I cannot help that think that one of the reasons that this has become so prevalent, especially step-incest, is that it is one of the few genres where the actors are actually somewhat believable in their acting. Whereas most classic porn plots are fairly ridiculous, the idea that step-siblings might get horny and go at it makes for a fairly simple story that doesn't need much more from either the writer or the actors. If the writing quality and acting skill improved substantially in the industry then I'm convinced that we would see a lot less of this genre. And a few alternative plot devices would/will also outcompete this genre rather quickly I suspect. To back up my theory I can only say two things. #1 That is the reason I watch it. I might be alone, but I doubt it. (Following the general rule of: "Don't think that you are unique/special, you aren't.") #2 If incest was really popular, why is the 'step' variety so prominent in comparison to the 'real deal'? (This I avoid like the plague. Instant total turn off for me and I'm sure many others.) While people who actually had step-siblings might not see much or any difference, for me it works because it doesn't trigger my taboo nerve and I do like to have some context in my porn. Why now though? You might ask. Easy to explain actually. We have finally moved toward younger and better looking male porn stars. When the norm was that the guy looked 10+ years older than the girl, this story didn't make much sense. Hopefully, and probably, other settings will in time take over. If someone here has an example of another plot device that explains why some mutual attraction has built up together with an explanation as to why the actors are alone in a house without requiring much effort from actors/writers I'd love to hear it (and go watch it). In time I'm sure the industry will come up with a few, but for now there isn't much. Kids studying together is closest, but for some reason the acting/plot is often rather horrible there. Perhaps because porn writers sucked so much in school they cannot write even a few believable sentences? I dunno. I'm surprised there isn't more, and better, porn of that. For me, the attraction of this kind of stuff is the taboo itself. people that can´t have a relationship but are attracted to eachother. They move around eachother and then suddenly can´t hold it anymore and give inn to eachother. If the acting had been taken out and the story had come to life by using camera-guy's freakin' talking instead of lame dialogue, like Jake Malone managed to do by his talking, and Dany Case too, things could be hot. It takes some kinda genius to figure out those things. It ain't me, but maybe some other Mr. Ears are so underrated as an instrument, as if musicbiz and talkshowfreaks and standupfellas and sportidiots run some kinda monopoly. Monkeybusiness by oral, get on your feet, it's not all about sucking cocks.
For me personally, the best thing about so much "family" porn being put out is I can now watch certain porngirls who would otherwise be mostly only doing "barely legal" stuff. I tend to prefer curvy women but I also like some girls like Elsa Jean and a few others with that body type. In the family porn stuff they tend to dress girls their age. I'm not a fan of the "barely legal" stuff that go too far tries to dress and make them look and act under-age. What's up? Boredom, that's what's up with it - porn gets boring after a while and it's the job of the porn producers to come up with newer, different, better. Trouble is, there's nothing new under the sun, and it's mostly all been done before - even way back in the early day of the movie camera, before sound even. Harmless enough, I suppose, as pure fantasy - I doubt it encourages any unwilling participants to try it out. Within the family I'd find it revolting, and I guess most people would, but it does seem popular at the moment - it's everywhere.
