I recently saw "Emelie" in Seattle and it is one of the best made films I have seen and one of my favorites now. By the same man that directed "Delicatessen".

Another great mainstream film I saw was "With a Friend Like Harry" with Sergie Lopez.

I do not doubt that hollywood will be trying to buy the rights to these sometime and make worthless remakes, like "Le Femme Nikita" (one of my favorite movies of all time) and the thin USA remake with Brigitte Fonda.

Maybe to you who lives in the Cinema capitol of the world the movie (Friend like Harry) was OK, but I am tired and do not watch hollywood movies anymore, same formula's, stories etc. I read in a French travel book that Paris has more movie debuts every week than any other city in the world! You are centraly located in Europe too, you get Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland movies coming through your borders plus many other due to the diversity of the inhabitants there; Parisians are very lucky in this respect!

To me Harry was a lot better than the typical hollywood movie! The part where Harry kills his wife (or girlfriend) and gets his old friend to help him with the body and then tries to convince him to kill his whole family and he just stares off into space, I thought that he might just do it! Hollywood cannot create that type of suspense as much anymore (Hitchcock was good though) these days.

I have both a worldwide vcr that plays/records/converts secam, pal, ntsc and a SAMPO DVE-611 DVD/pal/ntsc/MP3/VCD player.

I would really like to trade with you, I can provide referrences of others or even send you a couple of tapes first to show my good will. Let me know please, Viva La Francia!

About the Foreign Legion, yes, they are still active and I was surprised they didn't send them to Afghanistan since they are probably the best French soldiers we have.

On the subject of French DVDs, I'm trying to find more information about the Colmax release of Pretty Peaches. It's one of Alex de Renzy's best ever porn films and a personal favourite of mine.

Since VCA have disowned the movie, there's little or no prospect of a US DVD appearing and I was wondering if the Colmax disc is uncut. Do you know if the infamous enema scene is included?

Several websites also list an English audio option, but the one I linked to above says French only. I'd like to know which is correct.

If you are talking about the version with Desiree Cousteau, you do have the infamous enema scene. I remember watching the DVD for the first time a few months ago. I think it was also the first appearance of Juliet Anderson. The movie was hot but infortunately only dubbed in French. Colmax is releasing its old catalogue of US classics on DVD like baby face or pretty peaches on DVD.

If you are looking for feature films, I have none of them. I found them pretty boring especially the Marc Dorcel which I think are pretty overrated. I can tape you a few from cable TV if u want. The expoitaton movies sound good since they hard to find here but I heard that the transfer from NTSC to Secam is disastrous.
Speaking of genre movies, this year champion is "Brotherhood of the wolf" which is due to be released bu Universal on Jan 2002. I just bought it on DVD and it's one of my favorites this year.

Never heard of "Airbag" or maybe not under this title ?
Genre movies similar to Dobermann ? There's this one called "Total western" which was a total commercial failure here but enjoyed it a lot. Think of those 70's Charles Bronson type of movies but set in our days in the South of France. Very violent movies with funny moments. Definitely not the Hollywood PG 13 action blockbusters you can see on summer.

Tcheky Karyo has made countless of movies on both sides of the Atlantic but some where he played a psycho ? The only one I can remember lately is "Kiss of the Dragon" but it was a big letdown for me as I had big expectations with this flick. I heard he has a part on the "Blade" sequel with Wesley Snipes.
