I thought it was really interesting. Rocco comes off very philosophical and existential with regards to his life and porn. Netflix showed some pretty hardcore stuff in the last 10 minutes too! His brother seems like a piece of work though.

I haven't decided if I want to watch it but I'm leaning towards no. It's been my experience that the less I know about the personal life of my entertainers. The better I enjoy their work. I don't only use this for porn but for mainstream media as well.
Ultimately the kind of relationhsip I have with Rocco is that he make porn that I masturbate to. The reason why he does what he does or his childhood and life aren't going to make my enjoyment of his work any better and could significantly make it less.
I can name plenty of actors and actresses whose work I have a harder time enjoying (if at all) because I now know stuff about them that affects my enjoyment.

It's mostly on porn sets , especially off sets his personal life isn't overwhelminghly present .
I don't know about foreign versions , it's a French movie , but he speaks very often in italian and English alike , the guy mistakenly taken as his brother actually says he's his cugino ( his cousin ) I always thought Mike Angelo to be Italian, but it's not both Rocco and Cousin talk to each other in Italian but they have to talk with him in French even when they are all together off screen.
EDIt I didn't watch it entirely though , there's a good third of the documentary that I will watch later

Watched this last night. Thought it was excellent. You can tell the crew are French are they don't shoot, edit or score it like a conventional American doc.
I found it quite moving and thought Rocco really exposes himself honestly in the film. When he talks about the death of his brother and later his mother and his sexual encounter with a friend of his mother it was stunning. Odd that they don't mention his wife is a former porn performer, an important detail. The scene with his two sons is both sad and funny.
It was great to see Kelly Stafford and the relationship with his cousin is very interesting and obviously conflicted. The scene of him talking with Abella Danger and Veruca James post-sex-scene was oddly tender as well.
By the end with the final at Kink it ended on a rather comic note that contrasts with the beginning. Overall one of the more remarkable porn documentaries I've seen. It is on Canadian Netflix.

It's worth noting one of his sons said he had seen Tarzan , both his parents performed in there, with multiple scenes

I'm not surprised because she hasn't done porn in 20 years and I get the sense from the various things I have read that Rosa and Rocco made a decision long ago that she and their children were part of his private life and would never be part of his porn life.

That is covered in the film but I mean that her porn past is an important detail for the audience that would help explain why she can accept his porn career.

^Let's me be clear. I agree with you that she did porn. I should know because I remember seeing them but her entire porn career equals to a little more than a dozen scenes that were filmed over a period of about 3 years 20 plus yeas ago and she only had sex with one man. That man is Rocco and he became her husband.
It wouldn't surprise me that the producers wanted to have Rosa in the documentary but I think Rosa realised long ago that Rocco was going to keep on doing porn long after they were married and she was probably fine with it because they did meet on a porn set but I also think that she decided that his porn career was never going to be part of their private life and appearing in documentary dedicated to Rocco would be crossing the line.

I think you're misunderstanding me. Rosa is in the film regularly and talks in the film about Rocco and her relationship with him.
She didn't refuse to be in the film at all, she is quite upfront about everything in the film.
Rocco is the one who seems conflicted about having a wife and children while performing in film, not Rosa.

I'm still mulling over my thoughts on this. As a piece of artistic filmmaking, I thought it was quite brilliant. As an insight into a man's life and career, I don't think we got to see very much. To me, this was a carefully staged and crafted piece, driven in large part by Rocco and his mystique. His emotions may be real, but often scenes felt a little manipulated. The scenes with his sons made me acutely uncomfortable--neither one of them appeared to want to be there and Rocco's efforts to make it seem like they had an emotional connection felt forced.

Both Rosa and Rocco have appeared often on TV in Italy , as guests of some show , they go together or separately and they talk quite openly about their porn careers , this is not the first time they do that , when Rocco went through his first hiatus she hinted she had problems to keep up with him sexually
He's the one uncomfortable about having a family and being still in porn

For sure I saw that, as well as some of the scenes between his cousin and Kelly that seemed staged or at least instigated by Rocco. To me, he is a performer, some of the way he presented himself was self-consciously melodramatic. But that is probably inevitable in a doc on a performer/actor.

Ok so I checked out this documentary entirely because of this post. Overall I was very disappointed. It's hard to do a documentary on yourself when he's the one financing it. I wanted to get insight into Rocco's life and what made him become a porn star, how his family deals with it but we get shockingly little amounts of info. The only interesting part for me was seeing a bit of behind the scenes on porn sets. I'd give it a 5/10.

Can someone explain the part in the middle of the documentary about Rocco's life when he retired a short time in 2009. I could have sworn he said that he was banging old ladies and tranny prostitues for a year? Overall I was kind of bored with the documentary outside if Gabriel's goofy behavior. 4/10

Just finished watching this on Netflix. It was interesting to get some background into Rocco as not a porn performer.
I enjoyed watching parts of it where it felt like behind the scenes of a shoot when people were being themselves. It was interesting to see what girls say about sex. They are all portrayed as loving what they do.
But I also saw this as a vehicle to promote what would be Rocco's last movie. The scenes in the movie, supposedly being his last, can be found in "Rocco & Kelly: Sex Analysts" which came out on September 13. But looking at Evil Angel's websites, he released Rocco's Intimate Castings 9 on September 25, and he was four more releases coming between October to November.
So, I don't know what this thing about doing his last movie was about. Maybe he changed his mind after.
I still rank Rocco as number 1 of all time, as a male performer. So, I'm hoping he still continues to perform and bring his brand of porn for a long time to come.

Yeah, Rocco had sex with old women in his films. A taste for transexuals is also no surprise to anyone really familiar with his work.
In his excellent book of film criticism Born in Flames Howard Hampton writes that Rocco brought the sexuality of the gay underground bath-houses to straight pornography, there was always a strong undercurrent of the homoerotic, perverse and what Susan Sontag calls 'the demonic' in his work. In that way I think he isn't just be melodramatic when he refers to the 'devil between his legs.'
Some here have suggested that Rocco had paid for this film to be made but I've looked at the producers and see no evidence of that. There may be an element of self-promotion in the film of coursenthere almost always is in this kind of project but certainly it is less so than in the documentary that was made by Ron Jeremy for instance which felt like a whitewash. Whatever its flaws this isn't a whitewash I think.
In terms of whether it was his last scene, just because something comes out later doesn't mean it was shot later. Porn production is notoriously haphazard and release schedules are all over the place.

^ I will have to read that. And yes I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised by Rocco's sexuality.
