We have yet to have a woman come with a particulary extravagant lingerie set, or have a fellow being his dungeon master leather harness. I'm not opposed to shooting people in more "costumey" get-ups, but I hate it when there's a mismatch between that the people, set, and costume. Also, I think it's much more interesting to see people who look "regular" turn into sex freaks, than it is to see a woman dressed like a flamboyant trannie street hooker turn in lack luster performance. The set and/or costume shouldn't be the first thing you remember about a scene.

Vanessa Chase did a scene with Alex Sanders for one of the Hotel Sodom series where she wore this incredible blouse that did wonderful things to her already-outstanding breasts. Now, it's true that the camera-work/editing could have been better, and had Vanessa been naked it would just have been an average scene. The fact that her blouse was such outstanding eye candy is what made the scene unique and a must-have.

I've mentioned it many times. There is one movie I watched recently(really can't remember the name), but the scene opens with a little montage of the girls coming in, and changing from their street clothes into the god awful stripper/porn gear for the scene.

I was so annoyed to see them take off the nice, attractive clothes that I wanted to see them in and put on something less attractive, and more obnoxious.

I agree with TC that people wearing subdued outfits and then becoming sex freaks is hot, but I gotta admit to liking "slutty" clothes as well. But the slutty stuff's gotta have a little bit of panache to it, even if it's not super-expensive fetish gear.

I guess it's all about variety for me. Variety in the clothing style, in the amount of time spent removing it, and in the amount that stays on in the end. But for fuck's sake, starting off a scene buck nekkid should be the least common variation.

Oh and +1million for panties pulled to the side. Yum.

When Bryan started directing for Pulse, he was not interested in dressing the girls in "porn clothes", or seeing them in "porn clothes". He decided that it would be great to do wardrobe for all of his movies, which we have done thus far. In Cheek Freaks, for instance, all of the girls we bought wardrobe for. I even bought them bras and panties (if necessary for the outfit) as well as accessories, and shoes. Bryan mentions it, I believe, in his interview with The Fix. That's actually the reason Kami and I went shopping the first time; to buy her outfit for the scene.

I personally love the "regular" girl look, or even the "hot girl at a club" look. Most of Bryan's movies will feature wardrobe along this theme, except for his Naturally Stacked line, that line should mainly feature the girls in clothing that emphasizes their breasts.

Again, my point is that variety is the spice of life, and here's such a simple way for a shooter to distinguish his (or her) presentation of a performer from the other fellows. The thing is, even when the woman is nicely packaged the clothes tend to completely disappear early in the scene, which tends to defeat the purpose. It would be nice if clothing was provided with an eye to what would stay on, as well.

Sun was gracious enough to share some wardrobe pre-production still with me for Cheek Freaks , and she's not kidding, these gals are outfitted the way that everyday "hot chicks" turn themselves out – they looked like the 19 yearold cuties that I see promidating at the beach all Summer long.

Again, nothing wrong with speciality gear. But once you doll up a girl in latex and frankenhooker shoes, the rest of the production has to rise to the level of the wardrobe. Sadly, this rarely happens and the wardrobe just makes the girl (who otherwise would look super hot) look silly.

Agreed! I love the stockings lingerie look, both the elegant outfits and the crazy porn lingerie. Unfortunately, I do not see nearly as much elegant lingerie as crazy porn lingerie. So more elegant lingerie please! Also, they can leave some of their outfit on (they should leave the garter and hose on), as long as I can see all the good stuff!

Wow, thanks everybody for already expressing many of my thoughts on this subject. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet is how the sexy clothing or lingerie can help create sexual tension. Imagine how the camera could linger on her body on those places where her attire is most flattering and revealing. A camera can linger on those spots and zoom in closer than they otherwise do, and then move back so you can view her all at once. This can make the scene more intense because of the anticipation that builds before the sex starts. (The same principle holds true if they are wearing a sexy outfit that is not lingerie, as well).

I only know of a few directors (Darkko, Jordan) that understand this. There is tremendous potential for directors and movie companies to make themselves stand out by exploring this. I am not suggesting that everyone try to imitate Darkko and Jordan; there is a lot of uncharted territory for directors and companies to explore without copying someone else’s style.
