I'd spend as much time as I could get away with paging through them. A couple years later, I discovered that there was a local low-power TV station broadcasting (yes, broadcasting!) porn. It was heavily scrambled, but I found that if I de-tuned my little 13-inch TV (which had an old-style rotary tuner with fine-tuning control), it became almost watchable (though with no sound). Oddly, that station went away within a few months... I wonder why? ;) Later, in college, I briefly got a subscription to Penthouse. Cancelled it after a few issues, though (Was kind of embarassed, hehe). But it wasn't until the late 90's and the advent of the Internet that I really became hooked... where I would spend many an hour browsing, selecting, and downloading; first still images, then short video clips, and finally graduating to full-length movies. I also began buying porn in local stores around the same time; usually bargain-basement VHS tapes, which were frequently of horrendous image quality (they were mostly repackaged rentals, after all), but heck, it was better than nothing, and the store I shopped at did have a trade-in program for getting rid of the worst junk. I would go in planning to get maybe one or two videos, and walk out with ten! I still have many of those tapes stashed in my closet in a couple of big plastic storage totes. Naturally, I moved on to DVDs when they became popular (and cheap enough), and have amassed quite a collection. (Side note: The adult video stores in my town were all really seedy dives when I first moved here in the 90's. The one I did most of my shopping at, I only tolerated because of the bargain-bin videos and the trade-in program! Today, there are several much-classier shops to choose from, thank God!
