Over the past few years, as VCA has issued many of their classic releases in DVD format, I've upgraded as the titles became available. Some titles, while released by VCA in VHS format, never made the transition to DVD. Others like the Taboo American Style series have ended up being released by another company (Fat Dog). I recently found 2 of the titles below ('Hostage Girls' and 'Jailhouse Girls') released by Alpha Blue Archives. All of the titles below were produced by a company called "Nibo Films". Did VCA lose the rights to these films? At the very least, I thought they'd release "Maid in Manhattan" with Vanessa Del Rio!
Nina Is Taboo (1985)
Taboo American Style 1: The Ruthless Beginning (1985)
Taboo American Style 2: The Story Continues (1985)
Taboo American Style 3: Nina Becomes an Actress (1985)
Taboo American Style 4: The Exciting Conclusion (1985)
Supergirls Do General Hospital (1984)
Hostage Girls (1984) (Alpha Blue Archives release)
Hypersexuals (1984)
Jailhouse Girls (1984) (Alpha Blue Archives release)
Maid in Manhattan (1984)
Pleasure Channel (1984)
Pussycat Galore (1984)
Sex Spa USA (1984)
Supergirls Do the Navy (1984)
Nasty Girls (1983)
Maneaters (1983)
Piggy's (1983)
The Devil in Miss Jones, Part II (1982)

They did release DMJ 2. As to whether they lost the rights I don't know. If they were made by another company they may have only leased the rights to begin with. At the current time, since LFP became involved with them, VCA seems to have stopped releasing their true classics. I don't know if they ever plan to release more.

This really sucks,VCA has far to many classics that are not released on dvd.
It sure would be nice to know why so many of their titles have not been released.
Hopefully LFP will get around to releasing some of these classic titles, that would be nice.

Since the ones they've previously released appear to slowly be going out of print I expect no more will be coming out.

A pity if LFP is moving away from releasing the '80s classics. The first adult film I saw in a theater was Vanessa Del Rio's "Maid in Manhattan", a VCA release. The films I listed in my original post were the first ones I purchased on VHS. I noticed that the performers in these films were almost a repertory company. Herschel Savage, Jerry Butler, Paul Thomas, Joey Silvera, Sharon Kane, Taija Rae, and Brooke Fields were among the stars who appeared in most productions. Ron Sullivan (Henri Pachard)directed many of them.
If LFP/VCA is moving away from these classic films, I hope they lease the rights to another company, like Fat Dog, so they can still be available.

Maybe Afterhours Cinema will put out some of the Pachard films. They are planning a Carter Stevens box set.

I hope it doesn't contain yet another release of Teenage Twins. There are enough releases of that one already. Rollerbabies or Jailbait would be nice.

Rollerbabies is Carter's favorite film so I'm sure that will have priority.

You'll want to upgrade that PUNK ROCK copy. The new release will be from a print, not a video, and will be a director approved transfer.

Since what VCA categorizes as classics these days doesn't generally fit the mold of Golden Age classics, I'm going to include the following John Leslie movies as must need releases:
Second Skin (1989)
Laying the Ghost (1991)
Angels (1992)
Also, why are they discontinuing such classics as "The Catwoman", which is considered by many to be one of the best adult films ever made? To me, it just doesn't make sense.

It looks like VCX is now releasing a version of Deep Throat to take over for VCA's old version. I know there is no need for another version of Deep Throat with all of them out there, however I wonder if this means they will be releasing other VCA releases that have gone out of print.

They seem to be taking quite an interest in the classics at the moment: Smoker and Seven Into Snowy are already out, and Babyface is apparently coming shortly.

I didn't realize they were releasing true classics again. I found Smoker and that they have released Both Ways. I can't find any reference to 7 Into Snowy coming out from VCA, just the old TVX release and the OOP Collector Classix releases.

I know Smoker is cut. I wonder if Both Ways has survived intact, considering it has an 8 year old boy in a major supporting role.

According to a review on the IMDB, VCA has excised 15 minutes from the film at some point. I doubt, given their track record, that the 15 minutes have been returned.

I probably wrote that review...
Jerry Douglas told me that his original cut ran 94 minutes and the VCA had chopped it up even for their early releases due to the child actor.
Too bad. I'd love to see the film completely uncut as it's one of the very few X rated films to use bisexuality, but as a narrative device, and it does it so well.
