struan Member SCOTLAND 242 Posts 8/02	Posted - May 29 2005 : 6:49AM Apologies to the moderators for posting in this forum, rather than say ‘World News & Nonsense’, but as it has the heaviest traffic, I felt it was worth potentially incurring your wrath , to get the largest possible audience, as I feel this is an important issue (to some, at least). UK broadcast censor, er, I mean ‘Regulator’, Ofcom, has finally launched their new Broadcast Code, and contrary to the expectations of some (not to mention Ofcoms’s stated principals of Freedom of Expression, proportionate and evidence based regulation etc.), has decided to continue the prohibition on R18 material (hardcore as potentially censored by the BBFC) which means that all UK ‘adult channels’ will have to continue with their softcore only output. I was under the (perhaps incorrect?) impression that the German authorities stared to allow HC on TV last year e.g. on the “Premiere” satellite package? [Link]

What a waste of time, money and effort, IMO. * Proscription Order – Ofcom recommends that a channel be ‘proscribed’, which bans commercial support for that channel e.g. advertising, selling of viewing cards.
