Why not order them from the US and get an uncensored version at half the cost?

| Andy2 Member UK 157 Posts 3/05 | How do the Brits here keep up-to-date with new releases? Harmony used to do a weekly email newsletter with this info, but since their website closed down it's stopped. I know you can check the BBFC site to see what's upcoming, but the time between getting a classification and appearing in the shops seems to be very unpredictable. I'd also be interested to know of any US companies that give dates for UK releases on their websites - especially, how much longer till we get to enjoy Cum Fart Cocktails??? [Link] |

There is effectively nowhere you can look for what has been actually released and is in circulation in the UK on the net. The Melonfarmers list is out of date, and the BBFC info is conversely 'ahead of its time'. What I do now is check the BBFC website to see what has been classified and then telephone Harmony to find out if they've got it in their shops. Chances are that if they have then most other London shops will also. This isn't always the case though. A month or two ago I found JY Le C's Ass Wide Open 2 in a licensed shop in Soho, yet the Harmony shops didn't have it. However, this is very much the exception in my experience. Harmony's telephone number incidentally, in case you want it, is 0207 439 6261 (Charing X Rd branch). |

There are some priced at £29.99 but I don't buy these so don't know what they are. The handy thing about the London shops is that you can trade-in your R18s against new purchases so you are effectively only paying £9.99 or £15.99 (£10 trade-in value is standard) |
| sir wankalot Member UK 904 Posts 5/03 | Do they only take R18's? Evil Angel cheaper than Redlightdistrict? That is a turn around! Do they sell any GGG? I would guess if they did they would sell at the higher price range. Do they accept trade in R18 videos for £10. I have a few new Linzi Dawn Mckenzie ones that need a good home. |
| Another porn addict Member UK Member 315 Posts 2/05 | I've never had any of my discs turned down on account of scratches and the like. But then again I probably keep mine in fairly good nick. In my experience they just check the discs for surface damage at the front till where they take the money (cash or credit card incidentally). They just look at them (no checking them to see how they play or anything). Yes - they only take R18s but you might be able to use non-r18s against purchases in the unlicensed shops. I've done this on many occasions previously. But not for a while as I don't frequent the unlicensed establishments any longer. Yes they do sell GGG - though from memory nothing like the quantities that they have from Evil Empire and RLD. You might want to give the Harmony shop a call to find out exactly what they've got. Problem is that these shops don't tend to keep older titles for very long (which I think is a shame). Instead of keeping the older titles that they have had in previously they'll get rid of them fairly quickly and stock new titles in quantity. There are one or two shops in Soho proper however that do tend to keep a much larger range of older R18 titles. These aren't Harmony shops, but you'll soon find them if you hunt around. From memory, with the one's I'm referring to here you have to go down stairs to get to the sex shop bits (they have areas that stock non-sex books on the ground floor) Sorry don't know the price of the R18 GGG titles as I personally don't buy these (know that you're a big fan though!) Yes - at the moment they'll take both R18 vids and DVDs though am not sure how long things will stay this way for what with vids being on the way out and all. The beauty of this arrangement is that it does not matter where you've bought your R18s. If you've bought them in Cardiff, London, Edinburgh, Birmingham - wherever - you should still be able to trade them in at one of the licensed London shops. They don't ask for proof of purchase or anything. The only thing I would think they might have an issue with Sir W is if there were loads of scratches on any DVD that someone was trying to trade in. And also, if it was a really really old R18 then they might be a bit iffy about it. But I reckon one of the many other non-Harmony licensed shops would quite happily take such a title as part-exchange anyway. |

| Andy2 Member UK 157 Posts 3/05 | To be honest I've never tried exchanging - I always lose the receipts and I always think the guy on the counter will find some excuse to reject my DVD and it will be embarrassing. But I think I'll give it a go this week - a tenner's a tenner after all. |
