Hot on the heels of the UK & Scottish Government’s proposals to criminalise the possession of so-called ‘extreme porn’, the Scottish Parliament’s equal opportunities committee has accepted a petition from the pro-censorship, extremist (so-called) feminist pressure group ‘Scottish Women Against Pornography’ (S.W.A.P), which asserts that ALL adult porn should be considered incitement to hatred against women, and therefore outlawed. If you are lucky enough to live the in free world, please feel free to contact the Scottish authorities, perhaps to detail how adult entertainment is ‘regulated’ in your country etc. If any pornstar ADT members feel the urge to convey their feelings toward, & experiences of, the industry, please feel free. As usual, we are fighting an uphill struggle, but if we just sit back and do nothing, and S.W.A.P. get to impose their view on society at large, we could end up with the complete prohibition of ALL adult porn. As this petition first surfaced back in 2004, and was assumed to have ‘died a death’, but didn’t, as well as the biased comments from the committee’s convenor, this seems to be a potentially serious threat. Remember also, this is an election year in Scotland, when politicians are at their most ‘receptive’ to the concerns of the electorate, whatever side of the argument they are on.

| struan Member SCOTLAND 242 Posts 8/02 | Posted - Jan 13 2007 : 6:11PM As for downloading, I'm not sure – If the 'extreme porn' proposals go through, mere possession will make people liable to (upto) 3 years in prison, whereas existing censorship concerns distribution of material, so you can (currently) possess whatever (adult) material you wish. It’s one thing to risk the (relatively anonymous) purchase of ‘offending material’ in ‘hard copy’ form on the ‘black market’, but another thing entirely to download it, given the lack of privacy involved (monitoring & retention of surfing habits, emails etc.) – you may as well sign your own arrest warrant! You know, like the rest of the topics on this board. With this in mind, I'm editing a number of posts to remove the offensive parts and argument, so that the topic may restart without new readers to it reacting to the closed issue of insults. There's already been someone warned, so I'm sure that person will respect the rules of this forum so that they may continue to be a happy member here. Having said that though, I'll thank all members of ADT who particpate in this thread to stay on topic and avoid insulting one another or anyone else. It's a pretty important issue for a number of ADT's members, and ceratinly of interest to those outside of Scotland. Derailment and insults will not be looked upon kindly. Thank you. scipio
