Ummm are you asking how many use drugs? The answer is the same as how many stock brokers use drugs. There is a percentage in any industry of field. Most of the girls I hang out with tend to be very anti-drug use though. They make their living off how good they look destroying that is not smart and they know it.

You don´t need to be in porn to use drugs. All you need is a pulse, a dealer, money to burn and a weak will.

I know a priest who´s deep into crack. He says it "makes it easier to speak to God". Makes sense. Crackheads die young, so OF COURSE their talks with God will come sooner than expected.

As well, there are drugs, and then there are drugs.

Ganga once in a while is less tough on your body than alcohol is. Probably isn't tough at all -- unless you smoke it all the time. Which becomes bad for your lungs, like cigarettes. Not to mention your mental accuity.

Ecstasy can be used in moderation by most people with no addiction and no bad lasting effects. (But it can certainly also be abused, with at least psychological addiction.)

The hard stuff --- crack is just REALLY hard to not get totally hooked to if you use it AT ALL. Heroin only a little less so, even if "only" sniffed or smoked. It grabs an addiction pretty damn fast. If you don't stay way from these you are a fool, and you're throwing your life away, or long long portion of it. Injected anything is seriously bad news of course. It's possible to use powdered cocaine in moderation, but its pretty damn addiction dangerous. And expensive.

Getting drunk or black out drunk all the time is one of the tougher things to do to your body. But obviously a large majority of the country can and does sometimes drink without becoming alchoholics. Though there are a lot of alcoholics out there, for sure.

Yes, they do, right after they've visited their pharmacist with the prescription their Doctor prescribed for their occasional illnessess and other medical conditions.
Snatch 'em up when she's looking the other way.

Thats not totally true.
Ecstasy is very much a hard drug.
I don't think its at all accurate to say it can be used in moderation because its the most likely drug to kill with 1 hit.

The great thing about girls in porn using drugs is that if they are heavily addicted you can get them to do really degrading and humiliating things because their judgement is so clouded. Then, when they see what bukkake/gangbang/choke fuck horror they involved themselves in they say "Oh my God! What have I done?!!! That image of me being degraded is going to be out there forever!" Then they cry in despair and sink deeper and deeper into addiction.

You know, I realise we all want to talk nice about the porn performers and we all want the porn industry to be acceptable in a mainstream sort of way, but I'm gonna tell the truth here. I have learned more about recreational drugs since I came to this business than I ever knew before, and I have always considered myself a fairly street savvy person. I have seen so many different drugs snorted, huffed, swallowed, shot and smoked in the past year and a half that I am more often surprised when there are NO drugs in the make-up room, on the set, or behind the scene than when there are.
It's not just the girls.
It's not just the performers.
I don't know if this industry lends itself to drug use, or if it attracts people who tend to be addictive or weak-willed. I don't even know if what I've seen constitutes a majority or a minority or an evenhanded cross sample. I just know what I've seen.
People I talk to tend to be surprised when they find that I don't smoke, drink or do anything except over the counter allergy pills. (L.A. is a harsh place for my midwestern sinuses.) If it's so surprising that I don't, it seems that it would be usual if I did.

Kimi--

Thanks for saying that.

I've done enough reading about behind the scenes to absolutely know what you said was true. But I also didn't figure that my saying it would hold much weight, at least without my going through an evidentiary song and dance. Which I didn't feel like doing, and kicking up the dust again.

Esp. after what Lee said. Which while it may be true about HIS group of closer friends in the biz., also did seem rather like a whitewash in what he was more or less implying. (Sorry Lee.)

Honesty and forthrightness is refreshing!!!

Of course it's pretty common in mainstream Hollywood as well. But I don't think nearly as much so, or much more importantly to the excesses, as in porn. (You'll just have to star in some mainstream films Kimi, and give as an eyewitness, honest report!!!) A significant percentage of porn girls seem to really wreck themselves.

For the record, I've never done any drug on a regular basis. I did go through a cautiously experimental phase. But I'm not totally abstemious about soft stuff necessarily.

BTW, are you back in Cleveland now, or still on the *wicked* Coast?

No offense taken there dex and it is all about who you know. Kimi is right though in that this industry is more accepting of drug use then any place I know of. I could list a whole lot of reasons why but most of you know them already. The main difference in this industry is the openness with which it occurs. Name one other place where you can get invited to a party in a hotel lobbey and the girls inviting you will list the drugs there in front of everybody. Most places people try to hide their drug use but here they are up front about it. While I have tried on occasion to play the "grown-up" especially considering my total lack of tolerence for drug use it is kind of hard to explain to a 19 year old kid she shouldn't do that as she is getting ready for an anal gangbang with 10 guys she doesn't know. (Yes I am making that up but you get the idea).

That being said I stick by my earlier statement in regards to the women I know. As I stated before I tend to not like being around drug use so when I see it I find somewhere else to be. To the person doing the drugs I will be polite in the future but that will be about it.

Now why didn't I say this earlier? Well I am an optomist. In that I hope there aren't as many people who do drugs as there is in other professions.

While porn is a small industry, there are definitely different sects. I've been to a handful of sets and porn event and never seen any drugs. I've seen a heck of a lot of pot smoking, but I don't count that as a "drug".

In the 8 years I spent in CA (5 northern, 3+ southern) I saw a ton of drugs. In my limited experiences, drug use seemed more of a casual affair in CA than say New England.

Kimi, I also would like to thank you for your honesty, good for you.

Your post made me think a bit..
I wonder if it's not neccessary the porn industry itself, but maybe the mindset of liberalism that leads to more recreational drug use.

I mean you must admit to have sex on camera for others to watch and enjoy you need an open mind. And to work on such a production you'd need an open mind as well.

I'm theorising as I go of course, but it's just been my experience that people that are "on the edge of normalicy" in any way, be it tattoos and piercings, pornography or something else, are more apt to experiment and accept the idea of drug use.

Not that that's always a bad thing

Ok.. yeah this is the porn industry.. and yeah people do drugs.. but, in all honesty.. I think that it's actually easier to find people in any walk of life that do or that have tried drugs than it is to find people that haven't. Maybe it's just that I've always been in the areas where it is.. or that I lived on the wrong side of the tracks.. or whatever.... but, it's around..
I do have to say.. that while in school and in college.. I did some research on drugs.. through actual books people.. as well as talking to other people that I knew.. quite easy to do.. sheesh.. and hey, I wasn't an angel when I was younger.. but, if there is one thing that is so frustrating it's when people think they know everything about drugs. Noone can know it all.. and as much that there is out there.. well.. you can call something one thing but, whether or not you are getting that is another story.. so..
*Ecstasy* is not anywhere near as fatal as heroin. Heroin has a fatality rate of about 85% if not higher. One pill of Ecstasy will not kill you. Whatever is in the pill might but, not MDMA. If you take out the second M in the MDMA you will have a different chemicle makeup which will be a lot more toxic to your system. This might not be so good. But, in tests that have been made throughout the years.. actual MDMA is not as harmful as some of the people on TV and the DEA would like you to think.. You also have to take into consideration that some people have a different chemicle makeup of their own.. and might react differently to certain types of drugs period.
If you read the book you will find out that the only reason that MDMA is actually a schedule III drug is because the DEA has the power to overthrow the ruling decision of the Supreme Court in a final decision. This was a drug they knew they could make money on.. and they took that opportunity. There is a lot more to it than that.. but, I'm not going to write the book out for ya.
What is killing the people taking Ecstasy is not MDMA but, the heroin, pcp, speed, and any other chemicle they can add to the pill to make it seem stronger. Not to mention that most people that do the drugs are mixing the pills they are taking with alcohol and other drugs. Add that with the fact that they are usually at raves not drinking water.. mixing drugs and dancing all night.. they are likely to dehydrate faster than they could even realise it. That is the largest killer right there. For once maybe just maybe it would be so wonderful for people to get their info right. If you want to know more.. go to www.erowid.com
it has all kinds of info on drugs. That is if you want the truth and help in identifying things that people try to give you. Just be safe, don't be stupid, and for God's sake people... take care of yourself... Be responsible. Know what it is that is going on.. what you are doing.. and rely on yourself.. in a lot of cases that is all you can rely on. I'm not trying to be an advocate.. I just think that people have a right to information and other rights as well but, anyway.
Drugs are everywhere.. all you have to do is ask and I'm sure you'll find them. They are in office buildings.. doctors offices.(and not just in the cabinets).. lawyers.. police... officials.. come on.. the porn industry is just a target because we are already seen as "seedy"... this industry is no different than any other.. if anything.. we're a lot more upfront about things.. maybe a little more real.. and not so stuck up about shit.. perhaps the fact that some people in the industry don't hide that they do drugs.. is a bone of contention for people that aren't in the business that want to.. when you work in a "free-er" environment.. some people well.. I guess get jealous for lack of a better way of putting it.. and I'm not saying it's just the drugs.. but, the whole frame work.. anyway, getting off subject.. I don't think that drug use differs much.. what I think differs is the amount of people willing to admit to it versus the ones that wont.. in any industry.. plain and simple..
I could go on.. but, I'd only add to the info about drugs.. that is one versus the other in toxicity levels.. anyway.. just my thoughts..
There are people out there that can and do .. do drugs that you probably wouldn't think of.. mostly cause they are more responsible about their usage.. funny thought huh..
But, of course there are others that aren't.. I'm sure you could figure those out..
and about the "great things about ... etc..".. sheesh.. I hope noone is doing something like that.. unfortunately maybe.. but, I wouldn't want to see anyone do drugs and allow themselves to be taken advantage of by someone and then degrade them just to sell it.. but, hey, I'm not into that kind of thing.
As for drug use on sets.. maybe I'm just lucky.. but, I've maybe seen it twice in the 3 years I've been working.. I do not take drugs on set I don't do drugs on set.. I will never do drugs and work.. I just can't fathom that.. but, if there was anything that was ever on set.. it was only pot.. and as Steph said.. I hardly see that as a drug when there is so much more out there that can be abused..
Anyway, these are just my thoughts.. or opinions.. and yes.. this industry is a lot more liberal.. I can't imagine it any other way.. but, that does add to the openness..
I'm not an advocate of drug use.. and I'm not a preacher against it..do what you want to do.. but, do it responsibly.. you can save your own life if you pay attention..
