First up is one of the "perfect-hair" stars of the late 80's, Mike Henson (Henson was a popular nom de porn in the 80's). Mike was born in 1963 in California and began his career in 1986, doing most of his work for Catalina. He was very popular as a "boy-next-door" type who topped and bottomed in most of his scenes. Unfortunately, he had a drug problem, and except for a couple videos in the early 90's his career was pretty much over by 1988. He made many attempts to get his life clean, but, sadly, he died of a heroin overdose in 2002. He never blamed porn for his drug problem or his HIV+ status, but he did note that drugs were widely available on the porn sets of the 80's. He was very comfortable putting on a show for the gay crowd there (therefore, I suspect that he was a bit more than gay-for-pay). By the mid-80's he was gone from the scene, subject of many rumors about his death and/or marriage, etc. I'm not sure, but I think he was the guy I frequently saw pictured in the ad the Follies took out in The Washington Post in the early 1980's, so he must have been a club performer, too. His work for Higgins has yet to make it to DVD, but you can see him in the DVDs 5 New York Classics (his scene from Surf and Turf ) as well as Al Parker's Flashback. Bill Henson, real name Douglas Maxon, died of AIDS in 1995, he's buried at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside California. He was also a Ford model before he started in porn. He was in the movie with Brian Thompson, real name Curtis Norrup who also died of AIDS in 1986. It's widely believed that Thompson infected both Bill Henson and Cory Adams in the William Higgins movie Sailor in the Wild, or at the very least, Thompson re-infected them. Sailor in the Wild was made in 1983. So, at a minimum, Thompson was already HIV + by 1980. Anybody he had sex with, was infected. Thompson kept making movies even up until 1985, one year before his death, knowing he was sick. Brian Thompson's family was very religious. They did NOT accept what Brian did. As Brian got sicker, he went home, I think in California, to be with his family. I also read on the reliable Aids Quilt website, that there is a story of a Curt Norrup, who was sick and in the hospital, but the hospital refused to let him leave until he had a place to stay. A good man volunteered to take care of Curt Norrup, who was suicidal and had been abandoned by his gay lover. The volunteer said that he knew little about Curt's life and that they developed a good friendship on up till Curt died. Curt suffered seizures, chronic diarrhea, etc. I'm sure that as a veteran, Bill Henson was able to get the best of care in the VA, since he was a former marine drill sergeant so I understand. As for Cory Adams, I think I remember seeing a picture of him in a wheelchair, living all by himself in a tiny apartment, dying. He had KS. The year was 1987-1988, and it was in an article of Newsweek Magazine, I think august 10, 1987 issue. Newsweek did about 10-15 cover story's on Aids, but that issue went in depth on some who were in the process of dying. I think Cory's real name may have been Joshua, John or Adam Cornelius. Not sure. But I think he was in Minnesota. Do not believe the hype that Cory went to Colorado, got married and is a successful real estate agent, or the other story that he's a DJ in San Francisco. This is crap. According to CDC testing, blood samples taken by many porn actors and sexually active gay men from 1982-1985, showed that by 1985, a whopping 75% of those samples tested HIV +. That means, by1985, anybody who was going to get infected, already was. This includes Troy Meyers, better known as Jeremy Scott 1961-1994. He lived not far from me, worked at a bank in the trust department of Bank One, until he could no longer do so. His friend took care of him until the end, James Larsen Jr--bless him. Douglas Murrel Cooper 1958-1992, lived just up town from me in Dayton Ohio. He was known as Tim Kramer. He's buried in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in West Virginia. He operated a small solar light company and vitamin health shop before he died of Aids. [Link] |
