What exactly is the legal and financial relationship between tube sites and the porn industry?
Right now I'm watching a video on porn director Raul Cristian's YouTube channel titled "Inside AVN Expo 2013 Hosted by Tori Black (Day 1 - Part 2)." At the bottom of the video are listed nine sponsors, four of which are tube sites. Between this and the fact that adult studios are widely known to advertise on tube sites, I'm a bit confused. Hollywood production companies do not advertise on websites that are said to be stealing their films, nor would they accept their sponsorship for an event, so can anyone explain to me how and why exactly the relationship between the adult film industry and adult tube sites is different?

Sorry to hijack the thread but what exactly is a tube site? I'm currently a member of this site. It's a pay site but I've noticed when I click 'download' for some scenes the only option I get is 'tube'. As I don't know what that is or what it means, I leave those scenes alone. Could someone enlighten me please?

A moderator would probably be more helpful on this question, but an adult "tube site" as referred to on this forum is a website to which users upload pornographic material without obtaining prior permission from the owners of that material. In other words, these sites encourage and largely - though not exclusively - depend on widespread copyright infringement.

A tube site is any site that allows everybody with a computer to stream porn for free. There are many but the biggest ones are all owned by the parent company of Brazzer. I won't name any because the porn industry has enough problems without people talking about where you can get free porn.
Now in regards to wank my wood. It's strange that you can't download their videos because it's part of a huge network of sites which all allow it's paid members to download their content. It's not a well reviewed site so that might have something to do with it but if you are getting links for tube sites on a paying site than that is not the kind of site you should waste your money.

I am reminded of this topic posted in the Porn News-Press Releases forum about a month ago: Takedown Piracy Celebrates 30 Millionth Removal. In it, there's a link to a report done by ABC's Nightline television program which highlights how working for and promoting tube site giants like MindGeek has become a "necessary evil" for many who work in the porn business.

^^^ I said clicking 'download' on some of the scenes on WMW appear to direct the user to a tube site - the vast majority don't. Don't know why it's an unpopular site, it was cheap to join and there's a phenomenal amount of stuff on there - almost approaching Videobox quantity. I had no idea I'd be getting so much for my money (I thought I was just joining a handjob site), I was just a bit confused by those 'tube' links.

^My comment would apply even if only one video linked to a tube site because you are on a paid site but the fact that more than one does it simply makes matters worse. The reason why you are getting way more than you thought you would is because that site is part of a huge network of sites. I'm glad you like their stuff but I never did.

^ The 'tube' videos seem mostly to be older/obscure scenes. I wouldn't mind some of 'em but I haven't partaken - and won't. I assume these will be streamed and I'm strictly a download-only man.
