| choad Member 124 Posts 1/04 | i recently saw an auction from a seller in Canada stating: "Don't be fooled into buying the US version of this DVD. There is no such thing as a USA unedited version. Every state in the USA has different censorship laws, therefore the US versions vary from state to state. Some may have left out many of the good parts. So, BEWARE! My version is the true Canadian unedited version with all the extras for your complete satisfaction. " I've also heard CANADIAN versions are the edited ones. Does anyone know what's really going on?? cheers Topic Moved by - saki on Feb 2 2004 [Link] |

Also, a lot of store owners are worried to put something with fisting on their shelf, especially with the Extreme Associates trial not decided yet. As far as Canadian versions of US movies, they are much worse than the originals coming out of the US. Here's the thing. Because the Canadian market isn't all that big, any US movie sent to a Canadian company that plans on releasing it themselves (i.e. Valentine Video), they will just use the US version of the movie and then cut out the rough stuff etc. However, if you rent a German or French title released by a Canadian company here, it will have fisting etc in it. I don't know why the Canadian companies wouldn't ask US companies for the European versions of their movies, that way they could take advantage of the fisting market that is highly ignored up here in Canada unless it's a straight up fisting title imported from Europe for release in Canada. I never understood that. The one exception to that rule was the Seymore Butts stuff that had fisting in it. Whoever was releasing his movies up here in Canada was asking him for the European versions because that's what we were seeing up here, fisting in Seymore Butts titles (Tampa Tushy Fest etc.) Also, the laws vary by province, so it's much less of a headache for Valentine Video to release a vanilla version of a movie to the whole country than it is to release a more risque version and have to worry about which province will give them a hard time about it, if you know what I mean. If you are in canada, i highly recommend somehow obtaining a us version, Adultdv-depot.com is a good place to buy if you are in canada. |
| DreamWeaver Member 288 Posts 10/02 | To answer your question clearly: Canadian versions are more heavily edited then U.S versions. Being a resident of Canada and purchasing titles across the country and purchasing titles from various states throughout the U.S.A, I can tell you without a doubt that Canadian titles will have a lot of the footage cut (although not all the time). I purchase all my titles from the U.S. I've seen the ad you're referring to and either he/she is clueless or is simply marketing their auction in a dishonest fashion. |

Are the prices slightly cheaper there or is there some other reason why such a disproportionate number of sellers (of EA, RLD, Anabolic etc) come from north of the border? SNP. |
| DreamWeaver Member 288 Posts 10/02 | The prices are pretty much the same in Canada. However, if you factor in the exchange rate and the cost of shipping titles from outside the country, it's cheaper to buy at home. As far as the number of ebay sellers being from canada, it appears many of them are in the biz / retailers. |
