With AVN AEE coming up in January, I just wanted to know what kinds of questions fans want to read or see in most interviews with the stars? I notice that some of the one-on-one conversations (especially my own) usually steer into the common "do you enjoy your work?" (to which they always say, "yes") or "does size matter to you?" (to which they always politely say, "no") or some other bland form of generic, plain vanilla interview. Since time is limited with many of the actors, actresses and directors, I am interested in hearing about what is most important in any particular interview you read or watch...
General questions like background, ethnicity, family life, pre-porn work?
Inquiries into their likes and dislikes about porn in general, or about their sexual partners in general?
Controversial topics like obscenity prosecutions, rough sex, extreme sex acts?
Personal questions like divorces, problems with a particular studio or director or film?
And so forth...
Basically, what do you want in a pornstar interview?
I don't think there's ever any specific information I want, and the last thing I want is canned answers to standard questions. What I like in BTS interviews on DVDs is anything that shows me the personality of the subject. Just let it flow, have a conversation. If she's passionate about lingerie, baking cookies, or Radiohead or anything, let that come out. Y'know?
I'm really interested in knowing more about them personally, what kind of music do they like, sports fan or not, favorite movie, actor and actresses!! Sure I like to know that they enjoy sex, their favorite positions, if they like anal but mostly I'm into knowing more about them as a person!!!
i also like the interview to seem flowing and not so staged, just let the interview take off any direction as if you were having coffee with one of these starlets, directors, stars. i like to questions that delve more into the person's life out of porn, most of sex stuff can be answered by watching the videos or visiting a site like avn, get answers to questions that cannot get anywhere else, like favourite foods, music, one question i dont mind about there work is the funniest thing that has ever happened to them on a set, they are always a good read

Personally I think they are a waste of time in a video. Keep it under 30 seconds and I'm fine. I just want to see a nice dick being played with, ya know?

Jade,
Den does not make DVDs or movies. He writes reviews at ADE, runs Diesel's Den at ADE, and has the opportunity to interview some stars on occasion. He posts the interviews in text form.
In an interview I like to read about the pornstars background, how they started in the business, favorite scenes, favorite partners, favorite movies and all that sort of stuff.
Thank you, Denver Don, for clarifying my post and my position. I should have been more specific.
Again, the question is what interested porn fans want to see in an interview, whether it is transcribed like the one with TRICIA DEVEREAUX and NIKKI DIAL or the video ones which is seen on INSIDE PORNSTARS (an affiliate of Adult DVD Empire).
Sometimes, interviewers focus too much on the obvious like "do you like being in porn?" or the too obscure "how do you like your eggs cooked?" And I want to know what fans are truly looking for.
yeah, it's always easy to sit back and say "I could do a way better interview than this." But when you're the one in charge of coming up with the questions, you realize it's tough.
--> if their vagina could talk and give a short speech to America, what would it say? (encourage their use of a mickey mouse voice) --> has she found out a reliable way to guess a guy's penis size just by sizing him up? (have a lineup of guys standing by and see if she can arrange them in order of ascending penis lengths) --> talk about the time they pooped on stage by accident. --> have them sing a song together with the grips and makeup person. critique the performance like they would on star search. --> play a board game like chutes and ladders with them while drinking and flashing and asking questions. Observe how they handle the agony of defeat and the glory of victory. --> thumb wrestle them real competitively and hope that it leads to some kind of digit orgy. --> see if they can do word problems. provide scratch paper.
See what I mean? It's not easy to come up with anything good. If they could give real answers like in a private conversation, then that would open up some great lines of questioning. But since they've got to say the things that will keep making them the most money, there really aren't a lot of interesting topics from which to choose.
I know I've been making a lot of immature posts on this thread, here is a serious one. It is not so much the question as the answer. I'll give you an example, completely hypothetical and made up, ES is the interviewer and there are two porn stars, at the end of the interview tell me which one you liked better, enjoy.
ES: So how about a little background information from you...let's start with where were you raised?
PS1: Buttfuck nowhere.
or....
PS2: I was raised in Buttfuck NW, its a small town in Indiana.
ES: What was it like growing up there?
PS1: It sucked.
PS2: It was fun, there wasn't much to do there though. When I was in high school we drove around a lot.
ES: So how old were you when you first had sex?
PS1: 16
PS2: 18, It was my senior year in high school on Prom Night. I will never forget that night. I wanted to have sex so bad and things just weren't going the way I wanted. I wanted everything to be romantic but instead there was another couple in the room and the guys were drinking a lot. Well lets just say the sex is much better now.
I might add that before you do the interview, you must decide whether or not it will be a positive interview or a negative one. If you want a positive interview NEVER ask about worst experiences. Only ask positive questions. If you are aiming for a more assinine interview ask questions like, "Does all ass taste the same". Your target audience should be the determining factor on what you ask. All "fan's" vary. What is the message you want to convey? My made up interview was a bad example of questions to ask. What if her first time she was raped? Good luck with your interview's.
Try and look up previous interviews so you don't ask repeat questions. If you ask them about watching porn & he or she says Yes, ask him or her for Desert Island DVD Picks as a follow-up question.
Since you asked I will just come up with questions on my own. However, if you are looking for some interesting out of no where questions try picking up a book an doing job interviews and see some of the questions they are asking. There are some really off the wall things that are meaningless but make them think on their feet and can be very funny.
I'll make sure to tap you on the shoulder while you're taking pictures, Lee.
To all those who responded - thanks for the suggestions! It's tough to ask interesting questions without a script when time is so limited. Hopefully, Adult DVD Empire will have plenty of good interview reading material for you after the show is over.
for me this would be most exciting as well, as the normal dumb ass questions. I t would be most excited to know the person which is standing behind it,
but aint it all show, and they wanna keep their privacy ??? if so I even would understood it prety good as well
Personally I would be more interested in seeing an interview with questions about the person and her thoughts about the industry, her movies, her life, her hobbies what she likes and dislikes. Background and dreams for the near future.
But having Jenna Jameson in an interview is kinda hard, she sells herself out so much so she can make more money with sounding horny 29.9 hrs a day, showing her tits off and just acting like the star JennaJ- not the woman Jenna Jameson...is that more fun? yes, it could be sometimes but not in the long run time after time watching her do interviews.
Let the person come out and talk about the most common things in life but do not forget talking about her profession. Maybe these questions should come in later in the interview so the casual issues are cleared at first and then they can act up like the selling stars they are?
Id like to ask them if they regret anything about what they have done in the business like.... Did they go to anal/swallow/creampie too fast? Was there a movie that they felt totally degraded in? Do they regret doing a movie or having to do a guy?
Id just like to get some really meaty questions answered. Make em shed some tears (its good for the make-up), lol.
Diesel, could you remind Andrew Blake to release Unleashed on DVD. Also, please find out from Private if they plan on releasing a Private Life of Mercedes(aka Eva Black, Eva Hot) compilation. Thanks.
Everytime I see Andrew Blake (who is a hell of a nice guy), I constantly remind him that longtime fans wants his back catalog of releases, including the title you mentioned. I understand that during those very few moments when he has free time, he does search sites like this one and Adult DVD Empire, and he is aware that people want his classics out as soon as possible.
However, I will mention that title specifically, and hopefully get an updated interview with him.
I hope I didn't suggest a scripted interview, try going for a "connection" and strike up a conversation. Make the performer well aware of your intentions to transpose the conversation into an interview. Let reality flow.
