At any rate, I've heard from a reliable source that Vivid has decided to stop editing down movies for DVD due to complaints from customers. That doesn't help what's already been released, but at least it's a start...
The multiple angle on-screen icons are another thing that people bitch about. My take on the subject is 1.) it distracts you from the "fantasy" that you're watching, and 2.) just about every home DVD player has an alternate angle LED on the front face. I think that the studios fear that people will somehow "miss" the alternate angles and therefore the expense will be wasted. Vivid's logo is extremely distracting... VCA's is at least watermarked so that it's not in your face. Still, it would be nice to be able to toggle that indicator, perhaps by using the same technique that was used on the Ghostbusters mainstream disc for the visual commentary: use the captioning track to show an image rather than just text. But of course, that would be expensive, and it's a whole lot cheaper just to superimpose a static graphic on the footage.
I don't know about Elegant Angel and the audio synch problem. Obviously, it's the biggest complaint that people have about that studio, and if they want to continue to play in the DVD arena, they have to get it fixed ASAP.
