Last I knew, many that were never released on DVD Steven had no interest in releasing. I asked a while back. I keep hoping that will change.

I have a bunch of old Vivid tapes from the VHS days -- glad I held onto them now, seeing as they don't plan on putting everything out.

^I'd have to dig them out to figure out which ones I have -- there's a good number of them.
eBay has an adult section, and it might be possible to find some old Vivid titles there...but, otherwise--at this point--I wouldn't know...I've had mine since they were new.
(The advantage of never throwing anything away...)

Also, depending on how old you're talking about, a huge number of Vivid titles are available for download at Videobox.com for a monthly add-on of $9.99 / month...They're all download-to-own...but this might not be as old as you're looking for.
You should be able to browse which titles are on their site prior to joining.

Same here!
Have you folks also noticed when Vivid began converting some movies from VHS to DVD, they had left out scenes during the transfer? For instance, the "Sex" film featuring Nikki Dial was one movie rather than 2. They left out a few scenes.

^I noticed Vivid did that with some of their VHS tapes.
For example the Masseuse 2 there was a scene where Ashlyn Gere puts on a strap on and performs with Bi Sexual Australian porn stud Karl Radford the was all but cut from my VHS.
Then again there was a time when they were really cracking down in porn it was felt that if someone such Russ Hampshire then owner of VCA Pictures could go to jail anyone could.
At one time I do believe the famous scene in the Opening Of Misty Beethoven between Constance Money with a strap on and Ras Kean with assistance of gay porn stud Casey Donovan had been removed from that tape.

They did this with many back in the VHS day, to fit more adverts on the VHS and never went back to the originals when the made the DVDs. Bonnie & Clyde was one of the casualties of this.

Vivid's entire "Wave" line seems to have gone by the wayside. They are some of the first adult movies I ever seen and loveee them.
Sure I guess I could download them on some sites but I'm a collector and like to possess things. But then that causes other problems like storage. I have about 200 VHS tapes from back in the day, feature films and a few comps.
I should have my housekeeper pull hose out and make a list of exactly what I have.
I don't even own a VCR anymore. LOL

Some comments on Vivid, as I would consider myself a "fan" of their older videos...
a lot of them aren't on DVD. Best bet then is to find VHS versions (yeah, it sucks, I know) on Ebay. I have picked up most of the old Vivid flicks I was looking for this way. It seems that many "Mom and Pop" and adult VHS rental outlets alike were dumping their VHS inventories en masse a few years ago, but it still continues somewhat even today. A lot of the tapes I have are obvious prior rentals, but "used" is pretty much all you can get these days.
There was a time (I would guestimate about 1995 or 1996) that Vivid began editing re-issues of a lot (all?) of their older features and cutting the running times down to 70 minutes. This was achieved by editing out foreplay, stripping, dialog, shortening sex scenes, and even deleting entire scenes. I called Vivid a couple times in 1998-1999 to complain about edited tapes and I was told they were doing this to save money on tape.
More specifically, I know that Masseuse 2 was one of the casualties, as this was one tape I called them to complain about. The strap-on scene was deleted, as was most of the foreplay in the Asia Carrera/Steven St. Croix scene, and a lot of dialog between Asia Carrera and Tony Tedeschi where Asia works up the courage to blow him. I was lucky enough to find the original release of Masseuse 2 and it ran 100 minutes (according to my notes) while the re-release version was only 71-72 minutes.
Vivid also had a habit of editing their DVD releases to fit more extra features such as multiple angles, trailers, bios and so forth. Many times these DVD versions were edited differently than their VHS counterparts. The most egregious example is the film "House of Sleeping Beauties 3". The DVD version has a scene with Angelica Sinn and Rich Handsome that is missing from the VHS (even the original release). However, the DVD is missing a couple scenes that are included in the VHS. In the end, neither version is "complete".

^I have to say that it is very uncool to have edited these down like this so that the original works aren't what they were intended to be.
(I wonder how many of my old ones are the edited-down versions...I was buying them heavily from 1994 - 1998...)

You'd think Vivid would want to cash in on the dvd market by releasing that stuff. However if they're going to be editing out scenes and what not from the original copy or print then what's the point?
