First, my apologies if this post is in the wrong forum and needs to be moved.

I have bought or rented some DVDs that have menus on the the picture during the scene. For example, the word "Oral" will be in the lower right hand corner while the scene is playing, and pressing the up or down arrow on the remote control will change the word to "Sex" or "Cumshot" and pressing enter will take you to the indicated section of the scene.

I don't want to see these words covering up the action and cluttering my TV screen. I have seen different variations of this on different DVDs, but the effect is the same; they ruin the scene for me. Is there any way to remove this clutter from the screen?

I have tried fooling around with my remote control, reading my DVD player's instruction manual and looking at the DVD menu screens, but have not found a way to remove the text. Does it depend on what type of DVD player I am using?

Thanks for your assistance.

Stop buying or renting so-called "interactive" DVDs.

To stop buying and renting interactive DVDs is really the solution.

I don't think the original poster was necessarily refering to "interactive" DVD titles.
I've experienced this on "regular" DVDs.

From Flash's review of "Hardcore Training #1":

"There are five chapters available from the main menu for Hardcore Training. They are identified by a video clip and the name of the female talent. There is one chapter available for each scene from the chapter menu. Red Light District has also included an in-scene menu that allows you to go to ‘oral’, ‘sex’, ‘anal’ and ‘cumshot’ for their occurrence in each scene. This system isn’t perfect as sometimes selecting it will take you to the next scene. There is also no option to remove this menu, which I don’t care for. There is a time code encoded on the disc for the feature film."

This "in-scene menu" annoyed the Hell out of me!
Based on a "Cum Dumpsters" clip, I bought this DVD just for the Gabriella Moore scene. The "in-scene menu" just ruined it, IMHO

Sounds a lot like pure evil stupidity to me *adding Hardcore Training to my ignore list*

Soon there will be a little animated figure appearing from the bottom of the screen saying "It looks like you're watching a pornographic movie , would you like to learn more about pornographic movies ?

Thanks, BigBobXXX, you understand exactly what I mean. Two examples of DVDs that are not advertised as "Interactive" but which have this "feature" are Pole Position 3 and Alexis Unleashed. I guess you didn't find any solution either, since you didn't mention anything.

I am thankful when reviewers mention watermarks or details like this. Den has started mentioning water marks; he is an invaluable resource!
