I was talking to a friend about a story idea I had for a Girlfriends Films type story--the modern version of a feature where you actually have dialog and plot to give context to the sex scenes. Made me wonder, how much does the writer actually write? Does he/she write the sex scenes to, or does he just set up the situation and the details of the scene is worked out by the actors and the director? People watching Gonzo are mostly there for the star and sex act so it makes sense that the sex doesn't vary much within the genre. However, with features the plot informs the type of sex and the sex should be acted and shot accordingly. There are times we shouldn't be seeing blowjobs, certain standard porn positions, or even the sex from beginning to end. There was a time years ago when some features did this and not every scene was always a full out porn scene from beginning to end and it was interesting, moved the story along and something different. But these days we almost never come into a scene with the sex in progress or leave before the popshot or have a short intense scene with only a couple of positions. And the emotions during the sex doesn't always fit the plot or characters. I wonder if it's because of the audience demanding to see certain things or the director not wanting to do things differently or what. [Link] |
