I've noticed on the VCX website that several of their titles have new covers that say "REMASTERED" at the top. Titles include: "Girls on Fire", Sex World", "Candy Goes To Hollywood", Sex Boat", "Sweet Alice", "Inside Désirée Cousteau" and more. Has anyone viewed these remastered versions and know how they compare to the previous VCX releases? I'm interested in upgrading my copy of "Sex World", but could not find any reviews on any of the newly remastered titles.

I've been having trouble finding the actual remastered versions in stores. The original release of Girls on Fire is a mess. But as of yet I haven't found any store that can confirm having the remastered version. And they have been out for a few years now. The only one that I found and picked up was Expensive Taste. The transfer wasn't that much better than the original release, however they fixed the scene error that was present in the original version.

VCX's definition of "remastered" is to take their old 3/4 inch or 1-inch tape masters from the late 70's and early 80's and feed them into some computer system and boost the contrast and color so they don't look as dreadful as they have.
The releases are the same tape sourced junk they've been putting out for years.

Thanks for the info and the links to the pictures. I may get the remastered version of Sex World. The rm version seems to look slightly better in the picture links, but I can do a side-by-side screencap comparison once I get the remaster.

The white spots are not image drop outs. They're 35mm print damage. They'd still be there even if this were remastered directly from film.
However, this is clearly taken from the same tape VCX has been using for years. How pathetic.

I thought the Sex World DVD was decent quality, considering the low standards of other classic releases, but it would be nice to see this great film get a Platinum-like treatment.

I guess there is no reason to 'upgrade' to the remastered version then if "Sex World" looks exactly the same as it does on the initial DVD release.

Well, I purchased the remastered release of Sex World and compared it to the initial release and there is a noticeable difference. Although the dust and scratches still remain, the colors and brightness are much better in the remastered release. The remastered version also include a bonus gallery and vintage trailers for other VCX releases.
I haven't compared the audio. but here are some side-by-side screen caps of "Sex World" so you can get an idea of the improvement. I purchased this through Adult DVD Marketplace from 1price for a decent price.
