This is by far the most baffling ordeal that I have ever encountered on the internet. Any help in resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated.
I'm a member of BushDVD and for the past few days I have not been able to access the site at all. The strange thing is, every other website works! At first I thought Bush was having some technical difficulties, but this problem has persisted for the past three days now, plus others that I've chatted with have been able to get on it with no problem.
Any conspiracy theories that I had brewing are moot because they have been emailing me and letting me know that they are shipping my next movies. But not being able to access the site really sucks for obvious reasons.
I've cleared my browsing history, deleted all cookies, deleted temp files and even tried using Opera to see if that would help. Nada.
Why the heck does every website work except for BushDVD? Makes no sense at all to me.
EDITED TO ADD- The message i'm getting is "The connection has timed out."
Reset your router and see what happens. I had this happen with a site once, for no explanation, and that seemed to fix it. Another time, the same thing occured and resetting the router didn't fix it, but updating my firmware did.
I'm using Zone Alarm as a firewall and I've tried tweaking the settings to no avail.
This really is extremely puzzling... every site works normally except for Bush. There is absolutely no reason for this and it is quite apparent that this may have no resolution.
I may have to cancel my Bush account because of this. I've really enjoyed the service, I can't understand why this would happen. It's a shame if I have to cancel under these circumstances but enough is enough.
A) Try temporarily shutting down zonealarm, closing your browser, clearing your internet cache, then try going back to www.bushdvd.com and see if that works.
B) to ping in windows xp: 1) select run from the start menu 2) type cmd and press enter 3) type ping www.bushdvd.com
C) any kind of content protection turned on trying to block adult sites?
D) Windows Firewall is confirmed turned off?
E) Pop Up Blocker?
F) What programs are running? Perhaps one of them are causing the mystery?
This would be a good time to use RealVNC to connect to your PC to see the problem with my own eyes.
On another board I visit somebody complained that the last automatic update of ZoneAlarm screwed up a lot of things. He suggested either get rid of ZoneAlarm (which was what he did and proved to be a nightmare btw), or don't use any version over v5 and disable the auto update feature.
I pinged BushDVD like you guys suggested and ended up with four "Timed Out" responses. 4 packets sent, all of them lost.
I even uninstalled Zone Alarm, cleared my cache and rebooted. Nothing.
I don't have any unusual programs running in the background, just my anti-virus and my browser. Windows firewall is turned off. I can access the rest of the web just fine but BushDVD won't even load.
This is beyond frustrating. I'm all out of ideas but thanks for the feedback so far guys. I really want to get to the bottom of this but nothing makes sense.
Looks like the saga has finally come to an end. For some inexplicable reason, I am now able to access BushDVD after days of unnecessary contravention.
Thank you to everyone who made an effort to help me extract a solution. Let's just hope that this doesn't happen again. It still remains one of the most unusual obstructions of porn rental rights in internet history.
Gurl - glad you got that sorted. Can I sneak in a little question that may or may not be related - Over the last few days using the latest version of Firefox on my swanky new Mac, I can get Mr Comstock's site up -- comstockfilms.com but can't open his blog page -- all other pages open as usual. It works fine in Safari and on my PC I can open the page in Firefox. Any clues gratefully received - ta. Should I try the router reset?
On my PC it doesn't work too, it's possible that this site has some formatting errors. Intelligent browsers are able to display pages with errors, but some are not.
The fun thing is, when I open the url http://www.comstockfilms.com/blog/ and download the html page with right-click-save and open it from the harddisk it works..

I have never been able to look at TonyC's blog thru Firefox either. IE works fine, just not the cunning Fox. Bermuda Triangle perhaps, or maybe a furry triangle?
