I recently saw Jewel Raider which was a mix of an action movie and porn. It was very good with decent quality action sequences and martial arts. It was ovious ther film had a bit of a budget. I have no idea how well it sold but im hoping there are other films like this that are watchable as films and but deliver with the porn aswell. Also i was wondering what the most expensive film made. I have a feeling it may be a Jenna film.
I think it's still the Devil in Miss Jones, Part 2, which I directed TWENTY ONE YEARS AGO for $330.000. If we shot the same film today, its budget would easily exceed a half million.
However, even while that budget was staggering a generation ago; the film's producers made its budget back, plus a profit, after negotiating and completing the film's first sale.
V.C.A. purchased the U.S. video cassette and laser disc rights for $440,000.

Private Uranus Experiment Trilogy did the zero gravity scenes. Here is an excerpt from a John Millerman interview about making the movie.

John Millerman PRIVATE: Where did the idea of shooting sex scenes in weightlessness come from? JOHN MILLERMAN: The idea of the movie came directly from Berth Milton, the owner of Private. He wanted to do something really new, something that had never been done before in the adult video industry.
P: A film featuring sex scenes in "space" must have a very high budget. What did the producers and the people from Private say as you explained them your project? JM: The budget for the film was not that high. We kept the costs down by working in our own studio, building the spacecraft ourselves and at every moment keeping to a strict budget.
P: Give us some more details of the shooting. The scenes in the plane have surely been the most exciting. How was it? JM: We got the plane due to personal contacts. This is not a kind of exercise that pilots normally do. So it was not easy. As we had only about 27 seconds to shoot the zero gravity shots. We had to plan everything very carefully. We did some rehearsals and then we just shot, we used two cameras and they were tied to the cameramen, who were tied to the aircraft. As it was a risky venture, we had as few personnel on board as possible. I was there all the time. I was also tied to the aircraft during the shooting but now and then I untied myself so that I could experience weightlessness. We encountered a lot of unforeseen problems whilst shooting the zero-gravity scenes. The positive thing was that nobody was airsick and the shots were better than anyone had expected.
P: What did the actors / actresses said when you told them what the film was about? Were they afraid before or during the shooting in weightlessness? JM: I chose actors that were excited about the idea. They had to be in good physical shape, which we tested beforehand. The tricky part was that the guys had to perform during these tough conditions. However as it turned out they performed exceptionally well, and I would go as far as to say that they are probably the best professionals in the world.
I believe the winner is In Love , made about the same time as DMJII , in 1983. It budgeted out at about $750,000. Again, as in the case with Henri's film, this budget was possible because of cable deals (Playboy put some of the money up), the profit which could be made off of a theatrical run in those days, and the much more lucrative nature of the video/laser sales. The funny thing is, that while that film was called an instant classic at the time (the late Chuck Vincent directed it), today it is virtually forgotten.
Well okay; If my pictures must stand second to any filmmaker, in any catogory, then let it be John Stagliano's; that's good enough for me.

Hi Henri! I don't think it's a waste to spend a lot of money on a porn film, as long as the director does his best to get the most for his money in all the aspects.
