A lot of people around here shun Vivid, but they miss out on some good stuff, especially from earlier years. I've been thinking about checking out some of the comps too, but with the women I'm interested in (mmmm, Nikki) there are so many it's hard to choose, and I end up not getting around to it. But there really is a lot of classic material for them to work with.

The scenes in this comp title have most of the acting edited out, perhaps you might see 1-2 minutes of it at the beginning of a scene. That's fine with me, since I don't care for acting in porn films, anyway. One thing the scenes show is how much more talented Rocco is compared to the usual guys that populate Vivid films. There's a scene with Rocco, Ashlyn Gere and a guy named Colt Steele, where Colt has his way with Ashlyn first. This Colt guy moves in a medium-slow fashion the entire time, and barely varies his positions. Then it's Rocco's turn - he pulls the woman close to him forcefully and has at her, and she's screaming with delight. In the next 5 minutes, he's going through a plethora of positions, so fast it's almost dizzying.

I haven't watched any of the earliest stuff that Rocco did with Stagliano, perhaps I should. I have seen 'Buttman in Budapest' and 'Buda', and he was fine in those, though not too different from his own films, since there's a lot of group sex/anal sex in them. I've also seen one Italian feature Rocco did (The Marquis de Sade) - silly costumes, bad acting, and group sex/anal sex in nearly every scene. I've also watched Rocco's 'The Bodyguard', and it was the same story - bad acting, group sex/anal sex, and what's more, Rocco being callous towards his female partners, with the exception of the scene he does with his wife.

This whole thing make me want to ask the question - will the real Rocco please stand up? It's hard to believe that this is the same guy that will plunge a woman's head into the toilet while he's analing her.

P.S. There is one scene in the comp, that was somewhat Mason-esque. It from a movie called Reckless Passion, where Rocco is paired with a woman named Melissa Hill. Behind the camera there is a woman's voice, with a somewhat hostile tone, that now and then says to Rocco, "Fuck her hard. Harder. Yeah, see she likes it."

Rocco wears a condom in about a third of the scenes. He manages quite well, I might add. I didn't mind in the least. The only strange thing was that in the beginning of some scenes, he's not wearing one, then out of the blue, he's got one on.

Zoid, one of these scenes was shot in 1990, which would have made Rocco about 26 years old, and he looks it, not at all the confident man he is in his later films. He has to say the line about a female bodyguard, "But boss, she can't guard you if she fuck you." He sounds like a kid in a high school play. He and the boss proceed to do a DP on the woman, the only one in the comp tape.

Yeah, Dumblonde, I was suprised to see a comp tape centered around a male star. But he's well-known enough, and he's been releasing comp DVD's from his own films (Rocco's Best ButtFucks, etc.), so maybe Vivid figured they'd get in on the money train, too.

That first DVD from Italy, The Best of Rocco, looks like it hasn't been released in the US. Maybe someday. They do ship to the US, but my DVD player doesn't play PAL format.

I did a quick look around some US online retailers, and it turns out, there are a couple more comp titles centered around Rocco. There are one or two more from Vivid and Wicked. There's also one of the scenes he did in France for Marc Dorcel, called "Rocco's Cravings".

But the best one I found was this classic from Anabolic Studies:

One might call it a companion piece to that lovable series, "A Cum-Sucking Whore Named Starlet X".
