I know that 20 to 30 years ago or so men seemed to be different than they are today. For example: Back then if you didn't get naked in the locker room with all the other guys you were considered a sissy or a weirdo. Now if a guy gets naked in the locker room more often than not he is considered gay. Most men today seem almost ashamed of their bodies. Back then men were proud when they sprouted pubic hair and would never think of shaving or trimming it. Men proudly wore their pubic hair as a badge of manhood. Now a lot of men shave and trim, almost as if they want to look pre-pubescent or de-masculinize themselves by removing their body hair. Men used to seem more self-confident and comfortable in their skin, and were proud to be men. They didn't care who saw them naked, they didn't care what their women (or their men) thought of their bushy pubic hair. They all thought they look good naked, no matter what type body they had or what size penis they had. They were men and they acted like men. It is just different now generally speaking. What happened???
I think it's partly because women have changed over the years. Many years ago I think most women liked men with a lot of body hair, like in the days of Sean Connery as James Bond. These days while some women still like body hair, I think the majority don't. If you do have hair anywhere they want it well groomed. So as women's taste in men changes, so must the man.
I can shave or trim my pubic hair and still have plenty of body hair left over. Nobody is going to mistake me for a prepubescent boy. More generally speaking, your premise - that being manly requires ignoring appearance, has never been true. It sounds to me as if you are confusing appearance with Stoicism.
I never said or inferred that being manly requires ignoring appearance. There is nothing inherently unattractive or unsanitary about body hair. It is possible to be very manly and to pay very close attention to your appearance, all without shaving or trimming your pubic hair.
So, we're just talking about fashion. We proudly wear new clothes, show off our new cars, etc.; all of which proclaim a certain status (real or imagined). In that regard, it is true that pubic hair constitutes a sign of adulthood, but by the time one reaches the legal age in our modern society I doubt that most of us really put much stock in it. Once you get there you realize that it is just a signpost, rather than the goal line.
What body hair? I'm in my early forties and almost completely hairless (none on chest or back, very fine on arms and legs). Also, couldn't grow a beard to save my life - and yet, I'm a slaphead. So, obviously, the levels of testosterone in my body are sufficient to have caused male pattern baldness but then, I have this curious lack of body hair - what's going on there then?
Meh. I like trimming my pubic hair. I live in a very warm climate. It's cooler when it's trimmed. And my wife enjoys giving me blowjobs so much more when my pubes are neatly trimmed and my ball sack is shaved, so I'm happy to oblige. The OP is making too big a deal over this. It has nothing to do with self-confidence - it's just a personal preference.

I love girls who shave. Just think it's a trend like in 90s when landing strip was the trend. Like beyond look cause oral sex with girls who are shaved is 100% better experience. IME, having oral sex in girls with bush lots of pubic hair, they shed like crazy and get pubes in teeth. Also like the bare skin to skin feel. On my side, like shaving too (myself), make skin more sensitive. But the preference or trend is just a trend like the landing strip in 90s.
I didn't shave my armpits from age 18 to age 45. Hot flashes caused me to shave them again. So there.

BYOB_Kenobi quote; IME, having oral sex in girls with bush lots of pubic hair, they shed like crazy and get pubes in teeth. BYOB...I just got done about a hour ago testing out your theory, and I'm happy to report that wifey is not a shedder...and nothing got stuck in my teeth! (I do plan on conducting further research to verify my results). I find it very appealing to nuzzle my nose in a nicely trimmed bush.
I have to shave my face to project a professional image for my career. So I guess I'm "au naturel" from the neck down. Edited by - mcs1025 on 11/6/2013 7:49:32 PM

I can't imagine someone would want to go down on that babushka. If getting laid is important to you, you may want to (strongly) consider at least trimming it down.
I've never had any complaints on my pubic hair. This is me at sexual maturation and I like it.

^ A man can be sexually mature without looking like they're wearing a 70s style afro around their shaft. I'm just saying most relatively hot girls these days will be turned off but if you're happy that's all that matters.

Yes, you can be sexually mature no matter your outward appearance. When I mentioned my sexual maturation, I was strictly speaking about my physical appearance. I don't really think it looks like I am wearing a 70s style afro around my penis, my pubic hair is a very average amount for "au naturel" pubes. All men would have the same amount of pubic hair as me if they'd let it grow out.

^ Thank you, trout. + 1,000 (there's not enough zeros) OP has posted that pic in numerous threads AND uses it as his avatar? No one wants to or needs to see that shit here.
Do you mean to say that you don't think all us men should stand together and refuse to remove or trim our facial hair, then employers would be forced to adapt!? ^ The picture doesn't bother me, but the fact that he posts it repeatedly raises some questions. Edited by - hardware on 11/7/2013 5:31:56 PM
I thought so too, seems a bit suspicious to me. mcs1025, would you please post another picture of yourself with your face visible? Perhaps doing something to identify that you took the picture in response to my request, like holding up a quarter next to your face, for instance. Because I'm beginning to suspect that perhaps there may be something else driving your need to post the same picture over and over, and I'd hate to think you're posting up someone else's picture that wasn't intended for public distribution. I'm certainly not accusing you of lying, because I really don't know. I just think most of us would feel more at ease knowing that this picture is really you. p.s. - you can keep your clothes on for the next picture, if you like.

^^It doesn't bother me either...it's worth a good chuckle, but like you, I think once is enough. Edited by - trout bum on 11/7/2013 6:03:24 PM
I started shaving my pubes a few years ago for three reasons: 1 - I would not get involved with a woman with hairy pits or a massive bush, so why should I expect her to put up with it 2 - I don't want my lover to have a mouthful of pubic hair when she performs oral 3 - you get far better oral when you are trimmed or smooth as the woman will lick everywhere and be happy with it. No strange odors in your pubic bush, hair in the teeth, etc... a happier woman means better oral This is not letting go of my manhood... It is manly to want to raise your sexual experience to a higher level by providing a better situation for your lover. I have yet to meet a woman who is turned on by lots of pubic hair. They may accept it , but that doesn't mean they rejoice over it. Edited by - earthwindfire on 12/24/2013 6:14:55 PM
Well spoken. I too have my neither-region completely bald, I just like the feel of it, plus it give the illusion that a mans member is bigger. G-dash-d dammit, Hammer!
I'm as hairy as mc1025 and I never met a woman who was embarrassed by my body hairs. They are often indifferent. Women can appreciate hairy men because it's a viril feature.
I'm old enough to remember when men were hairy and the sum total of our grooming products was a razor, Brut, Old Spice and soap. Women were (largely) expected to put up n shut up, cook, iron and raise kids. These days, women are as diverse as hairstyles - head, body and pubic - so, if we hope to enjoy ongoing physical intimacy with one, it's in our interest to ADAPT. Men have easily adapted from killing food to buying it, 40 horsepower cars to 400+ hp cars, clunky adding machines via DOS commands to Windows and working alongside women. Many have even adapted to (God forbid!) women being their supervisors or bosses. Alongside the above, adapting to a little pubic topiary seems like small potatoes - especially if that few minutes with a trimmer is the difference between getting an enthusiatic blowjob and a reluctant one,, or even no BJs and no girlfriend. If stubbornly refusing to adapt to the myriad preferences of 21st Century females is 'manly', hell, paint me pink and call me me Deborah. I'd much rather have a few neanderthals think I'm a pussy, while I'm getting some, than have the tailpipe of a 400 hp coupe being the only orifice available to me. Folly is the cloak of knavery.
To the OP--times change, deal with it or go home. Those are the hard cold facts. I was a long haired metal guy for 37 years. Back then, having hair that did not go down past my shoulders was totally unacceptable to me. My motto was "you can cut my hair when you cut it off my cold dead head". I was that way up until about 2003. Finally I gave in and cut it. Now, there is not a hair on my head over two inches long. I now go back and see those pictures and cannot figure out how I was so stubborn for so long. I wouldn't grow it back that way to save my life. Likewise, I began to trim my pubic hair about that same time. I had never even thought about it until my girlfriend mentioned it to me. Now, I love it and so do the ladies. It's just the way the times change. It doesn't matter how clean you are it just looks more hygienic. Stop hanging on to the old world. No woman wants a duck dynasty beard on their guy's junk these days.
two things i love: a bald pvssy and my freshly shaved sack...especially since i've started sprouting gray hairs down there and because i don't want my partner to have to deal with coughing up hairballs.
I shave smooth every part of my genital region that I want a woman to put in her mouth. That means my balls and my cock are shaved smooth down to the base. I trim the rest of my bush above the base. I like being smooth when a woman goes down on me. I use scissors to trim the bush hairs to about half their normal length. I leave the chest and belly hair alone since I'm not incredibly hairy. If I did have a lot of body hair I would probably trim it. In my opinion the only men that look good without the chest and belly hair are those that have ripped bodies with abdominal muscles. I used to have ripped abs from my mid 20's to mid 30's and I went smooth for a while. I figured since I worked hard developing my abs that I might as well show them off and not leave them hidden under hair.

Speaking for myself, I spend ALOT more time licking and sucking the body parts that aren't going to cause me to cough up a hairball ;)

Yes, and that is why men like us shave our pubic area. We get a lot better time with our lovers :) Guys who keep it a full bush don't realize that, because the women are not complaining about it,so they think they love it.

I dunno, I think defining what constitutes a man or a woman is boring and inhibiting. I don't know what 'a real man' is supposed to look like, as I've seen then in all shapes, sizes, hairless and hairy, etc. etc. Same for 'real women.' I won't claim that I'm not susceptible to what media and advertising has to say on the topic. I'm not gonna say I'm not affected by the ridiculous gender norms I was taught as a child. But I'm pretty much over it. I've generally stopped trying to define people by their genitalia. I've come to love the diversity I've learned about through both my personal life and porn.

the problem is not looks but hygiene...real guys have hairy balls, asses and armpits and i dont have problem with that if they are clean and take shower before sex but some guys are dirty and dont care.
