Whilst that is that persons opinion of which they are completely entitled to, I think it's very much up for debate. I don't think Mason comes close to touching Viv when it comes to G/G. Everything about Viv's movies, the locations, the sets, the girls (mainly G/G only), the storylines, scream care, attention to detail and passion from someone who genuinely loves doing G/G. I don't see that with Mason's G/G work. There's no doubt Mason is a talented director, but I think her talents lie with B/G rather than G/G because she simply doesn't do enough of it. One G/G feature in the best part of a year and a half doesn't say the same to me as Viv's movies do, it seems more like a contractual obligation to me. IMO Viv Thomas is the best and always will be the best at G/G. I would love to hear the opinions of other G/G fans and porn fans in general on this subject as I think there will be a fair few contrasting opinions on this. Thanks. [Link]

Sadly it's been a long time since Mason's last g/g movie and obviously she hasn't made a lot of it over the years either. I wish Mason would make more g/g flicks tho. [Link]

Starting back with the Pink Velvet series the man captured my attention and hasn't really lost it since though I have gone through times when I don't see his work as much. Mason with the Club 59 material showed a great promise in shooting similar style g/g with mostly US talent as I recall. I definitely want to see more and I am sure she will work a title or two in coming up, at least we can hope so. I've seen in her work the basics of what I want in a g/g scene with the emphasis on kissing and oral plus a dabbling in ass licking-- all trademark Viv Thomas so Mason if you check this out please don't forget you've got a segment of fans who really enjoyed the Club 59 shows and hope to see more in the future. There have been some beautiful moments captured for Erotica X recently, but, I haven't had much time to devote to more consistent GG shoots. I really, really, miss it and hope a more flexible shooting schedule will afford me that luxury. [Link]

It's still got all those hallmarks of his excellent work in the past (casts, location, good-natured atmosphere that is reflected in the attitude of the girls during sex). What it hasn't got any more is that groundbreaking edge that the great movies between 2003 and 2010 had. I hear that the man has had health problems which may explain some of this, and which may also be behind his recent retirement and sale of the brand to Met-Art. For those who are not aware of it, his longstanding creative team who shot with him all those great movies of the previous decade left in 2010 to set up their own sites. The lesbian one is called Lesbea. It is very, very good, as you'd expect from people with such pedigree, although in my opinion they have never quite recaptured the same magic they had when working with Viv. The scenes are a bit samey. These days there is plenty of good g-g around; it's perhaps not as brilliant as Viv's best 6-7 years ago, but there's more and in many different brands. I personally got great enjoyment out of We Live Together when around the summer of 2012 it was transformed from excessively porny group scenes to more conventional couples ones. A lot of the success of course had to do with the fact that they had secured the exclusive services of the best lez model since Sandy and Felecia, Malena Morgan. With Malena's retirement my interest on the site has waned a bit. It's always been very formulaic, and this formula can get boring quickly if there's not a woman of exceptional beauty and/or technique like Malena to carry it. I have very little time for the likes of Girlfriends films and their ilk these days. Their production values are way too low for my liking, and there's also too much of the boring faux-incest Mommy fetish in them. I think that they keep their models comparatively dowdy and their locations bland and almost Soviet-looking on purpose: it's not just economical but it also helps them pretend that the sex is more "real". Not all of these studios are like that of course: I did like Nica Noelle's "Gia", which she shot for Girl Candy films, and I liked it quite a lot - although it may have been mostly due to my fascination with Raven Rockette, her boobs and that gorgeous natural bush. I really enjoyed the first few Club 59 videos. I thought Girl Crush 2 one of the best lez movies in years. But they also all got a bit samey after a point and I lost interest. Imp. [Link]

That explains why I have 37 of Viv's titles on DVD, and 1 on Blu-ray. Mason, however, with the DVD production simply titled "Dani", demonstrated that she was capable (at least on occasion) of scaling the same erotic heights with girl/girl scenes, that Viv achieved, although Viv created quality g/g on a much more regular basis. But, if any of my fellow g/g fans has not seen Mason's Club 59 production "Dani", do yourself a favor and give it a look. I consider it to be among the top few in a pretty extensive g/g collection. 2 scenes on the "Dani" disc are definitely in my reliable "go to" category. The 1st one is the opening scene where Dani Daniels, as a call girl, arrives at a room in a fancy hotel. Once there, Dani encounters Georgia Jones, who looks absolutely stunning lying on her side, atop a bed, wearing some pretty black panties. Just that opening of this beautifully shot scene is already mouth watering, not to mention dick stiffening. Mason's shooting of that scene helped make Georgia look more beautiful than I've ever seen her. And Dani, of course, also looks great. These 2 ladies do everything I could want in a scene. There's sensual french kissing, fingering, as well as nice tongue in the asshole action. Toy fans will be disappointed, but I've never grasped what it is that's supposed to be erotic about watching women shoving plastic or glass into each other. If you want to see a penis like object penetrating a woman, why wouldn't you instead, watch a b/g scene where,at least, you'd see the real thing? Mason manages another outstanding scene in "Dani", where Ms Daniels is matched with Veronica Avluv. The viewer can tell that the 2 women have an extremely good comfort level with each other, in what unfolds as one very tasty scene. It's late, so I won't bore you guys with more details, but suffice it to say that it's a real keeper, too. Mason's secret for success (or one of them) in my opinion, is her knack for making her performers feel comfortable and relaxed, so they feel free to really let themselves go. Mason, let me echo the other ADT members who hope you'll return to shooting some all women features. If you wanted to, I'd bet that, in time,you could convince ardent Viv Thomas fans that you deserve to inherit the crown that Viv seems to have put aside. [Link]

What set him apart from the others is mentioned above - the girls, sets, lighting and the fact that he was never afraid to mix in some anal play (not just licking) - the latter being missing from just about every other studio I know outside of Perfect Gonzo. But now, the VT studio has diminished in quality: the girls are still mouth watering but the directors and especially the camera work have let standards drop. I don't think there is a stand out studio/director anymore, not for the stuff I like anyway. Greg Lansky's WLT work came close to the vintage VT years and I have yet to watch his scene with Lana/Adriana. There is a big gap in the market and I can only hope that someone steps into it soon.
