What does that mean? He doesn't release it to the public? Do the performers get paid? What reasons would be used to do this?

I also hear said that if a scene is canned they pay the wench a "kill fee," but for what I have no idea. If the wench doesn't perform, why should she be paid?

I just wanted to know WHY a scene would be canned. If it's the guys fault for not getting hard or whatever, why should the woman suffer? And of course, vice versa.

Are some scenes canned because they just aren't any good?

There are too many variables in 'canning a scene'.

I've only canned three scenes in the past 8 months.

One scene, I canned cause one of the guys couldn't pull wood. If a guy can't get wood, you're in for torture. So I switched up, and had 8 guys dump loads into the girl's mouth so she got paid and we rescheduled the sex scene.

In another scene, a girl came on my set after doing another scene somewhere else. I was annoyed cause I never take a girl's second scene of the day and her asshole was sore. She asked if she could do vaginal only. I said no. We agreed on a D.P. She said she could do it. When she asked if we can do the entire anal part real slow, I told her the scene was canned. After all, why would I want a half assed anal scene? I charged the agency money for sending me a tore up girl and I didn't pay her a nickel.

Last week, a girl came in and tried to change the agreed upon 2 on 1 scene into a 1 on 1. I said no. So she did the 2 on 1 scene but refused to touch the other guy's dick. So I said no and canned the scene. She knew who she was working days beforehand. I was annoyed enough because she wasn't giving me what I wanted and the scene flat out stunk. I don't want a shit scene in anything I do so I agreed to give her a kill fee. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a crispy $20 bill and sent the bitch on her way.

It all depends on the situation. If the girl's been there, getting fucked for quite some time, and it's not her fault, you have to compensate her generously.

That makes sense. Didn't touch the guy's dick? Sure, stick it in my ass just don't let me see it.

Thanks for the explanation Chico, makes very logical sense.

Chico's pretty much summed it up; there's lots of reasons a scene gets "canned", and it is very often because the female wants to change the deal. It's the old bait and switch game; and of course they're "never at fault"...

When scenes for an established line are being shot, what frequently happens is that the shooter wishes he had canned some scenes instead of having shot them.

Weak scenes end up laying around and never being released; always moved back to the "maybe the next volume". And by now, it's extremely likely that some of the more established and successful lines, such as "Fresh Meat", "All Black Cheerleader Search" and others, have lots and lots of unused scenes laying around; because they just never measured up to the line.

On the other hand, there have been lines severely crippled because somebody was not willing to keep the crap out.

It happens; and it's the smarter shooter that's willing to let some of his scenes gather dust - regardless of its costs - than to fuck with their line's success. It's the biggest reason that the distributors who are first pornographers far out-sell those competitors who know little or nothing about porn.
