Ok, I bought the 666 film by John Thompson called "Ich Schwimm in Pisse & Sperma" about a week ago from Adult Universe. Now, the first copy I received wouldn't load at all. I received the second copy today and that worked ok for about 10 mins and then the picture started to freeze and skip large sections of the film. Now, it won't load at all.
I noticed that both had smudges on the DVD's where the logos were. Is it possible to receive to faulty DVD's purely by coincidence or is it possible that the entire batch of this title is faulty?
I've downloaded so many videos off internet sites, that I had to buy another DVD player capable of playing DVD+r, and other formats that I burned the videos to.
Philips makes great players capable of playing SVCD, DVD+r, and Divx, and other formats. The one I bought has played all videos I downloaded and burnt to DVD or SVCD without issue.
But it's my understanding that most porn studios don't release DVD+/-r's, except for studios that don't push a lot of DVDs.

That's what I thought, Jacco. The first thing that struck me when I checked the back of the DVD (other than the smudges) was the etched "DVD-R" sign on the inside of the DVD. I thought "that's funny" so I checked "Vollgespritzt & Vollgepisst" (a GGG title I got on the same day) and it didn't have it. That one, of course, worked fine.
I'll make sure to tell Adult Universe that in my e-mail.
Well, maybe that's what it is, Mike. Maybe this particular title, for whatever reason, didn't sell very well and so they decided to put it onto a DVD-R instead. But I think 666 titles, in general, are alot more specialized and therefore don't sell as well as the mainstream GGG titles.
We carry all GGG/666 titles (the original German ones) and they are all regular DVD's as far as I know. We tend to pay attention to that, as we don't like to sell DVD-r's as they will give a problem to a certain percentage of our customers. The only DVD-r's we have are a few fetish titles which have never been released as pressed DVD's.

Well, I received another GGG title from them which was also a DVD-R but unlike the two copies I had to send back of the other title, this one works without any problems. Oh, and it has no dye smudge marks, either. This leads me to assume that the entire production line for the other title was in some way faulty.

Is Adult Universe a US shop?
If that's the case, my guess is all European produced GGG/666 are PAL DVDs whereas the ones licensed for the US market are NTSC DVD-Rs? But I doubt one would risk selling 666 in the US.
The GGG titles licensed to the US are all done by Black Widow, they are sometimes censored, but they are pressed NTSC discs. There was a thread about it when Black Widow bought the rights.
Nah, it's just Playhouse under another name, Joey. Definately European (Dutch) I don't think they are pirated copies, either. The only difference between the GGG's from Adult Universe and Vidshop, for example, is the fact that those from AU have French language covers and menus but original German tone. I assume they wouldn't sell 666 in the U.S. because of the pissing, is it?
