Kinky porn was pushed back by the anti-porn crusades under the bush administration and what we're now seeing compared to 20 years ago with all the step-relative crap is just mainstream porn shyly trying to go back to having kinky "stories" that can add to a scene's erotic value rather than just being there as a comical remnant from the days you needed a filler pizza delivery plot to pretend your product had "serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value" to avoid the obscenity boogeyman.

If you check the history of the kind of porn where that kind of moral repression/censorship didn't happen (hentai- where any kind of story with any kind of protagonists goes no matter how sick or twisted) you'll see no change in what is demanded/consumed over the past decades.

I'm sure the big porn conglomerates have access to gigantic amounts information on consumer preferences acquired from their free streaming sites to know exactly what the market wants, but they are limited by and very vulnerable to political censorship.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the term "MILF" came out of that movie American Pie, which was late 90's maybe? And I think you can look back at the movie The Graduate (1967) as a sort of a milestone in the broader popularization of older woman/younger man.

I'm betting the producers and performers were probably triple checking his ID. He really brought out the MILFiness in chicks like Kay Parker, Honey Wilder, Sharon Mitchell as he easily looked 20+ years younger than them.

That's not to say that he didn't have scenes at the time where he looked older if he foolishly let his facial hair grow, but that's not unique to him/that period, today's youngest-looking male performers that are used in older women/younger male scenes like Juan El Caballo Loco or Tyler Nixon also make those sort of mistakes by making themselves look older with facial hair or getting tattoos.

To answer the OP: older woman/younger male was certainly a thing in the 80s, just like older male/younger woman and family play, that demand hasn't changed over time and I don't think it will (as long as families exist there will be demand for family play porn, just like as long as significant racism exists there will be demand for race play porn). As far as recommendations for milf porn from the 80s go off the top of my head I'd suggest the "Taboo" series and "Private Teacher" to start with. Make sure it's the restored/remastered versions.
