The database errors have been going on for a good while now.

We're aware of the issues and we're working on them.
If you can e-mail any error messages you get to iafd@iafd.com it'd help us troubleshoot what's going on. Let us know what you were searching on and what was in the dropdown box (i.e "Title/Movie/Review", "Performer Name" etc.)
The searching seems to be the slowdown.
I find when surfing from page to page the performance is good, the searching however sucks.

I've found it a pain lately too.
Often the site is down, for maintenance of some sort.
The searching can be very slow.
If I start off from google, and do a search for say, iafd Teagan Presley. It will take me to Teagan's listings pretty quick.
If however, I'm already in iafd, looking at someone's listing and then type another actress in the search box, it can take either forever, or it won't do the search at all and some error message appears.

I wouldn't classify the maintenance page's appearance as "often" (except for the two days earlier this month whilst we rebuilt the server) I don't think I've turned it on more than a few times for limited amounts of time since then.
But that's neither here nor there.
We're aware the search engine is sucking right now and we're looking at all the variables -- Disk I/O, Index management, etc. We're pretty sure it doesn't have to do with Disk I/O since the site tends to fly going from page to page -- it's the searching that stinks.
I've often found it easier to do a six-degrees-of-starlet-x path thru the site than to do individual searches... and we know that's a problem. We'll be working on it for a little while longer today, but then the parties start, and we'll take some more whacks at it tomorrow...

Jeff in the last couple of days I would call it "often" when I search a stars name or movie from the movie/review/performer box. I get the database error use a shorter search maintenance etc.... message maybe 2 out of 3 times.

I would like to take a moment to thank Jeff, along with all the others over at IAFD, for all the work they put into the free site they offer us.

Yeah it's been a source of much research and entertainment for me for quite a while now. No disrespect meant by pointing out the current status.

Oh! That's the timeout/error page -- yeah... that one's coming up a lot lately. :-(
There's a separate maintenance page that I put up when I have to reboot the database server and stuff; and that's the one I was talking about only using occasionally...

I know you've got these searching problems to deal with at the moment... but once that's fixed, in the fullness of times, it would be really neat if there was an RSS feed for each starlet that would update whenever a new movie (rather than gallery) was associated to her...
Thanks for a great resource in IAFD!

I think IAFD could be a little more accurate as far as the performers go. I just checked out Mark Wallice and it has him listed as performing until 1999 but the HIV scandal that he was involved in was during 1997 so something is amiss there. At one point they had Jordan McKnight as active until 2003 but I had to point out that Mark Wallice derailed her career in 1997 so more research needed to be done. I am drunk too much so I must end my talk now.

1. Search Appliance, we'll add that to the wishlist of things to develop. We'd like to add more RSS to the site.
2. Dean Wormer, if you see these inconsistencies when you're surfing around, hit the "submit corrections" button on the page you see the error and let us know. I'll hunch and say the Marc Wallice thing is either a comp not tagged as such being released after his "retirement" or older footage being released as new. Our Years Active field is calculated nased on the earliest year and latest year in the filmography, so it's an issue of correcting the filmography to bring the Years Active into line, as opposed to vice versa.

Jeff, I'd like to add my voice to those who applaud your efforts at IAFD.
No, you haven't yet attained perfection, but you guys do a wonderful job and are a great boon to porn-info seekers everywhere.
I thank you.

I was having a lot of trouble with the search function a few days ago, but I've had no trouble the past two days, it's looks like it's fixed, well done guys.
I'd also like to add my appreciation to Jeff and his team at IAFD.
Since I found out about this service, it's the first place I go to now to search for the movies of particular pornstars, just a truly great site.

Jeff things seem to be working much better on the database now. Congrats. Would it be hard to incorporate a "studio" search into the general search menu?

The IAFD already has a studio search right here.
In case you want to find it yourself next time, it's the second link in the drop down menu under the "IAFD Resources" tab.

well, i've always liked iafd. ive seen a few things myself where things were wrong or missing or whatever, but hey, with 80000 films detailed and listed like that, its certainly ok, and the info available more than makes up for any errors
