Looking specifically for the condoms that feel the best for both partners.

Wife and I hardly have vaginal sex due to risk of pregnancy, and condoms just don't seem to cut it when it comes to sensation.

Has anyone tried the InSpiral brand?

Thx

It's one of those things where you need to try several types and styles to determine what works best for you and your mate.

Go to your local condom store (yes they do exist). The selection of different kinds is awesome. Kind of blow your mind the first time you go in.

What about a vasectomy? I saw one on the learning channel once, it didn't look like it hurt too much. Just a quick snip, and it's over!

-lunacy-, we have considered the Pill, but I don't like
taking hormones (seems to make me gain weight)

and

joeblow69, we might still want to have one more child, but when I do, I will for sure get my tubes tied.

Heaven - I know how you feel. I went off the pill for a few years. The pills I used to take (from age 18-25) didn't make me gain weight, but did make me retain water. Plus they contributed to depression.

I recently went back on the pill and it's a whole new world. The dosage is so low on new pills. As doctors, especially HMO doctors, tend to recommend pills on their plan, it's best to do the research yourself. There are a ton of websites about the different pills, with data on the exact amounts of hormones in each brand.

I think it's the progestin that causes the weight gain. There are new types of progestin. I'm currently taking Alesse. Here's a chart of pill brands.

As far as condoms go - any of the ultra-sensitive types. Sometimes I wonder if it's the actual rubber causing the feeling of less sensation, or the fear that it's going to break distracting from the sex.

StephDunn, thanks for the list of all those pills. How is it taking the Alesse? There is also a very new one out, it's called Yasmin.
It affects the excess sodium and water in your body, which is supposed to help with the water retention.

Heaven - so far so good (month two for me.) no bloat. no depression. no headaches. minimal period. yasmin looks promising, but for now i'm not changing anything.

If you are worried about pregancy and condons, then you use condons and vaginal foam. I think that combination increases the effectness quite a bit. A diaphram might be an option too.

i used to take alesse and my friend, who's a physician's assistant, highly recommended it bc of the low dosage. it's also useful because it's one of the birth control pills that you can use as a morning after pill (not all work that way--you need progestin pills, i think). so if you stock up on alesse it saves you a trip to the doctor and pharmacy if an emergency ever arises.

the pill has really improved since the first time i took it in the early '90s. i used to get very moody and upset when taking some variation of "ortho". it was indescribably horrible each time i tried, and i would always get off within three to six months. ironically enough i think getting on the pill often led to the, um, termination of the reason i got on the pill!

now i take orthotricyclen and it's fine more or less (it's been about a year on that; and alesse previously for a combination of about two years). there is weight gain, etc., but my primary concern is w/ emotional/mood problems.

in terms of condoms, i only buy lifestyles these days. ultrasensitive if possible.

lone palm - why did you switch from alesse to ortho?

heaven / horny - have you guys tried vaginal foam? it comes in little bullet-shaped inserts. if there's no allergic reaction it might feel better than condoms.

StephDunn - I am allergic to those inserts, I've tried them before, it burns when I put them inside. I think we might try some ultra thin condoms, and I'm thinking about the Pill.
