This has been discussed before. If a movie I want to get is released on VHS first, then I always want to read about it (or rent it), so I'll be able to plan ahead if I think it's worth buying on DVD. I've saved a ton of cash by spending two and a half bucks on a VHS rental, only to realize the movie isn't worth buying on DVD.
Most people rent porn on VHS based on the inventory of my local stores. Moreover most DVD scenes are identical to the same VHS scene so a review of one applies to the other.
Den posted a review not an advocacy position for either VHS or DVD.
Good review Den, Erik says he has some bigger things planned at Red Light District, so if this is how he's coming along, can't wait to see what he's got planned.
MOD: Tone it down guys... Preferably we should stick to talking about DVDs in this forum. However if someone should post about VHS release, make sure to say CLEARLY that it's a VHS release. It should also have some nexus to an upcoming DVD release.
Hey man, VHS is still viable in the porn market...even moreso than in the mainstream market. My local store only rents VHS so I have to live with it....if UNNatural sex is a great VHs, maybe I will check it out.
Face it, we're kind of stuck -- us DVD-lovin' porn fans --- when one of the top 3 producers of REAL porn still has not got its shit together on simultaneous releases -- despite Cal444's heroic efforts. Yes, I want to know if the latest titles are up to par, as that will influence my DVD purchase. The fact that it's on video is problematic, but it should not preclude discussion.
Also, I have no idea how delayed DVD release constitutes greed. Seems more like Anabolic is LOSING money by not being in step with the times. RLD is kicking their bleeping ass to the curb!
That said, the boxcovers and pay-site downloads of the new shit looks HOT. I'm hoping Anabolic makes a big-ass comeback, because they really set the standard for their kind of wall-to-wall fuckfests. And have a great snout for fresh, errrrr, talent -- yeah, talent!
Eventually the VHS format will be a thing of the past similiar to how music CDs replaced vinyl records. DVDs are the wave of the Future in all Media: Porn, Movies, Music, etc.
I still can't understand why BIG companies like Anabolic/Diabolic & others out there can't release their new movies on DVD & VHS simultaneously!
I agree with Scott and to that end, I really don't understand what corporate model Ana/Dia seem to be using. Again this is not directed at Cal but what we've heard is either 1/2 excuses or nothing at all. Simultaneous is where it is at. I can't tell you the last time I rented a video tape and there is so much new product released on DVD on a weekly basis that the last thing I'm going to do is hunt down some VHS tape from a company that does not fully support the format, no matter how hot the content. I'm thrilled they are still putting out quality sex and I wish them the best but when it only appears on VHS and I have to wait anywhere from 6 months to a year for it on DVD, it totally flies off of my radar and becomes low priority. Frankly, I can understand why they have lost so much talent behind the camera. Besides the ownership issue, if I'm a director I want to know that the company I'm working for is able to change with the times and as of yet, Ana/Dia has refused to do that. So in typical lond-winded fashion, I guess I'm saying I don't really see why anyone would post VHS reviews on this forum either. They don't hurt but if we have no clue as to when we are going to see it on DVD...I don't see what purpose they serve. Thanks
