I thought Bang.com was an entirely new site but apparently they have the rights to a lot of the back catalog of companies like Red Light District, Platinum X Pictures, and Voyeur Productions: Red Light District Platinum X Pictures Voyeur Productions There are quite a few older scenes I already own which are available in 540p on the site, which would be an upgrade in resolution compared to what's in my current collection. My question is, are these 540p versions any good? Are they just blown up versions of the 480p originals? I thought if something was shot for 4:3 for DVD back in the day 480p was the max resolution. Am I wrong? Edited by - Mister Fahrenheit on Nov 11 2016
I had a trial account with them the other week (was a $1 upsell on another site subscription), and while I can't help with the resolution/quality question, I can add that their catalogue seemed to be sub-licensed from well-known archive videosz.com - the downloads were hosted on that company's network, albeit with the videos seemingly re-encoded to include the bang.com logo. (Mentioning it because maybe somebody has experience with those scenes through Videosz rather than Bang.) Incidentally, that trial was full-featured, so I assume Bang's regular $3.95 trial also allows downloads, in case you want to check out the scene quality yourself for less than a full subscription.
I don't know the answer to the first question but I can answer the second question. The maximum resolution depends on what it was shot on and mastered on. There are some formats that shoot 4:3 in a higher resolution than 480 (p or i). In addition, some of the 480 (p or i) material, if it was sourced from a VHS tape, is actually in 250i. The master is the key and then the limitations of the format you are putting it into.
^^ Thanks for pointing out the videosz.com connection, I'll edit the title of my post to reflect that. So the Bang.com watermark is on there huh? Not to thrilled about that, but it is the world we live in. ^ Flash, what are some things I should look for if the scenes on the site were just sloppily blown up beyond their original max resolution? Blockiness in the image or a look like it might be "painted." When an image is upscaled a program has to guess at what is there to fill it in. Sometimes you end up noticing more of a blockiness to the image (which can also be a sign of a low bit rate) and sometimes putting in the colors gives things like skin a look like the color was painted on and not quite right. The bigger the screen the more noticeable it will be.
Just like DVDs can handle more than 480p. I don't think anyone has ever issued one in better resolution but shorter adult movies could be in 720p on a DVD.
I have a trial membership currently, if you want to know about any specific scene i can download and report results. Overall quality on site not so impressivve.
The DVD standard itself only supports 480i or 576i. You're right that higher resolutions themselves would fit on a DVD (4.7 or 8GB), but the DVD standard from the mid-90ies only allows the MPEG2 video codec. So noone would release a DVD (which would bear the DVD logo) with a different encoding or another resolution. One could nowadays probably put MP4 files on a physical DVD, and lots of new players would be able to play the individual files, but then Menus go out of the Window.
^ Thanks for sticking up for me but he's right, I should have said thanks again after he came back with the info. I do appreciate it bahadir. I don't remember the other time you helped me though, but nonetheless I'm sorry for not thanking you then either. Edited by - Mister Fahrenheit on 11/20/2016 6:51:24 PM
Did you remember you were need to help to find an Elegant Angel Tori Black scene in 1080p ? I dont want to be harsh, and i always try to help others in forums i write if there's a way to do and dont wait for anything, but when its second time with same person this make me feel like a fool.
If you make this statement you have to explain what's wrong with my attitude. I didn't do anything other than paste a picture from scene and technical info. Very childish.
actually, by asking someone to thank you, when you help them out. that makes you out to be more petty than the people, who are genuinely grateful for your help and returns the favor in the future. btw,you do not need to check your attitude and he is not very childish. this IS called the internet and social norms don't really apply to anonymous forum interactions unless violating the forum rules of course. but regarding the quality of Bang.com, they are mostly legit in terms of quality. I got some 1080p old scenes, which were pretty clear, meaning they got their hands on the original files?
Please everyone, could we just drop it? I didn't intend to make you feel like a fool bahadir, I apologize. I am genuinely grateful for your help. And Flash was just trying to stick up for me so no need to go at him. Let's just consider this matter closed.
