I noticed the Sex-Z Pictures website started selling Upload. However, unlike Corruption, they're only selling an XXX version. Can I assume this does NOT contain the fisting scene? I know there's supposed to be at least 1 such scene involving Hillary Scott, Michelle Aston, and Flick Shagwell. Since the website actually lists it as "Upload (XXX)", I assume that means they'll also be selling a Director's Cut somewhere down the road. Anybody know when? I'm really looking forward to this movie, but I'd rather not repeat the headache of buying the best available version of Corruption.
I noticed the same thing. But I suspect there really wasn't much retailer controversy bout Courruption after all (other than their own fears) and I suspect they're just leaving everything in Upload as is and not making a big deal out of it. The last thing they need is more people (like myself) running around trying to get the "correct" copy like with Corruption. As far as I know, the "Director's Cut" of that one is only the first printing DVD again anyway.
I'm wondering if this movie is even going to QUALIFY for the AVN Awards this year, since according to AVN's rules: "To be considered for a 2008 Awards Show nomination, a production must have been released between Oct. 1, 2006 and Sept. 28, 2007. By that date, a title must be in the hands of a minimum of 10 wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets." No retail outlet that I know of has this movie yet, which means no distributor (and certainly not 10 of them) had it by Sept. 28th, or retailers would have copies for sale by now. Of course, I'm sure AVN will "pull some strings" to make sure it's considered...but fair is fair - all the other studios have their "blockbusters" in stores right now.
I e-mailed both Terry Dubas and Bo Kenney earlier today with my Upload queries. Both Terry and Bo replied within a couple of hours. Very impressive, guys, I must say. Anyways, Terry and Bo confirmed that there are 2 versions - XXX and DIRECTOR'S CUT - and that both were already sold out. They did say that there would be more copies available within a week. I just checked the Sex-Z Pictures website a few minutes ago, and it looks you're able to order the XXX version again. In other words, clicking "Add to Cart" actually does just that. Still no sign of the DIRECTOR'S CUT on the website, however. I'm definitely holding out for that one.
Sold out to who? No stores have ever said they've had any copies of Upload. The only place who shows up on Price Search is TLA.com and they had it listed as pre-order until Tues when it went to backorder. So if it sold out, then who bought them, cause it doesn't look like it was the actual stores or else people would be saying they've seen, bought, and reviewed the movie. And they haven't listed a Director's Cut of Upload anywhere because that's the version I'd of course want to get. Unfortunately, something's beginning to smell a bit fishy.
I ordered it at adultvideouniverse and they shipped it yesterday, so it seems that there are at least some copies out there; but it is a bit strange that the majority of stores do not even have it listed one week after the avn deadline.
Yeah I just went there and saw it myself. And lower priced then what I paid as well of course (LOL knew that was going to bite me.) But they seem to be only selling the Triple XXX version as well, no sign of the XXXX Director's Cut. Which makes me wonder how one is supposed to get the Director's Cut? And again, why no one else is listed as selling it (Adult DVD Empire has it nowhere in stock and neither does MoviesbyMail, two places I KNOW are big sellers of SexZ DVD's.) I also sent an E-Mail to an Abby at SexZ (off the press release) to see if I can get an idea of how this works and why no one else seems to be selilng the DVD and why the Director's Cut isn't available. I'm already suspecting I"m going to go through the Corruption hurdles again. Hopefully not.
Oh, the hurdles and hoops I'll gladly jump through to see Eva Angelina get DP'ed. As if all this wasn't confusing enough, there's still the rumored Blu-ray release of this as well. If it even happens, there's no word on which version of the movie it'll be. Damn you, Sex-Z, and your impossible-to-find masterpieces!!!
AVN: Eli Cross' <iUpload</i Arrives in 4-Disc Set This article was just posted over at www.avn.com. It doesn't say anything specific about quantities and availabilty of the XXXX version. For what it's worth, I also e-mailed Abby to inquire about this release. XXXenophile: Have you received a response from Abby yet? If so, anything useful?
Nope, and since I don't live in the US the shipping will take a little longer, and since adultvideouniverse is always very upfront with the value of their packages, it will probably also be held up in customs before I finally get my hands on it.

I am totally confused about different editions of adult movies. I thought labeling something "XXX" or "Adult" meant that anything goes.
Usually yes. But there's always been a select group of things that generally don't get allowed here in the US that is allowed in Europe and other such places. In recent years, we're getting more lax with allowing some of those particular things show up in American porn movies (fisting obviously being the case here). To at least make sure no one ends up getting something they woudln't want and causing trouble, they're adding another X just to differentiate. In the end, it really shouldn't care to anyone but the film purist (yes there is such a thing even in porn) who wants to see the director's true cut of the film. I looked at the fisting in Corruption. My response was "ok I've finally seen how that looks. Now let's watch the movie." So it didn't effect me, but I want to see to see what Eli has in mind for every step of the film.

I live in Canada and fisting movies haven't been an issue here in Ontario. Ever since I have been buying porn I have seen them in shops. EDIT: I mean fisting and even pissing movies. I just didn't ever know that there was a version for the US and one for everywhere else of some films. There are exceptions, Canadian distributors get the US versions of many films, Rocco stuff is a good example. Have you seen this movie? I am not a big fisting fan so I don't think it would matter which version I got.
Nope haven't seen it yet and overall its not a big deal in the movie. Just one aspect of whatever scene its in. They're just covering their bases out here.

Okay, straight from the horse's... well, pick a chunk of the anatomy you feel best applies. VERSION - As has been mentioned below, there are two versions of the movie; the regular XXX edition, and the XXXX Director's Cut. Each is clearly marked along the bottom of the box either as the "Four Disc Collector's Edition" or as the "Four Disc Director's Cut." Additionally, the pictures on the front of the XXX box are clothed; The shots on the Director's Cut box are topless. The Director's Cut is 14 minutes longer than the regular XXX cut, and includes several fistings, two peeing scenes, and lots of hard bondage. The regular XXX cut has all of this excised, and has been slightly toned down in other ways to satisfy more timid retailers like Adult DVD Empire who complained about the Corruption Director's Cut. AVAILABILITY - Both versions are finished and in stores, however, most of those stores are on the East coast, so you might have trouble finding it further West. The reason you can't purchase the Director's Cut from the SexZ website is we didn't keep any for sale. It's been mentioned that our first pressings sold out; the fact is, we really underestimated demand for both versions, and Bo actually had to pull some copies from his own stores to fill orders. I don't even have a copy. The second pressing of each version just began being packaged today (being a four-disc digipak means the sets have to be hand-assembled which is a slow process), and should be available just about anywhere next week. If you're having troubled finding the Director's Cut, just look for it on the SexZ website next week and it'll be there. ELIGIBILITY - we did make the AVN deadline, but barely. I literally had to fly the last hard drive from L.A. to the authorer in Queens on a Sunday or we wouldn't have made it. And no strings were pulled. In fact, several big companies who felt stung by Corruption's win last year called to complain that we didn't make the deadline, and we had to furnish Paul with a list of retailers who had the movie in stock before the end of business on the 28th, which they then confirmed. There were 276 stores which is more than enough to beat the clock. We were, however, selling primarily to stores we could get product to in time for the deadline, which is why very few -- if any -- online retailers got movies from the first pressing. However, we made it in by the skin of our teeth and we'll be keeping our fingers crossed along with everyone else for the next three months. Having been trapped in editing for the last several months, I haven't looked in much, but I'll try to keep an eye on the boards. You can also always e-mail me at eli@sexz.com Take care. Eli

One of the reasons I love the classics such as sold at Alpha Blue Archives is that you see stuff not allowed today. Fisting , simulated rape, bondage etc...... If you ever get a chance pick up any movie with Long Jean Silver. She regualarly did other girls with her deformed half leg and I saw one movie with it up a guys ass to her knee. Phewwwwww.I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the movie. Vanessa Del Rio turned out her best performances in some of the bondage stuff and George Payne is a certifiable psycho.Names like Robin Byrd and Velvet Sommers or Summers come to mind as well as a very young and cute Sharon Mitchell.
ADE complained? Fraidy cats! Thanks very much for the response Eli. Now to see if there's any way to still get the Director's Cut since nothing's come out yet. (If TLA has even ordered any copies of it.) But glad to see everything explained. Great answers, great reasons, and still a great movie to look forward to. LOL Just get ready for the influx I'm sure of people wanting to make exchanges.
I've wanted to see a non-chopped up version of Taxi Girls for a long time. Ever since I read the comic adaptation that showed all the scenes and then when I got a copy of it finally noticed how so much stuff was gone. Edited by - XXXenophile on 10/11/2007 9:35:38 PM
Let's keep this thread us updated as possible. Should this be moved to the Shopping section? I wonder. Anyways, I'll be watching the Sex-Z website like a hawk. I'm glad to hear that there'll be virtually no way of mistaking the XXXX cut for the XXX version.
Yeah I'm still waiting to hear from TLA about if they're even going to attempt to sell any of the Director's Cut editions and if so, try to make a switch since I'm still on backorder. Otherwise, I'll end up getting it from SexZ's site as well. LOL and figure out which of my friends gets the other version I guess.
Well I got the response from TLA and I'm happy: They are now working on getting the Director's Cut in their order system (you can view it on their website) and they're changing my order so I can get the Director's Cut at no extra charge. So I'm in a very good mood.
I’ve got my copy of the XXX version now and although I haven’t had the chance to really sink my teeth (or whatever) into it, it definitely is another winner. Eva Angelina is perhaps not as strong an actress as Hillary Scott turned out to be in Corruption (although we get some of Hillary here as well) and I’m not sure if Eli Cross succeeds as well in establishing a mood here, but then again, quite not as good as Corruption still means it is on a whole other level than virtually all other porn features. What surprised me a bit though was that the visuals felt somewhat experimental; there is often a shaky handy-cam feel to the story parts and the sex scenes sometimes have a bit of soft focus, sometimes washed-out colors, and sometimes seem a bit overexposed. All this is obviously intentional, but raincoaters who are into crystal-clear and flatly lighted couch porn might perhaps find themselves a bit dissatisfied. Still, this is a very long film where sex and storytelling are really interweaved, and the sex scenes are not only long and intense but often have some imaginative twist to them, so I doubt that anyone can feel they aren’t getting much more here than they could wish for - but, of course, if they still do wish for more, then there's always the Director's Cut...

Thanks Tristram. I'll be curious to see what you think when you've gotten all the way through. We were trying to make a movie as different from Corruption as we possibly could, and decided to lift a bit of the photography style from the new Battlestar Galactica which does have a very "live" feel to the camerawork. And, yes, I'm sure the gonzo folks will hate the way we chose to make the movie look. But we took our visual cues from Minority Report and Bladerunner and I think (or at least, hope) we succeeded. I'm sure the raincoat crowd will wish we'd taken our visual cues from the hardware aisle in Wal-Mart, but that's their opinion and they're certainly entitled to it. For those who are interested, the XXXX cut is shipping now. SexZ's website will have it up for sale as soon as they've filled orders, and Kylie's store (http://www.kylieirelandstore.com/) will have it up for sale by week's end.
Wow. Battlestar Galactica, Minority Report, and Blade Runner all cited as influences? I'm loving this movie already. I'm all for experimentation in any business, let alone porn. I applaud what Eli is trying to do with these movies. I don't need gonzo-style camera work when I'm watching a feature. I watch features to invest myself in the storyline, even if it's one of the all-too-common cheesy ones. Leave gonzo visuals for gonzo films.
Hear Hear! Ordered the movie cause I wanted to see the MOVIE as well as whatever sex is inside. So I'm now chomping at the bit even more for when my copy finally gets here.
Having spent some time with Upload (XXX) now, I can say that it really is another stunning film. I've written a review that will probably be up in a while, but the short of it is that Upload, just like Corruption, makes all those so-called blockbuster features from Wicked, Vivid, and Digital Playground pale in comparion. I do worry a bit about Upload in terms of marketing though, there is a risk that the gonzo crowd will find it to artistic in the way that it's shot and that the raw and rough nature of much of the sex will prevent it from breaking into the couples market. Hopefully it will however appeal to both segments, because it really does deserve it. I suspect that the XXX version was quite explicit enough for me, but I still look forward to hearing more about the Director's Cut when people get their hands on it.

I think you will be quite impressed with the extras...we worked extra hard to make a "Making of Upload" that is slick and entertaining. In the 2 + hours of the 'Making of' you learn all about the conception, the look, the production, post and the special effects. In addition there is a seperate 'outtakes' segment, "Upload: The Emergency Cut" which is hysterical, a bonus sex scene and more... There is no commentary. That was a misprint in a press release somewhere. There is a commentary planned for the HD version later on but I think you will find the Making of pretty informative... Love to hear what you all think!
I've watched a good portion of the "making of" and it's very good, a revealing look into the thought-processes and work that lie behind the film, not just (as such featurettes often are in porn) footage of a bunch of people goofing around on set. You also get to understand how important Kylie is in the process. She and Eli really seem to be not just a couple, but a team. Let's hope they do more of these large-scale projects.
Just wanted to let y'all know that I received my copy of Upload: The Director's Cut DVD from kylieirelandstore.com yesterday -- a mere 6 days after I ordered it. Very impressed with the quick response, especially since the site tells you to expect 2-3 weeks for delivery. I haven't watched any of it yet; waiting for my next day off from work before I sink my balls into this behemoth. But I have been ogling the DVD packaging for quite some time now. It's a real slick product, I must say. Best of all, my copy was autographed by Kylie Ireland AND Eli Cross! I mentioned in the "Notes" box that I was hoping for Eli to attend AEE in January so I could get him to sign my copy. The DVD costs $10 more on SexZ's website, so you really can't beat this deal. Order now while supplies last! Thank you, Kylie! Can't wait to see you in Vegas.
TLA's sending my copy out next week at least according to the website. As always I can patiently wait. Just glad to see everyone's getting their copies the way they'd like them.
Has anyone seen this movie. I've been looking all over the internet for a review but can't seem to find one. Just wondering if I should spend my hard earn money in this flick. Sounds awesome, looking for some feedback about the Eva angelina scenes. I read one review that she does a mini bukkake at the end. I hope this is true and how covered in cum does her face get. Thanks
I have not gone out trying to buy this yet. I am wondering if anyone knows about how the different versions fared with the Ontario Film Review Board? Is it released for Canadian retail? What version/s if any can I expect to buy at a local adult shop? I live in downtown Toronto if that helps. And I have no interest in mail order. I like to bring my business to local shops.
And TLA says my copy went out today so I'm happy like a clam so now to just see how fast the mail is. LOL I've had so many DVD's dissapear on me, this should be interesting.

That movie is called simply Long Jean Silver, and it was directed by Alex De Renzy (not one of his better films, but still a must see for the weirdness of it all). Eli, you seem to be one of the few newish directors interested in working in features, are there any xxx 'classics' from the 70s or 80s that you admire?
Heard from Bobby yesterday and guess they just got some in so it'll probably be Mon maybe when I get it, mailing today from CA to AZ shouldn't take but a couple days but thanks for getting back to me here.

BlackSix, I've been in porn for almost nineteen years, so I'm not sure I classify as "newish," but there are some 70s and 80s titles that I think are great... Smoker was always a favorite, just for all the bondage. I loved some of the harder Marilyn stuff, particularly Up n' Comin' and the Private Fantasies with the fisting scene in the peepshow booth. In general, I liked DeRenzy's movies better than Gerard Damiano's, but both of them left their best work in the sheets of the 70s (with a few exceptions). Moving into the 80s, I really liked Rinse Dream's new-wave porno (talk about Alt-porn), and then the things Greg Dark shot following in Dream's footsteps (and boy did it piss off Dark to call him on it).

You're correct Eli, I guess you're 'newish' only by the standards of Damiano or DeRenzy. Great to see you mention SMOKER! That is a real gem of a movie, too bad it isn't out on DVD. You really seem to know your stuff. Have you seen any Shaun Costello, Joe Davian, Zebedy Colt or Phil Prince films? They're among the most extreme films of the 70s and I thought Corruption was reminscent of their approach, but sexier. I enjoyed Corruption and Upload looks even better.
