As for removing updates, aren't they listed in Add/Remove Programs? (I'm on W2K and they are in this version).

Anyways to get rid of the last update? Or at least optimize performance? They extra few seconds every time I hit a link is driving me nuts. Or could it be Spybot? I have been thinking of finding a combined virus/spywear protection. Might that be faster? [Link] |

And a format and reinstall, well that's the most destructive obviously, but it's the best way to get your speed back. once I format and reinstall I update Windows to the fullest. When was your last format and reinstall? Like I have said in other threads, F&Rs don't happen nearly as often as they should. Dell, HP and all those other companies gave you restoration CDs for a reason. And not JUST for a crash or hardware (HDD) failure... "What? The land of the free? Also, having only Spybot to defend against spyware and malware isn't going to get it done. These days, you should have at least two different spyware scanners. What one doesn't pick up, the other one will. Download [invalid URL removed]Ad-Aware Download Webroot Spysweeper Run them both weekly and keep your definitions updated. |

This gets rid of all kinds of temporary shit. 4) update your virus definitions and run a full virus scan you could be infected 5) disable resident protection in spybot. 6) update spybot 7) use spybot's advanced tools to see what Active X, BHOs (Browser Helper Objects), running Processes and applications starting at System Startup. Depending on what you see you may want to go into control panel and uninstall some shit. 8) run a spyware scan using Spybot 9) run a spyware scan using Microsoft's Antispyware If it's still slow I'd suggest: If you have a restore CD then use it and continue at step 5, otherwise: 5) Run Windows Update a 1,000 times until complete. As a bonus:

If you have Officials, you must remove them before. My english sucks?:) I think Ewido is very good spyware killer, http://www.ewido.net/en/ * * I did install it without Realtime protection, because Realtime protection expires after 14days, if you don't buy it.
