACTING award?? She took acting lessons right away and went to every audition and worked hard to get where she is now. She said in the beginning she realized she was only getting call-backs because they wanted to meet Traci Lords. But she still went to every audition and has stayed clean & sober and has given Hollywood a good example of a former porn star. Yes she lied but many other women lied as well about their age. She just happened to be the most famous underage porn star. Brent Corrigan is still working in gay porn and it seems many there don't care. While his scandal came after internet with more at stake financially for the porn industry

She said she made about 20 movies and made only about $30,000 from her films. That these "hundreds" of movies she did were compilations and spliced from those 20 movies. She said she had a hard time explaining to the FBI and the IRS why she only made about $30,000. She also credits the FBI with her stopping her drug habit because they were parked outside her door after the scandal broke and she didn't want to get arrested.

I believe Tom said on Traci's E! True Hollywood Story that he was never allowed into her home because someone from her past was staying there holding something over head. That someone could have been her then/former stepfather. He brought her into Jim South's office when she was 14. Her mother also knew. Traci also said she was in school and these boys came up to her in the cafeteria and showed her a magazine saying something like "Nora, is this you, is Traci Lords really you". She said she never returned after that. So many many people knew she was underage. Traci also said the FBI had a file on her for three years. She was in porn for three years! The FBI doesn't usually go in right away. They take their time and then goes in sometimes years later. Maybe the FBI wanted to wait longer so she could make many movies costing the porn industry much more money. It could have been her mother, stepfather, rival performer, or maybe it was just the FBI from the very beginning. Yes she owned "Traci I Love You" but she was suppose to get back the master copy years later. They never returned it. She said on the Howard Stern show that she spent almost a million dollars in court trying to win back that copy so she could burn it. She won it years later but I believe she still to this day never got it delivered to her.

And to the people that say Traci badmouths the industry. I once found this religious Myspace page with a blog saying how Jenna Jameson is the biggest person AGAINST porn. They had all these quotes of Jenna from her many interviews, television appearances, and book. So your queen that gave you all the big FU at the AVN Awards is looked at by religious people as the most outspoken person against porn.
I agree with you on this. IMO Traci is the most successful ex-porn performer in terms of working in the mainstream entertainment industry (And the irony of this must drive the Porn Establishment crazy). Sasha Grey is attempting the Big Crossover, and time will tell if her success surpasses Traci's.
Hello, well ignoring the underage controversy part of the equation pornstars making it big in mainstream is not common, even Traci has done minor movies and some guest appearances on shows but would not say she got Mainstream Hollywood star success as to Why I like her as a porn starlet Traci sucked cock like she loved it and could deepthraot not the lame tip and stroke of so many porn newbies, she could grind on a cock move her hips Ron Jermey mentioned that the gasp moans and sighs she gave were very erotic she has great lips both Oral and Vaginal A NATURAL curvy physique not a twig or Silicon barbie doll CURVES, and she seemed to have no trouble addressing the camera or giving great eye contact and connecting with her costar Ths

Yeah I think they hate her because she's done what they've tried and couldn't. Only about a handful that still gets consistent work in the mainstream - Traci, Ginger, and Ron. There's also Simon Rex. But he did a few solo scenes. No actual sex I don't think. He was fired from MTV when they found out his past. They kept him around a while longer because Simon was so popular. But when the first round of MTV firings happened, they let him go because I remember hearing they were upset that he never told them.
