How come when pornstars leave the adult industry, for example Crissy Moran, they continue to have a dialogue with the adult industry. I mean Sky Lopez, Kendra Jade, Crissy Moran, etc. if you decide to leave, leave. You left the adult business be happy and go forward with your life. It seems like they can't live without commenting on the industry or showing up at events.

i agree.....i actually prefer it that when a performer decides to quit, she makes a clean break of it and leaves everyone wondering

Gee, there are other threads about how people get a little pissed when their favorite girls just drop off the face of the Earth one day and never even say goodbye to their fans at all.
Some girls who get into the feature dancing circuit can keep doing that for a few more years after they quit appearing in movies, as long as people still remember their movies. I saw Gauge last November, and I think it had been awhile since she was last in a movie.
Girls who just quit when they're still very popular can also create myths and legends for antiporn people, as well, about what horrible things drove them to quit.

I agree, if you decide to leave the adult business leave. I was reading on another site about Crissy Moran, going on and on. If you decide to leave, make sure it's what you want to do and position yourself to be financial stable [the 6 month rule] before you leave. These are the same things everybody else must be prepared to do when you decide to quit your job.

I was thinking more along the lines of Keri Sable or how some people speak of Roxanne Blaze or Lauren Hall.

In a way I agree because it kills me to see a girl all hot yet you know she doesn't do porn anymore like when girls move from infront to behind the camera for example. You want to see the girl in all her glory like you always have.

Sorry. I meant those who leave the industry, but stick around. I would rather they stay in the industry and work behind the scenes. Or could they at least get unhot?

I never knew porn was an all or nothing venture.
Seems to me plenty of industry professionals consult long after they retire. Just because a person retires from their profession doesn't mean they don't still take an interest in it or have anything worthwhile to contribute to it.
Aside from that, people do make friends and friendly acquaintances and continue to enjoy socializing with those people even after they retire.
As was mentioned, the attention is nice, too. Once a porn star always a porn star.

i dont have a problem with people keeping up friendships, i have a problem with the former performers who suddenly adopt vocally anti-porn positions but continue to hang around the biz. and they go on about how much they regret it, how it was the biggest mistake of their lives, how it's so evil and un-christian.......like that shelley lubben.....now she has turned sierra sinn all anti-porn.....
"porn is a lie" etc....well if that's the case, stop calling yourself 'sierra sinn'.....stop associating yourself with porn.....if you really want to show you hate it so much, just walk away completely and do something else

you call that honesty?.....talking anti-porn while still using a porn name?.....going on about how bad the industry is, but not moving on from it?.....sounds like attention-seeking whining to me.......
i have noticed from your posts you are another one embittered by your porn experiences yet unable to stay away from things associated with porn......you constantly make huge generalizations about how bad it is and how fucked up everyone in it is.....is it not possible you are simply projecting your dissatisfaction and negativity upon everyone else??

This is so true! The Crissy Moran's, Kendra Jade's, Sky Lopez's get on with your lives. You quit the adult biz, move on. I have no problem with pornstars who work behind the scenes. I think they bad mouth the adult biz, because nobody really cares who they are. They need to be in the limelight, sort of like a boxer that can't quit. At least the boxer still performs. Who the heck was Shelley Lubben, she was a no name porn performer. If it weren't for the adult biz she would have no career at all.

If a retired performer needs to say something to the industry, and people interested in it, what better way to do it than *AS THE PERFORMER THEY WERE*?
Someone might notice if Kimi Lixx said something about the porn industry (or they might not - it's not like I was a big name), but I can pretty much rest assured that no one would notice if My Real Name said something about the porn industry. Being Kimi Lixx is the only clout I have on the topic. It's the only tool in my toolbox, so it's what I use to get the job done.
The porn industry isn't nice and sweet with hearts and rainbows on top. It's ruthless and cruel and there is very little regard for the harm that is done, or might be done, by the product and during the production of the product.
Some people do have regrets. Some people did/do things that made/make them unhappy. Some people realise after-the-fact that what they did unknowingly has repurcussions they didn't understand when they did it. Some people don't properly understand the risks involved and find out later just how much they had to lose when the die didn't roll their way. Some people are lied to and are truly hurt when the truth comes out.
All these things happen. They happen in other professions, too. Most of those other professions have ways to help fix things when too many people speak up over common problems. So far, the porn industry hasn't needed to respond. The turn-over rate is so high that it doesn't really matter when industry people leave dissatisfied with their experience.
The only ears left to hear are the consumers and fans. You're the only ones with the power to move the industry right now.

Perhaps former porn performers can contribute to the porn industry not only in terms of negative criticism but also in terms of positive sharing of skills and knoweledge with new performers.
An award-winning anal-sex performer like Katsumi probably can give a few tips and teach a few tricks to other female perfomers who are just starting in the porn business.
But if there are a lot of unhappy porn actresses who leave the industry because they are unhappy with their treatment. Then perhaps they should get together and create their own porn-film company, where they would be the bosses.
The only thing these women would need to do to be successful would be to hire male porn-consultants who will advise them about the kind of sex male porn-fans would love to see. Perhaps these women can even find some male porn-fans who will volunteer to give this kind of advice for free and maybe even assist in directing the sex-action.
Women can't read men's minds. And if a woman tries to make a good porn movie for men without any male advice. Then she probably won't do a good job of it, because she won't be able to judge well whether the sex-action looks good to men or not.
But with assistance from male porn-fans, there is no good reason why female porn-stars can't hire some hard studs and make hardcore sex-films that look good to men.

It's just like anything you spend time doing. People like to look back. If you spent several years of your life doing something, you feel like you have a right to comment on it. People want to hear from retired stars generally.

Well, I don't really have a problem with them saying these things. But if they do, they should at least accept responsibility for the fact that they made these decisions themselves. Even if they were young naive and all that. If a 14 year old kills somebody, they wanna try them as an adult. If an 18 year old goes into porn and later regrets it, people wanna act like they were just a baby and couldn't possibly have known anything about life. Sure they could've. They just didn't bother looking into it before jumping in with both feet. Nobody else's fault.
Porn is what it is and it's not like you don't see "Exploited Teens #20 hex " and "Sluts Choke on Cock" coming out every other day. It doesn't hide the main thrust of what it is and what will happen. As I've said, I'm sure some bullshit goes on behind the scenes but that happens no matter what you do for a living.

i don't really see any problem with someone retired who sticks around. if it's some washed up has-been looking to make a quick buck off of their past name and glory, that's one thing. but popping in to say hi ok. i remember the first time i went to the aee, and i saw some who had stopped making films. to me that was an unexpected surprise. even if you move on to another career, if you had a good experience and made some good connections, why cut it off?

Kimi Lixx thank you for not resorting to "lot of friends" cliquishness.....
there are thoughtful points in your response......but i do not believe that a lot of these anti-porn porn names are actually so thoughtful or noble in their intentions.........to me a lot of their overzealous religious agendas come from personal & psychological issues.....
.....have you actually read shelley lubben's thoughts on this topic?.....she is not talking about improving the industry, she considers the entire industry immoral and un-christian and feels every performer must be rescued from themselves and their heinous sins.......thru jesus.....
i have read some of sierra sinn's posts after her conversion.......she strikes me as a person who was damaged and had problems before she ever got into porn....now she is blaming porn....while remaining associated with porn....there is not a lot of rational thinking happening there...
that is what i have a problem with.....when these former performers refuse to take responsibility for their own choices......when they put their energies into complaining about their situation instead of actually moving on and trying to improve their situation...
the bottom line to me is.....no matter how tough the industry can be, i do not believe that porn is the awful sinful meat-grinder that the social-conservatives say it is......i do not belive porn should be this horrible, illegal black market thing full of shame and regret
and i will not feel ashamed for enjoying porn......indeed i will continue to enjoy the porn made by performers who now say that they wish they never did it....

Knocko - I think you can see that I agree with your point on girls who go into the porn business without taking the time to research it and really think it through going on to blame the business for being what it patently is. But they also blame it for their own lack of discretion. That, to me, is just inexcusable.
But this, IMO, happens because our culture allows people to scapegoat things like porn, drugs, alcohol, music, movies, video games....you name it. We're only too willing to believe it was the booze or it was that dirty old man's fault. She didn't really want to do what she did.
I think a lot of these girls get in there, find out it isn't what they thought it was and then start looking for excuses for the mistakes they made. And I'm not saying that I think that doing porn is always a mistake. Different things are good and bad for different people. I'm saying that it's clearly a mistake for some people. Maybe it's a mistake for most of the girls who go into porn. Maybe it's a mistake to speed on wet roads. Maybe you're not a good driver on wet roads.
But they need something to blame. Because it can never be your own fault. You never made a bad choice of your own accord.
I read Kimi's post and frankly, while I think she's said what she has to say a lot more thoughtfully and with a lot more eloquence than a lot of people probably would, I just don't think "They don't understand" is good enough. The guys in Iraq might not understand either but if they die, it won't matter. And they volunteered so it won't be anyone else's fault. Sure Bush lied. Politicians lie. The guys with the power in porn are basically pimps. Since when should you trust a pimp? They're about as trustworthy as a politician, I think (Although I'd probably trust a pimp more).
But Kimi has a point. Some of them would just like to see changes in the industry and I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing for performers OR consumers. There is obviously something very wrong when hardcore sex seems dull and lifeless (as it does in so much of what is being produced).
I also think you (Knocko) have a point about the ones who are being "converted" by the people who just plain hate porn because it exists and not because of any particular industry practice or situation. Those people are morons to me.
But we shouldn't tell girls who come out of porn unhappy not to say anything or not complain. Frankly, I'd like to know why they're so unhappy. I mean, it's obvious that women are treated badly in front of the camera but frankly, an 18 year old has no excuse to not know that going in. But if conditions are bad behind the camera, that's something they couldn't have known. What happens on camera is supposed to be merely a performance. I mean, I'm as much of a scumbag as any guy who gets off on some of this stuff but honestly, I watch porn because I don't think it's the kind of thing you can realistically do in a real life relationship.
This post went way off somewhere else. But I'll leave off with something to think about -
When I started smoking, I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. What I mean to say is that I knew people said it was addictive and all that noise but I didn't really know what addiction was.....until I tried to quit. Boy was that rough! I tried a lot of times before I finally quit. And it could have killed me. I might never have quit.
But guess what? I don't blame the tobacco industry at all. Not at all. I may have been addicted after a while but I made the initial choice having been warned by many people not to. I picked up that cigarette and that lighter. I knew with every inhalation that I was doing untold damage to my body. It was my choice and I accept the responsibility for that. Because I smoked so heavily, I now have significantly reduced lung function. There are a few things I simply can't do that other people my age can because I can't breathe well enough. But guess whose fault that is? Mine.

Christian conversion happens in other professions, too. Lots of money-grubbing lawyers and CEOs and who-knows-whats find Jesus and speak out against their greedy corporate pasts. It happens. It's a lot more interesting (to Americans) when it happens in the adult entertainment industry.
I don't want to hear anyone's religious mumbo-jumbo on any topic. That's just me, though. I recognize that I'm only one person and that just because I don't find any sense or reason in religion doesn't mean it isn't full of hope and promise for someone else. If Sierra Sinn is heard by some young person who is racked with guilt over what they are doing, and they decide to stop doing it - Good. It's better that they stop before they shred the final pieces of their self esteem and personal pride than that they don't hear an anti-porn message from a former performer.
It really is okay for people to speak up. Whether it's Jesus or exploitation of women or violence in sexuality or drug abuse or any other personal reason, these things happen to people and other people should be allowed to become aware of them. Young people, and a large number of people in the adult entertainment industry are very young adults with very little life experience, need to hear from people all the potential conflicts with life that the industry may bring.

That's what I'm getting at. Going in to porn most people only know the outside appearance. What they saw on screen. What the risk of catching an STD is. What the pay rate is.
But they don't know the inside story. Part of that inside story is how the industry is going to make you feel. How you feel is just as much a part of the behind-the-scenes action as girls putting on make-up.
Most people who are active in the industry (unretired) won't tell the whole truth. A few of them have nothing negative to say! (Good for them!!) That sort of leaves it up to the retired performers to let others know what their experience was. That might be positive, it might be negative, it might be both. It might be full of regret, or just caution, or even insight.
Don't ask, don't tell isn't the way for the next generation of performers to enter the industry. They should have access to as much information, good and bad, personal opinion and fact, about their choice as possible. If they don't take advantage of that information then their actions really do become their responsibility. If that information isn't made available to them, then we shoulder part of the blame if they leave unhappy with their experience.

Thank you for these wise comments, Kimi ! I always disliked the cold professionalism in most US productions and the distant sex. Of course there are many exceptions too, but the trend to more brutal and women degrading porn frightens me a little.
Ill really hope, that the male customers will rent more movies like Wicked, Abby Winters, Sweethearts from Europe,
instead of Rocco, Max Hardcore and low-level gangbangs.
We had a different tradition, but the Netherlands are small,
I have found some good friends in the dutch porn business, very nice, open minded and intelligent girls and women.
And some porn company owners are very friendly and caring too. Customers have to support these companys. So let us move the industry in the right direction.
( And if women criticize the bad and primitive porn, instead of neglecting porn, please support and rent the good titles, so the bad porn will diminish more and more... )
Ill have to add, that from the 5 girlfriends who were playing in porn, none of them regreted it, and 4 were very happy with it, had much fun and were positively astonished
about the production conditions and the friendly climate.

Oh please, spare us your platitudes; they've been done to death. If you would spend the time reading what imak has posted instead of what *you* think, you might realize how off base you are.
If you feel she's anti-porn than what of it? You take any number of objects into your favorite orifice and come in here and say you aren't bitter. Even with all that she's never once said that porn is an evil thing, she had fun made some money and got out, but in the end she realized it was bad for her (something which many of us agree on). Don't expect anyone to sugar coat their experiences for your own inadequacies.

I have to agree here. I think a lot of people just get upset because the anti porn lobby will use anything they can get their hands on even if it's an isolated (or rare) case. Not saying that bad experiences in porn are rare. I'm sure they aren't. Just that it could be and the people who would use it against porn, it's producers and it's fans don't care.
And it's often hard to tell what the person's motivations are. They often don't come right out and say specifically what or who they're talking about. It could be that they just don't want to. It could be that they're genuinely afraid to. It could be that they're making it up. No one knows. I know that I believe what I hear from you and Imak because I've read enough from you and gotten a general feel for who you guys are. But so many girls come and go and if you don't know much about them, how are you supposed to know if they're being totally honest or if they don't have some kind of agenda? Well, a performer who's been there might be able to tell but most of us out here wouldn't.
Completely agree here. I've often wondered if there was some kind of "orientation" for porn and if not, why not. I'd really rather not watch a girl be miserable for six months and watch her go from a smiling newcomer to something very ugly (not physically but emotionally). I'd really rather watch the girls who can put up with it or even like it. Even if that means fewer performers and fewer movies, it's better for the future of porn, better for the performers who end up staying and better for those who are thinking about doing it.
And yeah. If there are people behind the scenes causing problems, they should be exposed. Maybe that exposure will be enough to drive them away. Porn is under a spotlight constantly anyway. The people who make it should be as clean as they possibly can be under the circumstances.
