Question should have been "when did porn produces catch on to big butts". The answer to that is when Stagliano started the Buttman series. Before him everything was mostly thin blondes especially from Vivid.
When the female-centric media told them they should. It's hard work to stay thin, so instead of all that running and aerobics, women decided they would just get fat and try and convince us that fat is fine. Which of course it is not.
It's a combination of different nationalities mixing more, women in general carrying a bit more weight, and fashions being made to highlight the butt more. In today's porn there are women who are big names that have big bubble butts that would've had problems getting work back in the 80s.
I am glad women are becoming "normal size" and not stick thin in certain aspects of porn. For a while it was getting to the point where I wondered if the woman in a scene was going to break in two before the scene reached its halfway point! I do still have a boner for Calista Flockhart (not a porn performer, she was the star on "Ally McBeal" and was unfortunately stick thin) but most of the time I prefer normal size women. Now that I think of it, Ally McBeal would make a great porno, the premise being that Ally gets fucked by Bobbi Starr (who has a normal frame and look, could pass for an accountant from Iowa) and Mr. Marcus (we all know what he looks like) and breaks two minutes into the scene.

Why on earth does anyone find Calista Flockhart attractive? Her face says 50+ old woman her body says 10 year old boy. Women with curves have always been appreciated, its just people are being honest about it now. A well proportioned body is the most important feature I consider though.
Yeah uh-huh sure... and I guess conspiracy is just a theory. 252 Posts 12/09

[okay, I'll be calm and stay within the boundaries of forum etiquette, take a few deep breaths...alright] That's completely untrue. The current trend started with the rise of the internet. Women with full hour-glass shape figures was always greatly admired in certain circles including among a few in the white populous (remember Mae West and Marilyn Monroe). However, mainly during most of the decades of the last century, that sort feminine physique and the admiration for it was greatly suppressed. There's a deep history in regards to the reason for that which leads back to maintaining control over the mass by basically keeping us placing needless concerns on trivial matters while also instilling and preserving an evaluation of low self-esteem. However, in regards to what is slowly shattering the manufactured false paradigm that all men desire women who are slender with their breasts being the only curvaceous thing on them was the emergence of the internet. When more and more people began logging onto the internet in the 1990's, it produced more avenues of free expression. Many of the information and ideas that were suppressed by corporate-media outlets were constantly losing control. Sites, mostly "amateur" at first, that featured women that would normally be considered over the weight standard set before was slowly, at first, popping up everywhere with an ever increasing audience. Soon, the underground media (porn, etc.) caught on and jumped on the bandwagon. Of course there were curvy women who were yearned for previous the wave of the net. Vanessa Del Rio, Susan Nero, Nina Hartley, Ebony Ayes, Tanya Foxx and a few others including the two I've already mentioned above, an extreme few. But the promotion for skinny women with flat butts was always dominant back then...as it is now but, fortunately, today it's slowly but surely losing ground. I think these guys said it best...
I think I said it before but I'll say it again...Jennifer Lopez played a very big part in women embracing their butts (big and small) and starting to show them off. Once apon a time a white girl with a bubble butt tried to keep it hidden or get rid of it through dieting.
I think that's still true, for the most part. Sure there are "famous" bigbooty girls from pop culture, but IRL it's still considered an insult to say a woman has a big butt. Just google "Does this make my butt look big?"
white dudes started liking big butts when they realized that's all there was out there...jus sayin

A big butt without a small waist to accompany it is useless. Also if the butt is flat its also useless (no matter the size). This is not accomplished by eating a lot and not exercising.
True. I remember that pic of Jennifer Love Hewitt in that black bathing suit where people gave her a lot of grief because of the size of her butt in the pic. I felt bad for her because the truth of the matter was that her butt was just fine but the cut of the suit, the way it fit and the pose she was in all came together to make an incredibly unflattering butt shot. If she was wearing the right bikini bottom at the time there would've been praise instead of putdowns. JLH has a great figure.
I'm always had the hots for women with big butts, it mostly started when I was working on my undergrad and I dated this stripper down in Tampa. She had a big butt and a thing for spanking and she cursed me with these two fetishes for life, now I spend my nights hunting in the strip bars for big butts to punish. I also give a shout out for Katya Kassin and her big butt when she hit the scene she was so hot, I was so disappointed later in her career she became a health nut and tried to get rid of it. I like girls who are chunky enough where you can grab a nice handful of flesh when your taking advantage of them.
