I hope we are allowed to post links. Read this article at the doctors office, a pretty interesting look in to the lives of porn stars. Mikayla and Ryder Sky amongst others. I know we just had a thread on here about stars not wearing their wedding rings By the way, would any of you marry a porn star? article -- edited to make clickable link Edited by - BigBobxxx on Aug 22 2008
^Very interesting article. It only scratches the surface of how these relationships must differ from others, but it still goes deeper than anything else I've ever read on the subject. [edit: as to whether I'd marry a porn star... well I don't think I'd marry anyone. But I'd date a porn star.] Edited by - killbillvol69 on 8/20/2008 9:06:23 PM
I'd definitely date/marry a porn star if we hit it off. My partner's job just isn't that important to me, I don't think that people are defined by the work that they do. Having said that, it's impossible for me to know how I'd really react to other people fucking my wife. It's easy to think that I'd see it as a job like any other, but in reality I wonder how it'd feed my insecurities and create jealousy. I could see it causing relationship issues once the novelty wore off. Probably a good thing that I'm pretty unlikely to ever find out.

It would be a bloody nightmare. I feel sorry for any bloke with an extremely attractive or overtly sexual girlfriend or wife; knowing exactly what every bloke who meets her is thinking. A porn star would be even worse than that in terms of the frightening mental images that would pop into your mind during the day - thinking of her with the pool guy, the pizza delivery guy, the meter reader, the elderly gent that walks his dog past the house every day, the hot soccer mom who's kid plays in the same team as ours, the crack dealer at the 7-11, the avon lady, my mother ... What a nightmare - I'd go mad!
Married pornstars acting like they're not married and not married pornstars acting like they're married......the whole system is breaking down!Depends on the girl. Trina Michaels? Hell Fucking Yes!!!
When I read the article, my first thought is that it's similar to swinging. I think a woman can be married to a porn star or have her husband swing, but the male ego will likely eventually have a hard time with his wife having sex with another man. The guys go in to it thinking it will not have an effect, or too much of one, but another guy fucking your dearly beloved? Her taking one off the chin from a total stranger? I would think the boyfriend/husband would have to be in the business to make it work. Maybe someone like Nina Hartley. She is such an interesting combination of intellect, sexuality and humor, that she rises above the fray.

How is it when I go to a Dr.'s office the choices of magazines extend from AARP to Lady's Home Journals with a smattering of year old Tome magazines.....
Trina is cool, she coached Kelly Skyline. I'm not sure I'd mind. But I sure as hell wouldn't let them work with Billy Glide...The Human Wine Bottle Edited by - tomchoad on 8/22/2008 5:26:18 PM
It would be a nightmare. Most men think it would be great or fine with them, when in reality they are just associating with the 'sexual' aspects of the relationship(YEA!...I would love to be married to...fill in the blank your favorite porn queen). Love, marriage, and relationships are more than just screwing. It takes work and trust to maintain the true balance of emotional intimacy. Being with a porn queen, stripper, or prostitute is not a good foundation.
No problem here. I get off thinking about my wife with another man, and have tried to talk her into it, to no avail. As long as the setting was safe for her, getting paid for it would only be an added bonus (and then I could watch the DVD over and over). Sex is something fun that shouldn't be taken too seriously. The only thing that would hurt me is if the feelings disappeared.
I don't know any porn stars well enough to marry one. I wouldn't not marry a woman because she is a porn star. Nor would I marry a woman because she is a porn star.
No Way in F'n Hell would I marry a porn star that is still active! Just thinking of a producer/Director telling my wife she is going to do anal with these guys and do it the way he wants would burn me! Now if I was the producer/Director it would be different. But none of these guys in the article are in the industry so they are just pawns to be bitch slapped by producers and male pornstars! Why would a guy want to marry an active pornstar? Total hotness? Hell if you can get a hot porn star, you can probably get a hot chick who doesn't do porn. Get a chick from playboy or penthouse at the most. Would it be so she brings home other chicks? Like above, you could probably get other chicks anyways. Or maybe you like dudes, which for me, no way! Marry her so she can pay the bills? She has to do more than pay bills she has to earn enough that you both retire early!! That means a strict professional life, no after parties, no blowing it on worthless stuff, or blowing it up your nose! I mean the couple is all about saving a couple million to have about 120,000 yearly interest money to live off of. Now if my wife was going to do it with some billionaire for a million be my guest! But not week after week getting banged! I laughed at the dude that said they ate pizza for their anniversary and the next day she was going to shoot a scene with other dudes! Yea Right! If it's so damn hot to have a pornstar wife, let's name all the producer/directors, male pornstars that have wives that are active porn stars?? Then how many years have they been married? And which of these couples in the industry has the longest marriage? Girlfriend pornstar, yes Wife No! Unless, we made a website and I ran it. Retired Pornstar, Ok she now made a commitment to me, I accept her past and her money and body as is. and if we want to swing once in awhile ok. MILF wife after personally banged for over 10 plus years, The fire needs to be stoked a little, Maybe, IF she pays the bills and brings home hot girlfriends.

Can I try to answer this from the other side? While no one is ever going to confuse me with being a "star" I do have an adult website, and I do videos. In fact, I am in LA now, where I just shot some things with Urbano. My husband is back home on the east coast. While I am not saying that this is for everyone, we have no problems between us. He knows that while I may be with a guy (or guys) and girls that when it's over I take my money or content and come home. He knows that I'm not going home with anyone but him. He has is own career, and while we have fun with what I do, there's no jealousy issues. It's just not a big issue for either of us. And besides, you'd love to marry me because I'm adorable and hot as hell!! ;-) Edited by - mindee on 8/23/2008 6:30:03 AM
Btw, I wonder how many husbands out there actually pushed their wife to do porn. Like it's a fantasy of the guy to see his wife do porn. Surely there must be couples like this?

Of course there are, and the so-called "swinging" community is full of them. Guys push their wives or girlfriends into doing something that they aren't willing to do, or ready to do. I can hear the line now.. "Well if you loved me..." BS! Getting into adult work because your partner thinks it's cool for you to do it while they stand by and watch is crap. It's no different than a couple who think that having a baby will fix an ailing marriage. I've worked with a couple of girls who got in because of a scenario like this and they are a mental mess. If you do adult work, you need to do it because you want to, and that you personally find it fun/exciting/lucrative/whatver. Not because someone else thinks I ought to do it. Me? I'm just a crazy old broad!
Kenneth Austin......you lucky bastard!!!!!!!! Actually Charmane Star's b/f looks remarkably normal. You normally associate pornstars with pretty tattooed boys who are all ego and no substance.
Just send her to me... :) j/k of course. But seriously, this is my dream. Sex with a woman who wants to leave afterwards, and go back to whatever other life she has. She comes to me for sex, and goes to someone else for all her other needs.

I think it depends on how you look at what porn stars do. On Adult DVD Empire they have an interview with Sunrise Adams where she says it's just like going to any other job; you go and do your work and leave. The other performers are people you get to know, you have lunch with, you meet their kids, etc. And if the husband can look at it like that then it probably wouldn't be a problem. Actually I wonder if it works better when only one member of the couple is in the business, as opposed to both. Myself, I don't think I could live with it, but it's hard to say without being in that position myself. After my wife got divorced from her first husband she went on a bit of a "wild spell", and I know I don't like seeing any of those guys she slept with, even if it was meaningless. But taking a guy to your home and having orchestrated sex with him in front of a film crew are two different things. I will say this - that Rusty is one lucky fellah! Good thing he doesn't mind guys fantasizing about his wife, because I sure do. [:P)]
The question's been asked about a dozen times in Polls. Probably not, but ultimately it would depend on the woman. I absolutely wouldn't marry her if she were still active. If she'd done it in the past, I could handle that.
I don't see why it would be a bad thing. Its her job and if you met her, fell in love, and wanted to marry her than what is the big deal? I dated a few porn stars and would not have met them if they were not porn stars. Still friends with them and they are real. No B.S. in the relationship as I know what they both do...it was refreshing. Yes, I not only would marry a porn star but I have always wanted to...just have not found the right girl, er, porn star yet.
"What if my wife were a pornstar?" After the Production Manager on my wife's current video has thrown me off the set for groping the other models and being a general distraction, I'd probably invite you out to our leased Escalade, open the suitcase I have stashed in the boot and sell you some meth. All I can say is "don't believe everything you read". I can't speak for the other couples but personally, our story was definitely portrayed in a negative fashion. I don't know where they came up with some of the shit they wrote on there. Oh, and they spelled my name wrong. That should tell you something about the validity of their fact checker.
^Thanks for posting here Ryder. Yeah, it was pretty bad that they spelled your name wrong. That's the very first thing I noticed about the article. However, as I mentioned above, even though the article isn't super in-depth, it's still more in-depth than anything else I've ever read on the subject. It's a shame they got some facts wrong. So, we've heard your story from them; could we hear it from you? Would you mind telling us a little bit about what it's like to be married to Ryder Skye? Or, perhaps you could even get your husband to write a little something, and you could post it (or have him post it)? I think that would be really neat. I imagine it wouldn't be something you'd be opposed to, since you already shared the same information for the article; this would just be your (and his) chance to clear up any misconceptions the article produced. Please consider it; I'm sure many people here would be very interested in reading your (or, again, your husband's) first-hand perspective on being married to a porn star.
I'd have no problem marrying a pornstar. I don't have the jealous gene. I actually have a little bit of experience with this. It didn't phase me. It actually turned me on in an odd sort of way.
I remember when Belladonna was the subject of that piece on 20/20 - after watching it I felt really bad for her. They made it look like she was practically an indentured servant. Then later on I read that Bella herself totally disowned the report, saying they twisted everything around to put her story in a negative light. So I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear that the media distorts the story. Unfortunately, many reporters, editors, etc. think the only good story is a bad one.
If my wife/girlfriend were a pornstar, I would have ridden their coat-tails into the industry. Amazing how many studs got their start because they were attached to the right girl.

I don't want to go too in depth on it because for one, it will probably get boring and two, I am only one performer. Everyone has their own personal experience with having relationships in this business, I don't want to misrepresent mine as a general interpretation. So in a nutshell here it is... I was married before I got into the business, therefore, my decision to choose this career path was a careful process that involved a lot of communication between both of us. I had always been open and honest about everything, therefore we had already gained a certain level of trust. From there I dipped my feet in starting from dancing, to nude modeling, to solo and g/g, to b/g. At the end of the day, he is interested in hearing about my shoots, they guys/girls I liked working with and didn't like working with, and watching my videos. In fact he is the one that always tells me when something new is coming out that I did. Without this interest (and the fact that watching it turns him on) I don't think it would have worked. Being married to an adult performer isn't easy and takes a certain type of person on BOTH ends. Every marriage has it's own set of problems and obstacles, and it is hardly ever related to just one thing. Just as long as feelings or opinions aren't repressed and there is an open line of communication and understanding, any relationship can work. It is not necessarily about the job. So again, I went off on a tangent. So to answer your question, what is it like to be married to Ryder Skye"? His answer (fyi... he literally typed this in) "I love my wife and have no problems or issues with her career choice. The most important thing is that she does something she enjoys and that makes her happy, whether that be porn or working at Burger King. We have always been very open and honest with each other and we both understand that this is a job so there has never been any issues with jealousy or deceit. I feel we have always had a very strong marriage and porn hasn't changed that at all". My answer is that I am just as much of a pain in the ass as his is to me... it all equals out in the end. Sorry for the novel. xoxo
^ Wow, Ryder, your husband sounds like a great guy (and a kindred spirit--I think I'd be exactly the same way if my wife were in the business). Thanks for the post! (And best wishes to both of you!)
I think what isn´t mentioned often enough here is how the male ego works. Personally I can hardly imagine being together with someone who has a zillion more sexual experience than me. If your wife has had sex with 100-200 guys while you as average Joe had sex with maybe 10-20 women before you got married, wouldn´t that make you feel inferior in a way ? I might be a bit old-fashioned there, but it´s the same thing as if your wife brings home 5 times your income, things like that are hard to swallow for many men. I mean sex in a loving relationship usually feels a lot better than casual sex, but isn´t is so that while you are young you still want to experience different things and that once in a while you just want to have sex with an attractive person just for the fun of it. I certainly would have a hard time sitting at home rubbing my 6" dick while my wife travels to exotic locations (if she works for a feature-film studio) and has sex with guys sporting 8-9" dicks. (don´t take the dick comparison serious :D)

Like I mentioned above... everyone is different so what is right for one person may not be for another. You have to understand too that income and # of sex partners are all gender expectations that are socialized, not innate. The male ego only recognizes these things because of the way society has shaped what men and women are "supposed" to do or be. Therefore, we are all capable of changing the way we think about things if we allow ourselves too. I think that if you really wanted to be with someone, these things shouldn't be a defining factor. Just my opinion.
I totally agree, Ryder. Letting go of one's ego (whether "male" or whatever) can only lead to greater pleasure in life and in sex. (It's a fundamental concept in Buddhism.) Society tells you that you should be jealous if "your" woman is with other men, so you accept this jealous male ego as part of your identity. But if you question it, if you ask yourself, "what is the point of being jealous/feeling threatened?", you may find that you really get turned on by the idea of her being with other men. But everyone's different, and this is just my perspective, of course. Life for me is a lot more fun without ego.
Ryder, thanks so much for replying to my request for a little bit more info, and also for having your husband type in his little bit too. That was really interesting. I've expressed in this thread and others that I don't think I'd have too much of a problem dating a porn star... the "male ego" thing doesn't affect me too much in general, so that wouldn't be an issue. I guess the one question I have left, for Ryder or any other porn star willing to answer, is this: If you've been married since before you were a porn star, how (if at all) has your sex life with your husband/wife changed since you became a porn star?
