Just wondering if I'm the only one who has this viewpoint..
I could see a scene with a pornstar and think she's incredible and get really turned on by her, but later when I see them or hear about them doing over-the-top stuff, I lose interest.
Example: Ashley Long. When I first saw her in some 1-on-1 scene, I was amazed at how hot, sexy. and nasty she was, and how much she was into her scene. But then later, I see some scene with her taking on like 5 guys at once, basically being used as some cum-dumpster (which she very well may enjoy). But now whenever I see Ashley Long in a 1-on-1 or 2-on-1, I can't even enjoy it, because in my mind she is transformed form a sexy nasty girl who loves sex to some girl who gets off on shoving as many dicks in her as possible.
Same deal with Ashley Blue. Totally loved watching her until I saw her just get ridiculous, basically with the "look how far I can go" attitude instead of a girl who's really into the guy and into the sex.
Happened to me with Ariana as well. She's still beautiful as ever, and she may very well love what she does, but for me, but I guess I don't like it when they lose their "innocence", if I can put it like that.
I understand what you are saying. There are a couple of girls I used to love but then lost interest once they went way overboard. However, with one of those girls I came back to her and fell back in lust with her again and still love her today. I don't want to single anyone out though.
Let me try to give you the other side though:
I talked to a porn star about this once. She had a very reasonable opinion on it. Roughly, she stated that she is appreciative of her fans and the support they give her but she can't go around wondering what they want. If she did that then she would never be able to make a decision again because it would probably upset at least one person. So, she does what she feels good about and hopes that fans follow her for the ride.
For example: Kylie Ireland recently signed on as director/performer for Platinum X. Plans are for her to do some real exquisitely nasty scenes full of non-condom anal and DP. A lot of people are looking forward to it. I know I am. However, Kylie and Platinum seem aware of the fact that the reality is that some of Kylie's fans will not be supportive of the move. She's never gone this extreme before and some people may not be ready for it. However, she IS ready for it and said in the press release announcing the new move that she hoped her fans understood.
Yeah, that happened for me with Debbie Diamond. It stopped being stroke material and became just shock value. I still watched, just with both hands free.

Kylie is nasty but not over the top and I think her fans will enjoy her work as it's hot and sexy not shock value. I know what you mean when you see a girl who's so hot then starts doing crazy shock stuff it's a turn off I agree. In my movies I always try to let the sex be natural and intense not over board.
I hear that. I'm sure there are some even worse than me who are turned off when one of their favorite stars starts to do anal. I'm not quite that bad.
I guess it basically comes down to money. If a girl can get a lot more money doing a gangbang scene and she has no hangups about it, then I could see why she would do it...she's getting paid more per unit of time she spends. And of course we all know that it's all about the money, but most of us don't like being reminded of that fact as we watch the porn.
But in a way, although a girl makes more money doing gangbang scenes, it seems that in some aspects gangbangs actually require less effort from the girl. Sure, she is more taxed physically, but since there's guys and dicks everywhere, there's a lot more going on in the scene, and a girl can get by just being there and allowing herself to become a penis receptacle. In contrast, in a hot 1-one-1 scene, the girl is more exposed, comprises 50% of the onscreen characters, so there is more pressure on her to act and move around and make the scene hot, while in a gangbang, her mere presence is enough...

Gangbangs don't offend me as long as it's under eight guys anything more then that is just to much to see on a girl and it turns me off. I did a scene with five guys before and it was one of the best times I ever had but I never did more than that I just felt like it would be to much and I don't do anything that I don't get off on.
I am wondering if this same attitude will directed toward Janines radical shift from Lesbian only to boy/girl sex. I get the feeling that Janine will be a little less polished in her hetero scenes than her lesbian scenes. It's not that some of us don't like to be reminded, it's that some of us totally disagree with the notion that porn performers espcially women are most of the time faking their lust.

I can partly understand what you're getting at.
Watching an over the top scene with a fresh of the train, inexperienced (in life as well as porn) girl being taken advantage of is pure wood-kill for me. It somehow makes me feel a bit dirty.
But Ashley Long seems rather different to me.
I've watched quite a few Ashley Long scenes and she never disappoints me. I know she does some large gang-bangs and rough'ish scenes that may not be to my liking but that's her choice. And she has never given me the impression that she was being taken advantage of, or was not in complete control of her career.

I would say it is safe to say that money and pleasure go hand in hand as motivations why porn superstars are in the business and stay in the business. On the original question about being turned off when stars go too far.
I'm comfortable with most things in gonzo porn, (gangbangs, anals, ATM's, etc.), that involve sex. My turnoff meter gets pegged when it gets to activity that involves things outside of sex. Specifically, things that happen in bathrooms. I understand that there's a market and fans for that, but I get turned off when I see my favorites doing that.

I usually don't get turned off by over the top stuff from a girl. If I like them then I'll continue to like them unless they just look like they don't give a fuck on screen. Attitude is what sells it to me.
I'm glad this topic is here. I'm not really into the extreme stuff either. I posted something elsewhere that relates so I'll x-post some of it here.
What I don't understand is as a performer why not gradually introduce the more extreme stuff. Seems a lot of the new girls jump in by doing it first. I suppose maybe they might want short careers and take the money and run. I'm no porn historian but when I look at girls like Jenna Jameson, Janine and Asia Carrera I see three women who held back things which only led to more anticipation and us wanting them more. Variety is the spice of life. Why can't a gal do a different types of scenes? Some you like some you don't. I have had the reaction where you see a scene and the performer drops alot in ranking(more than should be possible in one scene with buffering effect, off scene allowances, and so forth), though it did not have to do with going to far as discused in this thread just certain phrases or movements ect. This is not a logical reaction, but people are mostly not logical. You just have to try and eliminate such things from your memory.

It's true once a girl has done all the shock value stuff her career usually comes to a hault as she get's labeled and there's nothing left for her to do so when you keep it real your career last a hell of a lot longer.
