I know this is probably old news, but I'm just curious, whatever happened to Wave? Did Vivid buy them out?

My recollection is that Wave was a Vivid-owned label, that distributed their "cheaper end" videos.
The Wave label allowed Vivid to sell more videos--before many gonzo-focused little companies sprung-up. These new companies were rougher, less professional--and delivered more in-your-face sex. They outsold the Wave product, and Vivid discontinued the Wave line, at about the same time they went exclusively to dvds (Wave was VHS).
If you're looking for scenes from old Wave videos, chances are they're on a Vivid comp dvd somewhere.

Between 2000 and 2002 Vivid used the Wave label for cheap DVD re-releases of their old feature films like for example "Bonnie & Clyde", "The Brat", "Blame It On Ginger".

Well what got me thinking of it was that when I bought one of my favorite movies on DVD, Jenna Jameson's Starting Over, it was a Vivid release, though my VHS copy was from Wave. I got confused because you always hear how Jenna started out with Wicked and then went to Vivid, but no one ever mentioned Wave, so I didn't know if they were the same company or what.

I've enjoyed most of the Wave DVD releases I've seen: a little plot, pretty girls with minimal tattoos, usually condom-less, and sometimes anal and DP. Still looking for US studios who meet these criteria, but I find better luck with the European studios (Daring, Private, Pinko, ATV).

Also, Vivid started dumping these Wave feature discs in 2-disc sets with a Vivid comp as the main feature on the DVD sleeve. Last summer, I bought a bunch of these cheap at a Hustler store. Bonnie & Clyde was one of the features and other titles came inside of goofy comps like Trianing Bras Half Off, Way In the Black, Tongues and Toes, Teen Face Fest, I Wish They Could all Be California Girls and others---T0M

Given the depth of Vivid's "Wave" library--and the low number of current productions--they may decide to put out a "Wave Collection" on dvd. It would be a way to preserve these sexvids, that are not of the high quality of the "Vivid label" do represent an important part of adult video history.
And, yep, it would make Vivid some easy money--repackaging product without having to pay performers and directors again.
