I think there is a bit of over analyzing going on considering the differences in society and what kind of porn is churned out. The fact is that there are all kinds of porn coming from both the US and Europe. Whatever people here perceive to be specifically American or European is likely just a subjective impression. Like someone said, 99% is crap (that's a rule that covers more than porn as well). What I love about European porn is stuff coming from Private and Marc Dorcel. It just looks great. Better than the big budget Vivid stuff in my opinion. I'm not a gonzo guy. Yet I do love the North Pole movies which are American, just for the energy Peter has with the girls, despite sometimes boring and simple locations. I care about some thing, while I don't want to see other stuff. I can't really judge where the best overall stuff comes from, and I doubt most other people can do that either.
Perhaps U.S. Porn "invaded" Europe because Europeans _want_ to buy U.S. style porn. Perhaps European companies are shifting their styles because that is what best sells. Hey, I'm just one guy from the Midwest who spends ~95% of his porn budget on U.S. style European productions. I didn't change Europe, but sure as hell I'm gonna enjoy it :D
