You could track the top lists from all the major retailers, chart what product they have on sale and feature on their homepage, and probably figure out something reasonable from there. That would give you some relative data. Accurate market data does not exist.
I checked out AVN.com to find the sales/rentals charts. They put them in order which lets you know what people are watching, but it doesn't give even a hint of how many copies are being sold. I'd really like to know this info as well.
There's a lot of talk about adult being a multi-billion dollar business, but it seems that with the glut of material out there, individual titles, regardless of the studio, director or star, don't sell in MAJOR numbers. I remember seeing Deep Throat had a blurb on the cover saying it was a "million seller", but it's 30 years old and it's been available to the home video market for over 20 years. It was one of the first titles available! I'd like to know the actual number of copies the average Evil Angel title sells. Or Vivid or Wicked or Elegant Angel, etc.
I was told by someone who has been in the business a long time that selling 2,000 copies is good. Also, he said that it costs 55 cents to duplicate a film.
We still get full price for M&J, and it's been on the market for three years, and available on DVD for more than two years. We've had customers ask for discounts based on the quantity they're buying, but never on the basis of how long the title has been available. Let hope they don't start now, I just paid for a run of another 5,000 pieces!

I think it depends on the title and which performers are in the film. For example, 'Flashpoint' has been out for seven years and sells for almost $22 at AdultDVDempire. In comparison, there are new releases that sell for basically the same price. Come to think of it, a big part of Jenna's bargaining power with distributors probably comes from the fact that even years after her movies are released, they can still be sold for over $20, because there is still a demand for them.
It varies from studio to studio. The studios that start high (eg Anabolic, Evil) stay high for longer than studios that start low (ie Channel 69).
Tony's product is one of those "special" cases. Product that has a specialized reputation never goes down. Like Tony's stuff, or Nina's sex guides, or ZFX bondage, or GGG, or those "made by women for women" lesbian features like Sugar High, Glitter City.
Evil Angel and Falcon are probably the biggest studios that keep all their titles priced high ($16-$36 per DVD for the retailer) forever. Even Vivid and Wicked seem to reprice quicker (except for the Jenna and Tera titles, of course). Most A-level titles (Evil, Elegant, Ana/Dia, etc) start off at $16-36 cost for the retailer. Eventually the studios/distributors reprice down to $10 or under. Some studios keep their catalog prices at this price forever (Ana, Zero, Platinum). But most studios eventually drop their prices so low that most retailers can pick up a box of a studio's catalog for less than $5 per DVD. For most titles, this drop to the lowest wholesale price occurs within 6 months of its initial release.
