I have Sony's model 870 changer. It has "lost its way" a couple times, spinning its carosel and refusing to load any DVD. Killing the power has solved its memory lapse every time.

I rented 3 discs the other day, first one played, but the next two wouldn't at all (two different companies), the player just keeps spinning and spinning but can't read the discs. I tried putting in a mainstream movie and even a cd, but the same thing happens, player just keeps spinning the disc trying to read it without success until it finally says "insert disc" like there's nothing in the machine. Could it be that it needs to be cleaned? or is the thing just shot and I have to but a new one. I liked this player becuase it pretty much played evey disc I ever threw in it from every company, sure I had a couple of problems but those were all disc related. Of the hundreds of porn discs I put in that player only one didn't read and upon returning it, got another copy of the same title and it worked. If I have to buy a new one are the newer Sony's any good? Kind of pisses me off the this thing only lasts 3 years. I did do a lot of fast forwarding, but three years is not a very long life for a player is it? It was my first machine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. [Link] |

But now that LOTS and LOTS of players are available for $50-$150, it doesn't seem as bad. It seems like VCRs only lasted about that amount of time also.
