I was just wondering, as I have alot of old video's by them from the early 90's and I needed to get the names for the video's as some of them don't have names.
Erodvd.nl has some actual Magma titles. I have got "Kate the cat" (VHS, nice girls, middle-rated sex) and "Nailed" (DVD, fetish stuff, really good scenes).
Their homepage does not work since several months...

They were HUGE in Europe in the late eighties/early nineties, kind of the "Private" of that period.
They released many big budget movies, mostly by Nils Molitor (Moli) then. Moli is an excellent director. Also at that time they had Magma "Spezial" series (vignette series in a certain genre, i.e. anal, pissing, masturbation, rubber, etc....) which were awesome. I wish they re-issued those on DVD.
They did a few medium budget films recently but they have lost big chunks of market share.
Well, EroDVD may list several Magma titles, but I've only managed to actually get one out of the four times I've ordered from them (Au Pair Teenies). Every other Magma title I've ordered from EroDVD has been "out of stock". Annoyingly, you don't find this out until the package arrives and that title isn't in there, just a note saying "sorry, we didn't have that one". No back-ordering, no advance email, nothing.
I guess I could email in advance and ask "have you got this" and "have you got that" but it would be nice if the site listed the stock status for each title. In fact, even Laser's Edge doesn't tell you in advance whether a title is in stock.

Speaking of Erodvd.nl they have started listing a line they call "EVP Magma", on the cover of the DVDs there is the logo "MAGMAFILM". I assume it's the same company given there are a few titles by Philippe Soine, one of the regular Magma directors?

It is my understanding that EVP is not a sub-label of Magma. EVP appears to be an independent company, whose products are distributed by Magma.
[Check out www.interbuch.at, where you can find some (large format) box-covers of EVP releases. The only logo on those videos is that of EVP. Magma is only mentioned in the small print: "Im Vertrieb der Magmafilm GmbH", followed by their address in Essen.]
EVP has released some Philip Soine films, and also titles by Christoph Clark, such as "Anale Engelchen", "Anale Anfaengerinnen" and "Schlangesteh'n zum Darm-Verkehr". Currently only available at VHS. Would be nice if these were released at DVD for a reasonable price!
Some info from November's Hot Video magazine(thanks to you know who you are)...
Roughly translating from an interview with Nils Molitor, Magma head honcho:
Magma were bought out by a Swiss company, Mascotte Films, in 2000, making them one of the big five in the field. Nils has apparently been doing softcore for TV as well as hardcore. They still produce and distribute 22 films per month, Nils doing 2-3 personally, with the bulk from other directors (German studs Reinhardt and Freddy Dalton are mentioned) and via licensing deals, including an exchange with Alkrys.
He mentions two contract girls - Anja Juliette Laval, and Tyra Misoux (oh please!), the latter allegedly being a genuine nympho. Believe it or believe it not. Nils comments about hardcore on TV, particularly when asked about the strict laws in Germany to protect minors from smut, and also about the level of violence you can show in German porn (i.e. not much, but you can show very hard sex, as we know). He thinks soft is good for TV, and hardcore for video/DVD, the latter of which is really picking up in sales in Germany after a slow start.
Incidentally, I note that the European DVD vendor mentioned above (won't give 'em totally free plug) have a bunch of "classic" Magma titles (hopefully still with hilarious narration) available for loow prices...
Well, I still have a VHS knocking about somewhere of French Baby, but I really am not sure, looking at the cover art, that this is the same movie. It was very rude indeed, though, as I recall. In all honesty, I can't say I would really recommend any, and besides, I haven't seen most of the ones they have there. Or at least, I used to have a number of pirated tapes with no titles. Maybe Squidmonkey has ended up with some of my old collection! I would quite like to see the one with Rocco in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, though, it should be a laugh at least.
