Probably like a lot of you, I've been stuck at home for most of the year. I've subscribed to some new sites, because why not? It has opened my eyes up to a lot of actresses and directors I was not familiar with. So I re-upped to videobox after having been away for a couple of years.

What happened to their content? It seems like any actress that worked within the last 20 years now only has 2-3 videos you can download without subbing to another site. And older scene content is only a fraction of what it was couple of years ago.

The used to have a lot of Brandon Iron (RIP) content... totally gone.

While VB was once an incredible value, I honestly feel I sort of wasted my money this time around.

Does anyone know what happened with their content? More importantly has another site taken the mantle?

I dropped VIDEOBOX earlier this year. Years ago Their big selling point was the amount of content they had. I liked their sight because of the amount of content they had from so many different studios and older stuff that would be harder to find elsewhere. I didn't mind if they didn't have the newest scenes because I'm fine if a scene is good even if it is a few years old. All this and the subscription price was good. But over the last few years they began to remove lots and lots of scenes/movies. Meanwhile the updates they wre posting daily took a huge dip in quality. By the time my yearly renewal came up the site had very little I wanted to watch and seemed to only be getting worse. I let it go and don't miss it at all. I don't quite understand how they took such a nosedive in content.

I used to be a regular and sometimes recurring VB member. I think I had a recurring membership there for at least two years back seven or eight years ago. I haven't been back since so thanks for noting these changes.

For me, leaving VB was more about a change in my porn tastes than a change in VB. I began to think of VB as a cheap all-you-can-eat porn buffet. They sold quantity over quality. My tastes became a bit more discerning and over the past seven or eight years I've moved more to the 'gourmet' side of things by taking memberships in specific sites that I like. Several years ago I even culled hundreds of lower-grade titles from my collection, many of them from VB. That's never happened before.

What bugged me most about VB for the last couple of years I was a member there was the heavy reliance on compilations and the constant repetitions. There are some scenes there (at least there used to be) that probably appear in 10 or more DVDs on the site.

But... it's still bad news that VB has changed as much as you've found. I frequently recommended memberships to people just starting to collect porn. It was an obvious next step for people who had previously only watched pirated stuff. VB was cheap, safe and had tons of porn for all tastes.

This is bad news.

Bang.com and Videoz (they're mirror sites for the non-exclusive stuff), while smaller than VB, might be the place to go now.

I used to be a regular on-off subscriber to VB for well over a decade, but nowadays I can't be bothered, a lot of my favorite old school stars have pretty much gone missing, and the new content seems all to be behind the next paywall.

VideosZ is pretty good, but I've had issues with their billing, and I'm reluctant to get back there again because of that.

I quit long ago because of the removal of titles from the site and putting up another paywall. A lot of the existing content seemed to be "watered" down as it was later available in lower quality so my perception of value for money dwindled over time.

Yeah, I still don't quite understand what happened to VIDEOBOX. Their big selling point was the amount of content in their catalogue. Some of it wasn't that great but they had lots of great stuff from older now gone studies. They were doing great then seem to hit a point where they started losing some of their content. It seems kinda strange to me because I know they had to pay to have that content but I don't understand what happened. Did they just run out of the money to renew the deals to keep that content? The majority of their library was old studios no longer around with little to no demand and pornstars long gone from the industry. How much could it have cost to keep that content? I also never understood why they never had the entire library of a studio. They'd a studio but only a partial list of that studio's content. And if you're going to lose or get rid of content why let so much of the good stuff go while you have tons of scenes no one has interest in you're keeping. The good stuff started disappearing at a rapid pace while they had a high rate of poor content coming in.

If VIDEOX where to get all that content back they used to have I'd re-subscribe even if they never did any updated material. But with what they have now to me isn't even work 5 bucks a month.

Videobox was one of the first sites I ever signed up for as they had a seemingly limitless amount of content. It was amazing all those years ago but, as others have said, they started to get a lot of repeat scenes in various compilations and introduced stuff you had to pay extra for. In the end, after many, many good years, I just drifted away from it. From the sound of it, I won't be going back.

Has videosz.com gone the same way or is that still a site with tons of content? I always saw that as a slightly lesser version of videobox.

Videobox was not a very good deal for most producers, so no wonder they did not renew their licences.

^I tend to agree with you that this is a good part of what happened but ultimately the main culprit is the same one that affected the porn industry as a whole and it is called tube and torrent sites. These entities first helped kill the studios that VB used to update it's library of content and as those studios died off then they needed to find new studios but most of those new studios are primarily online studios and offering a third party access to their content is not a good business idea since they would be offering the content a significantly cheaper cost than they do.

Another big problem is that the bulk of the content on VB is old (at least old in porn terms) so video quality is bound to be an issue and in the era of HD and 4KL then that difference is hard to overlook and may have soured many possible customers.

I think tube sites affect the porn biz greatly in general but I don't think it had that much to do with VIDEOBOX turning into what it did. What hurt VB the most is losing content. Much of the studio content they had was from older studios no longer putting out new content. You would think that whoever owns that studio's content they'd be more than happy to lease the right to someone and make some money from it instead of seeing it pirated. I'm guessing VB for whatever reason just didn't want to renew leases and lost a big bulk of content. Plus, the new (older) content they are getting for their daily updates isn't quality stuff. It's from C and D level studios for the most part. And when they do get some fairly good stuff for updates they post a movie from it everyday and annoy the members with the repetition. I'm guessing they had some sort of money problems and couldn't/wouldn't pay to keep their library intact and to update with higher quality stuff. Meanwhile all this just annoyed subscribers and they started leaving and that just compounded the money issues.
I don't think that was an issue for VB subscribers because they know what they were signing up for. I think the people who sign up for VB are people just looking for low cost porn. And not everyone cares about new HD content...or at least to the extent to most people here do. VB had a lot of quality porn. lots of junk but plenty of good stuff. Once you get past the idea that the movies they had aren't the newest stuff produced and just view and accept them as good movies/scenes I think you'll be fine. One of the things I liked most about VB was discovering girls I never seen before and finding a girl I never heard of before and I'm able instantly access multiple scenes she was in throughout her career. Then there was the amount of variety. As much as I
like what Dogfart, Brazzers, Blackedraw, etc., all those are niche sites that do a certain type of porn. No matter how good they are after awhile it can get old. VB just can so many types of porn you can just jump from genre to genre. All this and it was fairly cheap. For a lot of people that's a huge selling point.
