He has released as of now four short DVDs. That could have easily fit onto one DVD. Why?

(also, if anyone knows, how is his court case going?)

Ahhhh, you mean since some unspecified point in time?

I mean I recently received 16 Seymore Butts DVD's from two eBay auctions -- at a tasty price.

He released these two on 10/18/01:
Two Butts Are Better Than One (23 minutes!)
Wise Cracks (35 minutes)

and just recently he released on 11/21/01:
Young Buns (36 minutes)
Three's Company (44 minutes)

Why so short?

Just random speculation, but..

He needs money for his legal fees at the moment...

He has a reasonably good name amongst consumers...

He's milking it for all the cash he can get for it - the more content he can stretch out and flood the market with over more product the more money he can (potentially) make in a short-term period. (before he totally destroys consumers' goodwill towards him and his own rep).

Just speculation of course, but I would like to see some answer as to the whys from Seymour or someone close to him...

cheers,

The gang at Seymore Butts wanted to reply to the issues raised by BIGmike and others regarding the “Seymore’s Classic Moments” line of DVDs. This line was conceived to sell for $9.95 retail and its purpose was to introduce a new generation of fans to Seymore’s gonzo films. With hard and lengthy trailers, each runs over an hour, a good value at $9.95, but we can understand that consumers might be upset at buying this product at a price comparable to a Seymore Butts feature release. Alas, we have no control over how much our vendors charge the consumer. Let the buyer beware.

Seymore’s trial has been postponed until February. At his last court hearing comparable evidence was submitted, including a pictorial from Penthouse that showed two women fisting. We expect to have this expensive ordeal behind us soon. Trial updates can be found in the news section (its free) at our Web site, www.teamtushy.com. Our next feature DVD release is Tushy Bowl 2001 shipping in mid-December. On behalf of the fearless Seymore Butts and his colleagues, we thank everyone in the community for their support and wish everyone a very merry holiday season.

Hey teamtushy & seymore,

I was just wondering not really complaining, adultdvdempire is selling them for $12.95 a piece.

So I thank you for the response, I have only seen two of his DVDs, and while the one was good, the other blew me away! So tell him to keep up the good work.

I also noticed that in Penthouse they have been publishing fisting pictures. Good for them, good for you, and good for me.

I wish Seymore the best!

Teamtushy and Seymore --

Just wanted to say I absolutely support your legal battle, and think the government case is ridiculous. Though of course very burdensome for you to fight, alone it seems in the adult industry.

I admire you for fighting this battle. I applaud you for it. I fully expect you will win.

You are gonna find you have won a lot of good will. Especially when you do win. I predict.

(Fisting is such a ridiculous issue for the gov't to draw the line at. Or course so is the whole GS issue as well.)

Go Seymore!!!

Great to see TEAMTUSHY in this forum.

I understand your point about 'introducing a new generation of fans to Seymore’s gonzo films' buy putting out cheap'n cheerful dvds.

I believe this may have an adverse effect, because this 'new generation' will be watching a product that does not do justice to your skills as one of the best anal gonzo producers in the USA.

I am sure you will win MORE loyal fans by releasing films such as:
-TUSHY GIRL LOST
-Backdoor to Buttsville 1&2
-TUSHY GIRL MAGAZINE

These are just a few fantastic films that are begging to be put on to dvd.

Most of us are willing to pay full price for a good product.
(look at the success of EVIL ANGEL for reference)

Well, I've picked up all 4 of the shorties and I have very mixed feelings about them.

My biggest complaint about them is that the back cover lists the running time as 70 minutes. It also includes the statement "approximately 70 minutes of award-winning anal action!!!". As BIGmike pointed out, the longest feature isn't even forty five minutes long. I didn't time each trailer etc., but I'm not sure that Two Butts are Better Than One is even an hour long total.

On the plus side, the sex in the features so far has been pretty good, and a good representative of Seymore's style, however it's only one scene. Some other studios offer decently done entire features for only a couple bucks more, so I can't really recommend the DVDs for a new viewer. As a new viewer I'm also going to look around. Why the heck should I pay $10 or so for one Seymore scene when other companies release some of Seymore's other stuff that are entire features, some lasting over two hours, for only a couple bucks more? Also, the viewer only gets one scene to see if they like Seymore's style or not. There's no way I'm going to recommend somebody pay about $10 for one scene when they could pay $20 or so for an entire movie with quite a few scenes so the person has more than one chance to like a scene.

Despite all my problems with them, the short DVDs aren't a bad idea. If they're going to stay like this, with just one scene, I think they're be much better used as a freebie DVD with the purchase of another Seymore DVD. I think they'd be much better if there would be more than one scene on a DVD, but most importantly give a real feature time. I felt completely screwed and was about ready to not look at Seymore's movies again after popping in Two Butts are Better Than One expecting a short feature and instead getting a medium length scene. I'm sure I won't be the only one.

great feedback, points well taken and under discussion here. to further clarify the positioning of these DVDs, consider that there is a huge market, mostly in rural America, far from the coasts, that must rely mostly on "catalog" type product. countless small video store operators throughout the heartland couldn't care less about quality or choice, their buys are based on low-price only. "seymore's classic moments" is our opportunity to reach the worthy constituents who shop at these stores.

It's great to hear that Seymore is trying to get their product out to all the little places, but I think this is going to backfire. I used to frequent many of those little stores, and live in a very rural area in the midwest. All of the places I went to tried to have a varied selection. It might not be a huge selection, but they'd have a couple from this studio and a couple from that one. I'd expect to see a few Evil Angels, a Seymore or two, and a lot of Wickeds, VCAs, and Vivids. According to the logic here, most of those stores are going to pick up a couple of the Seymore Classics and ignore the more expensive ones, such as Internet Tushy (which I started checking out after finishing the last of the Seymore Classics last night and it appears to be a very well done DVD). So now, Wise Cracks is going against titles like the Buttman series, and the consumer can have his choice over night for the same price, since most stores rental price isn't based on the selling price. If I pick up a Buttman DVD this week (since it seems to be some of Seymore's most prevalent competition), from the cover I'm going to expect a two hour plus DVD that might or might not have a bunch of extras and get just that. The next week I might pick up Wise Cracks. From the cover I'm expecting a shorter feature, lasting around 70 minutes, with a few extras and instead I get something that's only thirty five minutes long with a few extras. After getting burned like that I'm going to be pissed since for the same price I can get a similar product that lasts about seven times longer and whose cover I know represents the product. How many people are going to give Seymore another chance rather than just renting the competition next time? Also, how many are going to give your better titles, such as Internet Tushy, a chance?

astroknight is absolutely right in the previous post.

It doesn't take that much to ruin someones expectations, so if you build consumers up, and then slam them into the ground, they will remember.

I can vouch for astro's view on Seymore's short dvd's.
I have had complaints on the first two (both in vhs and dvd) about the inclusion of "extras" counting as part of the "70 minutes".
What's next, calling phonesex ads a "bonus feature".
The only thing that makes any sense to me is that since Seymour is getting the shaft, the rest of us should bend over too!

I don't but discs that are under 2 hrs anymore.
I buy Anabolic/Diabolic, Evil Angel, West Coast Productions.

IMHO Anabolic/Diabolic, Evil Angel and WCP give you the best quality and quantity for your money. Every once in a while I will buy a specific title from another company that I want (i.e. Jenna's Wicked titles) But overall I stick with the proven winners.

Any disc that clocks in at under an hour I won't even consider. It's a watse of time and money.

This is the age of the 2hr 20min porno.
