One time I was working in a retail store. Lo and behold, and old tall man comes into the store with a poker dot white and red dress. No wig, just a bald old man with a dress, purse and stockings. Everybody was shocked. Me I never seen such the kind. I realized that this man was a cross dresser.
Question? Why? I heard it's something that is mental. At least to the documentary on channel 4 a year ago.
I also heard some men say that at times, it has ruined his family and his marriage.
So my question is...why? Why? Why?
I mean, they don't like men, and they aren't gay, but...I don't get it.
This is a true mystery, Sonic. No one really knows why this is. I was amazed to see an old boyfriend discover this about himself (but not as amazed as HE was, he he) and you would never guess to look at him, very masculine. We are still close friends, so I can say one thing I have observed about this. It VERY MUCH has to do with the clothes, there's something fetish-like about the dressing and wearing of pretty lingerie and dresses, etc. that drives this. My friend is also at a loss to explain it - but he feels absolutely compelled to do it, it relaxes him, he feels so much more comfortable in women's clothes he says. I don't get it either, but I have sympathy for those who feel this need. It's really not their fault.
I never understood this either. I used to date a girl that was a singer in for a band. (A real girl, not a guy in girl's clothing.) I was quite surprised one evening when I showed up over her place a little early and she was doing the band's lead guitarist's makeup for him. I was quite shocked.
As it turns out the guy loved to dress up like a girl every other week an go hang out with similar folks at a local bar in Lakewood, OH. He wasn't gay and seemed quite normal in most respects. He was an English professor at a very respected college in Cleveland during the day. Cross dressing guy with 80's band big-hair by night. You just never know about some people.

I agree dumblonde. Perhaps it has something to do with the clothing texture, feel, etc?
I can understand a bit I guess, I mean I love putting my face up a female's butt, so that's some sort of a fetish I guess.
I should be able to answer that Sonic..I have had a number of friends and co-workers that were cross dressers and I never quite got a grasp on what was so apealing about it either.
My best understanding is that it is fun to dress up, to feel pretty, and to enjoy all those frilly, soft, silky things womyn take for granted as a part of their wardrobe.
It's just my impression but I think there has to be some part of cross dressers that seeks the rush of being so taboo as well.
I can understand it for certain situations, like meeting the in-laws or a sibling's significant other for the first time or going to the Rocky Horror Picture Show (which a girl i kind of chased after in my early college days almost had me talked into). other than that, i don't get it.

FYI - most transvestites are actually heterosexual men. Strange but true. I suspect is mostly the sensation of feeling pretty. Let's face it, mens clothing is not designed to make you feel pretty.

I've already got my little sister terrified of me meeting her dates. I wasn't allowed to know she was going on her first date until two hours after she left. I finally had to start stopping by my parent's house until I caught them there. Just to make her more paranoid, I was really nice to him the couple times I've met him. I keep telling her that the first impression is the important one. Once they think you're a nice guy, then the fun starts.
Oh, boy. I've known people with all kinds of fetishes, but Cross dressing just boggles my mind.
I was seeing this guy a while ago that got off on dressing up like Betty Page. He even had pictures of himself as Betty Page. The scary part was that he looked just like her.
Of course, he also had a mad case of Kleptomania(from the fetish shop we all hung out at), but I digress..........
