| Bette Member Queen C 12 Posts 5/08 | I've been a WL member for a few years now, signed up for 3 dvds at a time. They have now begun the practice of throttling. (Most often a term used when discussing Netflix's unethical account handling of holding back dvds. ie, you signed up for 3 at a time, but they send you 1 and then you get nothing for days, even though plenty is available in your queue, AND THEY STILL CHARGE YOU AT THE 3 AT A TIME RATE.) I have contacted the BBB Online and made an official report, which WL has ignored. I am now filing a complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection. Apparently I'm not nearly the only one, as BBB Online has rated them an F. Topic Moved by - heynow on May 21 2008 [Link] |

Here is their assessement of the company: Our complaint history for this company shows that the company responded to and gave proper consideration to most complaints. However, some complaints are unresolved meaning the company failed to properly address the complaint allegations or their response was inadequate. And this is their breakdown: 3 Making a full refund, as the consumer requested 4 Making a partial refund 19 Agreeing to perform according to their contract 2 Refusing to make an adjustment 8 Refuse to adjust, relying on terms of agreement 5 Unanswered 0 Unassigned 41 Total |
| Bette Member Queen C 12 Posts 5/08 | They're basically just going to get away with it. I have no choice but to cancel my acocunt, since they have only sent me one dvd this past week, and I'd have to be an idiot to pay $23/month for 4 dvd rentals. My emails to customer service continue to be ignored.... I guess, just let this be a warning to others. |

| Bette Member Queen C 12 Posts 5/08 | In the absence of any response from the company this complaint despite our two requests to them, we are closing our file on this complaint. This unanswered complaint will become part of the information we report to the public on this company for the next three years. Should any government agency request our files on this company, your complaint will also be included. Again, I hope others will take note and do business with a different company. Check the BBB Online first, for company reports, before you sign up. I'd also like to point out that this throttling-as-accepted-behavior is just plain bad for the porn industry in general. My attitude at this point is, OH WELL, I GUESS WANTEDLIST DID ME A FAVOR. DO I REALLY NEED PORN IN MY LIFE? Buh-bye to porn, for me. Additionally, I recall when Netflix throttled me, I cancelled my account after struggling with them and they weren't nearly as OBNOXIOUS as WantedList is being. Well, look at Netflix now. They have plenty of competition, their membership has gone down, and they keep sending me (and everyone else I know who cancelled their accounts) emails and US Mail begging us to come back. WantedList is not the only game in town, I could use other companies who perform the exact same service, but like I said...do I really NEED porn in my life??? No. |
| WantedList New Member Van Nuys, CA 1 Posts 6/04 | My name is Anh and I am one of the owners of WantedList. I'm sorry to hear that you've been so frustrated with our service that you had to take the matter up to the BBB. There's a lot of things that you said in your posts and I'd like to take a little bit of time to answer as much as I can here and then answer more offline through private emails. 1. We have NEVER implemented the practice of throttling. Ethically, its a terrible practice because it goes against what we're selling to our customers. Economically, it doesn't make sense for a company of our size because it requires a lot of modifications to the shipping process. It may work for Netflix because of their economies of scale but I assure you it doesn't work for any of the adult dvd rental businesses out there. 2. Yes we've got a bad rating on the BBB and that's because as an adult company you can only get complaints and not praises. It's a very unfair one way street. We've tried to answer every single one of those complaints the best we can. I am surprised that you got a response back from the BBB so quickly because companies are allowed up to 30 days to respond to a complaint usually. 3. Bette, we appreciate your business over the past year as you described it and we're sorry it came to you have to voicing your griefs online in order for something to happen. Do me a favor and send me an email to my personal email address at anh@wantedlist.com subject: Bette - ADT issue and I'll look into the issue myself. There are 3 ways you can reach customer support with our company. - We've got a customer department with a toll free line that you can call M-F 9:30am - 5:30pm PST at 866-926-8339 - Live chat support which is available at the same time above. - Email support. From time to time we've ran into issues of customers getting support responses get dropped into your spam box, but I assure you we make it a policy to answer each and every single email within 24 hours. We actually have pOT protocol put in place to ensure this. Hope this helps. Sincerely, Anh WantedList.com |

Use the BBB 1st, then use AG. I don't know anything about Wanted list, but I can tell you that most of the adult rental houses are sloppy to say the least and my guess is they bank on the fact you won't go public with your complaint due to the nature of the business, but I say if Net Flix and B Buster can turn around titles in 24, adult services can damn sure do in in 48. Don't tell me that throttling is a bad business practice, show me your service is superior enough that peope don't have to complain in a public forum or file formal complaints with state and federal agencies. |
